He was considered one of the best filmmakers in the world even before Goodfellas and Casino

Of course, he was. Raging Bull and Taxi Driver are his two best films. My favorite film of all time is GoodFellas and I think it close, but the other two were more powerful and his two essential movies.

And that's why I sent the slippers actually were stolen ... even if they claim somebody was accidentally told to throw them out I think the person who realized they were Martin Scorsese's probably kept them .

I feel like the guy who played the cocaine yuppie in Die Hard was directly inspired by this appearance

I swear I thought I was the only one who thought that... oh my God thank you for confirming this... I've always thought Hart Bochner based Ellis on Eighties Scorsese!

Martin's much calmer here than he was during his 1982 appearance where he was racing.

At first I thought Marty said his mom played Travis’s first AFFAIR and I nearly fainted. (Not affair. Fare. TAXI FARE. In other news, I’m still hard of hearing.) (Sorry, Marty!)

Its too bad they burned Scorsese's lucky slippers which inadvertently led to his string of bombs like 'Goodfellas', 'Casino', 'Gangs of New York' and 'The Aviator'. It ruined the man.

This is pretty cool. Do you have the video of David Letterman announcing that Jay Leno would be hosting The Tonight Show?
