Ripping that tree while its still upright in the ground was brilliant. Now thats using your head instead of your back! You are living the life that so many can only dream about. Thank you so much sharing another great project video my friend.

Thanks, I won't tell you how many trees I cut off and fought trying to slice up for lumber before I thought to leave it anchored to the ground.

Martin, I am about your age, retired marine who turned 17 in 1965 Saigon . I grew up fast and hard, but always dreamed of such a cabin life. Part came true for me in Mendocino where I have a private sanctuary for eight rescued wolves, no cages, just 40 well fenced acres. At present, in May and part of June, my dreams were altered with 14 hours of emergency surgery for pancreatic cancer. 35 days in the hospital and watched every one of your videos. Going thru four months of chemo now at Stanford and have my Cherokee buddy watching my animals. Lost half my stomach, gall bladder, upper part of intestine, but it is in the lymph nodes. My goal now is to build onto my cave cabin and spend my remaining days watching your videos again. Your discipline and adaptability are a core value to me. I stand and salute you. Live well, live long, and love your family. I see my rescues every ten days and return to the chemo. But your lifestyle is one to be respected. Semper fi. my friend. There is honesty and no bullshit in your journey. I am not one for people, and still six foot five and 260, believe I will remain steadfast and survive. You are an inspiration to me. I use a solar shower made from a fifty gallon drum, and broke down and installed a septic tank. Piped stream water fro a trout stream up the hill, have a trout pond of half an acre, all natural. My pic shows Moses, a two hundred pound Canadian wolf rescue who shares my bed when it snows. I. feed the blue jays daily. They are my alarm clock. Been here since the 90's.

Great to watch a fellow old guy work. Several good effort saving ideas shown here that I liked. Using the 2x6 as a saw guide and ripping the log down the middle while still part of the stump. Simple maybe, but they make a world of difference in results and safety.

You remind me of my Uncle. I grew up going to his cabin on Fearlong Pond in Greenwood Maine. I loved going with him and working on the cabin in the summer months, that left time for hunting in the fall. Such great memories. He is gone now and the cabin was sold. I miss that cabin and the great times we had. I can remember as a young 20ish year old, walking in to the cabin 4 miles with my dog at night after work on a Friday just to spend the weekend with him.
