@@tiju4723 Lutherans are catholics, but they reject the legalism comes from merit. So the right way of intepreting sola fide is, salvation comes from the grace of God given unmerited through the sacraments, for those who in repetence fear the law of God and seek his forgiveness and healing.

You are very uncharitable in this video. The quote you use from Luther about James seems to come from a place of vexation. I believe he was referring to the use of James out of context (as you do) to justify salvation through works, when in context with the Bible it seems to suggest that works is a result of faith. We have faith, we are saved, and then it manifests through works. Without works, the faith is obviously false and dead. “You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by his works;” James‬ ‭2‬:‭22‬ ‭ESV‬ Ephesians 2 also specifically states that works play no part in salvation itself, but that is not to say they are not important. “You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.” James‬ ‭2‬:‭24‬ ‭ESV‬‬ In this instance, I believe the word see literally means to see. Faith is invisible. How do we see it? Through the works of the individual. I don’t think it means “so you understand that…” but I’m not a scholar. Regardless your dismissal of all Protestant denominations is very concerning to me. It is clear from Gods word that all who take the hand that God gives to them are His sons. Paul clearly laid out the conditions in Romans 10:9-10, and it is not by the authority of ANY Church, it is from Christ, full stop. I hope you understand, and I pray for you.

@@byzantineapologetics i shouldn’t have capitalized Church in that context. I meant to say sect of the Church (Orthodox, Catholic, Anglican, etc). All Christians who follow the teachings of the Bible hold membership in the spiritual body, the one Church. Disagreements between churches are generally not about salvation (unless it’s Mormonism or Jehova’s witnesses, they are not Christian) they are about things like the righteousness of Mary, the nature of the Eucharist, or meeting times. None of which I would say are worthy of condemnation.

There is no church, outside of the Orthodox church. Mormon, Baptist, etc. They can call themselves whatever they like. If you’re going to be protestant at at least be consistent about your theology

Personally I believe the nature of the bread and wine is not important compared to the act of remembrance, which was the commandment. I agree, Mary was a virgin, but Catholics say she was sinless. I don’t agree with that. We will probably never agree on the matters of the Church, but it still seems vain to claim one church holds the key to salvation. If you believe the Bible, that salvation requires confession and belief, then you cannot claim that a Baptist is not a Christian. The fact that I believe some of Calvin’s ideas does not change the fact that you and I are brothers in Christ first.
