I just got my new regular OMJM one week ago! It's such a perfect guitar, and I love it! Only one minor problem I have, is that the 1st string is really easy get pushed outside the edge of the fingerboard...

Hi Aaron, I just bought the OMJM 20th. Since the saddle is a Tusq, would you recomend me to change it to a bone Martin saddle? Would it be necessary since the guitar already sounds good or better tnah the normal OMJM? Thanks

I won’t say that they all sound better than the original OMJM. Mine did but all guitars sound different. My advice is that if your guitar sounds great now then leave it alone.

I must admit I didn't want to like it BUT I love it. Everything about it is lovely. Now I am seeing it on my TV I like the two colours.The fingerpicking sounds amazing. If I could play as well as you I would want to buy it.

It looks great. The 45 looks even better! The OMJM version has an under saddle pickup with no controls.

It’s confused me. Maybe it would sound better with the full Dovetail but it sounds great as it is. Maybe it’s just a great guitar? I will compare it to the full Dovetail version soon.

I bought a regular Omjm back in April when this concept was rumored.. the grey is fine but I prefer the aged toner look of Martin guitars vs any variation of sunburst, etc. the natural look of a Martin guitar is timeless and I love the way they age without sunburst

Martin have a hard time doing anything that isn’t traditional but I think it’s nice when they do something different for that reason.

It definitely looks better than the pictures, curious to see how the top will age! The mahogany neck is a nice upgrade than the omjm. How do you like the Antique White binding compared to Ivoroid? Wished they made the omjms with the same bracing as the om-28jm. If the regular om-28 had the same neck and nut width, that's most likely what I'll pick. The abalone rosette on the omjms looks so beautiful. The OM-28JM is the dream though.

You can always do a custom. I think the OM-28JM has become lore at this point.

Ive decided i will never spend good money on a painted acoustic my opinion is that the paint job is probably why theirs a sound difference between same like models paint versus not painted.. i would love to hear one not painted. great video.

As a 2011 model year owner, it's crazy to see now it's $4000. I paid like $2800（on discount） back in 2012, and to be honest, if it wasn't for the "signature model", this guitar's sound is worth $2.5k---$3k at most

I bought one for $1800 around that time. But I also bought a D-18 for $1000 less than they are now. We can’t compare prices now to ten years ago as everything has gone up in price as it always does. I agree that some may be better off looking at a standard OM-28 or similar.

I'm surprised I like the sound of the guitar that much with a tusq saddle, but I do. I did not like the sound of it plugged in but that can be remedied with a different pickup and amp setup if wanted. Otherwise, great looking guitar, takes a pick well and sounds great played fingerstyle.

I will say, the burst looks a lot nicer on the actual guitar in your video than it did in the promo materials. Aesthetically it’s still not really for me but I think it’s striking and the finish is well done. It looks a bit warmer than I expected from the photos, and not quite as dissonant with the natural sides as I expected. And lovely balanced sound. Oh btw, not a JM fan myself so purely based on the guitar itself.

I'm deutan color blind (I see too much reds and not enough greens) so the Platinum/gray makes me feel even more color blind than I already am haha. Also, I totally understand that JM uses the Fishman Gold plus or the Matrix infinity for playing big arenas and not getting having to deal so much with feedback. In my opinion there are so many better options even from Fishman with with condenser mics for a more natural acoustic tone. LR Baggs has some great ones as well. I know It's all about feedback at the end of the day but there are so many ways to control that nowadays with processing from pedals or even from FOH.

I’m not huge fan of John ! I had just purchased a Gibson southern jumbo 3 months before. I saw this and played it strictly purchased because it sounded Awsome. I love the omjm , no buyers remorse !

@@mcmickey3344 No. in my opinion you are better off investing the $20,000 in high yield investments. There is no way to be sure the value of the guitar will increase and acoustic guitars have to be maintained.

why doe the put a tusq saddle in the guitar instead of bone?

Martin use tusq in all guitars with a pickup as it’s more consistent and can give better string balance. John Mayer does use bone saddles and it can easily be replaced since Martin sell compensated bone saddles for around $20. You just have to sand the base to the correct height.

I absolutely think it should be grey, if not blacked out. Of course, that may affect that beautiful wood grain, but the color disparity is jarring.

I think it is a nice looking guitar, but it needs a splash of color. Lol I prefer a wider nut though, even 1 13/16 or 7/8 would be my choice. I can live with anything but now I buy 1 3/4 or greater.

It’s still a simple dovetail neck like the other OMJM. OM-42 might be a better choice.

I agree. I have a 000-17SM with an M&T neck joint and it has an awesome tone. I had heard that the OM-28JM was expensive to make and John wanted a lower cost option so others could get a guitar with the englemann spruce top as well. @@aaronshortmusic
