Steve there's no justification for raising the price of a life-saving drug by 5000%. He knew that he would get millions from it and bragged about it. It was not an "i fucked up" type of thing. It is so "easy " to criticize him because the thing he did was so obviously immoral. Just because he's makes online jokes and has a personality (like everyone) it doesn't mean that he deserve any sympathy. I know you like funny people but whether he was a internet troll or not he still deserves what he's getting and more.
@xCaLLMeGHeTTo6 жыл бұрын
There absolutely is justification for that. It's called more money for research and development. Daraprim is a ~60 year old drug that has extremely brutal side effects if you accidentally take it and don't have Toxoplasmosis. Not to mention companies stopped making it because Toxoplasmosis only effected a small populous(~10,000 people) thus forcing them to pull out and stop making the drug because there was no money to be made. Besides, in the world of pharmaceuticals, $700/pill isn't a lot. I don't even think that's enough to raise anyone's premium. Not to mention Daraprim is a one-round medicine. You'd shit yourself if you saw the prices of some drugs that people have to take for *life*.
@lurkingsoldi21076 жыл бұрын
woo sto That's the thing man. Pure capitalism entails competition and free market. In a free market he couldn't have raise the price that much because he would've lost consumers to a better , chraper supplier. But since he CONTROLS the supply he also controls the prices. Actually take time to learn about economics and supply and demand before you make a stupid comment. Like seriously you seem dumb af with that comment. Stop repeating stuff without actually looking into it yourself. That's literally why we are so politically divided

Instead of 'defending' Shkreli, Steve could have EXPLAINED why he isn't such a 'bad' guy. He kept saying he's a troll, as if that's suppose to change our minds about him. Reading through the comments, I read that Shkreli made the prices expensive for the insurance company, not for the individual itself (he was trying to make a point I guess, at how ridiculous the insurance companies were). He would give them the pill for free. If Steve was so 'informed' about Shkreli, then make it a point to state it. Sounded like he didn't even know himself, cause he kept focusing on the troll expect; as if that makes his a good guy all of a sudden. The same mentality as "It's just a prank bro".
@yaradboy6 жыл бұрын
In an interview with the breakfast club he stated that his inspiration is Percy Julian. A black chemist who created a drug that we all used today during the times of high racial tension. Basically, I can see parallels between the documentary I watched about Percy and Shkreli. He trolls because he knows people don’t know or care to know what and why he does what he does. But that’s just an observation. Interesting though.

Steve was merely offering a perspective that tries to understand the psychology and behavior of people. That's why he repeatedly said "It's easy to demonize someone and immediately come up with justifiable punishments for that person to not commit any crime or evil actions again." (Inexact words, somewhere along those lines) Retribution and the emphasis of justice is the norm that's why Joe, Bart and everybody else (especially Tiff) were having a difficult time understanding Steve's point of view. Joe and Bart may just be saying these things for entertainment or it could really be a reflection of their attitudes under these specific circumstances. Steve was just asking why won't we try to understand different factors and the psychology of evil guys like Hitler, Logan Paul, Donald Trump, and etc and maybe rehabilitate them and help them show the "right path" and moral values that we so dearly love. Look I'm not saying that punishment is not effective or that it should be eradicated but for me it's just like carrot and stick model. We're so quick to judge someone if they're being moral or not in order to make our egos grow bigger. Just sayin

Joe King 100% It’s like that old saying, if you give a man a hammer everything looks like a nail. The hammer here are peoples natural tendencies to want to jump the fence and criticise moral behaviour (which isn’t a bad thing necessarily since this helped our ancestors keep their minds in order enough to be able to survive and breed). But like they say old software for new hardware. It works but it just isn’t compatible. I like the idea of trying to understand their psychology and behaviour though. That’s something I struggle with a lot (not trying to woe is me you, but just showing how even people who understand this logic can still not be able to execute it) because it is usually a bitter a pill to swallow and it involves looking at your own life and seeing where you’re fucking up- which most people may not like doing. Also I don’t think all people do it for their ego, that in itself is doing what you’re saying people shouldn’t (but to be fair you probably meant what people including yourself should want to strive for and not everyone is perfect at all times right?) But I think it’s a mix of ego for some and a Defense mechanism for others. Everyone else? Idk. I’m just not wise enough to figure out their reasoning. But anyways, do you see how long it takes to try to understand all sides, maybe that’s another reason why people don’t want to do it. It clearly takes way too much time and energy. Peace 🤜

