Hello Margaret ,sadly is true ,they have lost their habitat ,many gardens have no plants , grass or trees , just paving stones , but there are wildlife lovers like me who feeds the Birds , Sparrows everyday and our gardens are wildlife friendly, in my garden there are about 25 Sparrows living here day and night in a Jasmine and Honeysuckle bush , you have a wonderful day .

Margaret and angel wings, here too, farmers have cut down the hedgerows or fencelines we call it. Their machinery is so big they need bigger fields. We usually gather together dead branches and such and make a pile. One is near a feeder. Birds sleep in them and hide from hawks. Last year Mart made it too big and there must have been a hundred sparrows in there!!!!

Hey Martin! I absolutely love your videos. Thank you so much for sharing your time and memories up at the cabin. I can not tell you enough how I appreciate them! Your videos are exactly what I want for retirement.the history of your cabin and times there deserve to be continued long after someone else calls the cabin “home”. I can only hope that whom ever has the cabin in the future maintains the bench at Hawk’s Pond, keeps the coffee cups up on the wall for those who have passed, puts a rustic wood sign up That says “Martin’s Cabin” and keeps the video coming ! What you have created is so special ! Something called memories that need to be shared to keep them going. Your times up at the cabin are all about friendships n nature, can’t ask for More than that ❤️ One thing I think would be really cool would be if you had the recipe for Vonnie’s world famous cherry pies to be scribed into a wooden plaque to share for all in the future at the cabin. Thank you for all the good times and memories you share with us all !!!

So cool! I am going to make a pitch after Christmas for folks to send me pictures of my videos being watched wherever they watch them. I expect a lot of cats will be joining in. I will post an E-mail they can be sent to later.

Your talking about the solar panels makes me think about led battery operated lights for the cabin. I’ve used them in a few locations and they work out well.

My cabin has been outfitted with 12 volt LED lights for a long time. One of the early videos shows the system that is still working fine.

Ravens will do that to the eagles. The eagle will have the food. One raven distracts them while the other makes off with it.

In the back woods of Maine the gray jays are believed to be the reincarnated souls of French Candian lumber jacks. They should never be harmed one will have bad luck if they do LOL .

That is just amazing that you have gained trust in those beautiful birds!! I'm so jealous!! Lol I love animals any animal and all animals!! How long did it take to get them to land on your hand take food??

Once I get a bird trusting me they do not forget. This year one bird was new and by setting the food on the pump shelf and moving away I started the process. Ten minutes later I had progresed to having it feed out of my hand. That was faster then usual but the trick is to keep getting closer and finally having my hand on the pump shelf with food in it.

Shabbat Shalom from Israel. Have you a plan for the guest cabin or are you just going to wing it? When I pour concrete foundations I use the forms lumber for roofing that won’t show in the finished project. Waste not , want not. Stay happy and prosperous! B”H

Aggressive birds, but extremely funny to watch. My wife and I were in Maine a few summers ago and we were having lunch on the beach. A seagull came out of no where, swooped in took her sandwich right out of her hand. It bit her finger at the same time, it took a long time for her finger to stop bleeding. So be careful out there Martin.
