Martin I learned something.......I never knew bears liked gasoline. I have had a variety of animals chew on items that I had been using and all the time I thought they were going after the salt from the sweat I left on the item. Bears have a keen sense of smell and in the future I will not only protect my food but take precautions on my fuel. Thanks for the video and have a Merry Christmas!

The fact that you can't drive a vehicle to the cabin would be a big plus for me. I'd actually considered how annoying 4-wheelers and other small engines could easily invade the tranquility of the area, so it was good to find out the bears had that aspect covered. :D

What a beautiful isolated private place Martin. I hope it stays that way forever. The beavers are amazing creatures. Quite the engineers! Intelligent builders! We have black bears here in the 0zarks. They don't stay in one area for more than a few years at a time, and then move on. Merry Christmas to you and yours Martin, and to your animal co-stars as well. Peace.

That was such beautiful photography/videography right there that my cat started to stalk the TV screen at 3:15. He was halfway across the room when the bird disappeared and he was still looking around confused two minutes later; then just reached up and pawed the screen a couple times and left!

Thank you for sharing love the pictures of the spruce grouse sometimes when the animals around you know you that you will not hurt them in any way shape or form they will allow you to get extremely close Mother Earth knows that you are there to protect them therefore you are allowed to get close to them to a certain degree between each animal that you visit

Another peaceful and informative video. It is interesting to see the low water in the beaver ponds, but also kind of sad. On bears. I used to be part of a group which installed solar powered remote weather stations which used radio to retrieve the data. In a couple of spots, bears took a liking to the batteries (lead acid marine type). In one spot old Mr. Bear stole the battery and lugged it off a piece until he bit a hole through the case. I imagine he found it gave him a bad case of “hot tongue” as he dropped it and took off. I guess sulphuric acid must smell tasty to a bear. In another spot we had a moose who kept catching his antlers in the guy wires. He bent steel page wire fence posts like they were made of aluminum or lead. There is a lot of power contained in a bull moose. Your vids take me back to some of the best days of my working career. Thanks!

That frog will be ok...Its a forest frog...they hibernate under logs and leaves. They store glucose in their system which will prevent them from freezing. Merry Christmas to all the forest dwellers and those who wish they could be!

I'm jealous of all the cedars you seem to have everywhere. I've got a lot of seedlings I'll be planting next summer but I won't live to see them grow large. I'm tired of the spruce, pine and fir so had it logged and what's coming now is beech, ash, and maple. The guy who did the logging says that's how it works: clear the softwoods and hardwoods take over and vice versa. We'll see. Thanks for your videos. Whenever I start to fear I'm too old for cabin life, I watch you. Happy New Year, Martin.