I love JK, but using the 'hot topic' argument to defend reporting false information isn't a good look. Misreporting happens, it's unfortunate but it happens once in a while. JK does a great job reporting, overall. But saying that viewers shouldn't expect JKN to be accurate if the topics are recent doesn't hold up. Quality > quantity for long-term sustainability. And if all else fails, use Phillip DeFranco's videos and paraphrase them 😅
@isabella29776 жыл бұрын
To be fair to Tiffany, she accumulates and has to memorize more than 20 stories each sitting. Tiff does other work at JK as well, plus she's a mum. it got too hard for Julia, that's why she stopped reporting (not to mention the mean comments). she just needs more helpers. Sometimes submitting articles from trusted and unbiased media outlets helps so the onus on us too.
@nishahamraz36046 жыл бұрын
Isabella La Oh I totally agree that it's a lot on poor Tiff. Koodos to her for doing as much as she does. It's on JK as an organization to ensure they're reporting accurate information. They should have a team responsible for researching and putting articles together. Or, focus on quality over quantity as I mentioned earlier. Less news articles, more time researching each story. As for the onus being on us, the fans, I'm sorry but I respectfully disagree. They get paid a ton of money for what they do; fans don't need to help them do their jobs. They can more than afford to hire a team to help Tiffany.
@isabella29776 жыл бұрын
LMAO!!! A *TONNE* OF MONEY!??? they're a youtube channel, don't make me laugh. and they are barely getting sponsors. most videos they put out gets demonetized because of the content. But yeah, i agree they should have a team dedicated to researching the news since this is the channel which they make most of their profits. But don't forget that most subscribers come here for the Laughs and Opinions and not necessarily 'quality content'. but it is our responsibility too because we submit the articles and they review it so to make it easier for Tiif, we should submit the articles with the most unbiased facts.

There is an underlying reason why Shkerli jacked up the prices of the drugs and it’s cause EVERY single pharmacutical company does the exact same thing!!! Don't quote me on this, but I believe that this guy bought the drug because they were going to stop making due to it having a small market. They weren't trying to improve it in any way either. So he upped the price by 5000% to pay for research. And the 5000% isn't going to be paid by the people, but the pharmaceutical companies. He gave away the drug for free if people couldn't afford it. That's what I've read into the situation. I might be wrong. But it's very easy to make this guy a villain. All they had to do was say this guy made a drug expensive by 5000%. While these companies who have to pay for that shit are losing a ton of money for something that was 5000% cheaper. Don't get me wrong, I don't think he's an angel, but I don't think he's the devil either. I mean, Wall Street robbed everybody and the media didn't say shit when the government let them off the hook.

I wonder what Geo would think if she knew that Shkreli grew up with both parents being janitors, dropped out of high school but was still able to get into an intership at Wall Street when he was 17, and donated 1 million to his old high school. Plus, the drug prices thing is still debatable, some say that he did it because the drug wasn't able to receive funding for improvement due to its small market and the price was for the companies who wants to buy them, not the individuals. And about David(and Tiffany)'s rant, I understand to a certain extent but I feel like if he really took the criticism seriously; he would understand that what we want is for the stories to at least have multiple sources instead of just looking at that one that's submitted. It would be beneficial for us and for them to understand the full context of a story before passing judgement. Steve's bringing so much into the conversation, they better make him a permanent guest like David.

Over Pricing is common practice but the only difference is how fast he increased it. Companies usual rebrand and reprice the same exact product multiple times in a year to increase it as high as 10,000% His mistake is using the loop hole in a very straightforward manner.

When Tiff waits for them to stop talking and there’s 3 sec gap and like this is my chance and they start talking again. Hahaha

To be honest, i'm like 'Who?' ... i've never heard of this guy. but you can't blame people for sticking to their first impressions of you, like people say, first impressions are important! Depending how it goes, they may or may not give you a second chance haha

in ANY jkn video, take a shot when: steve or david says 'you know what i mean', whenever steve talks like he's black, whenever bart mentions his experience in the military, whenever steve stutters

I don't know how you guys couldn't have gotten the pewdiepie one right and still be a hot take. It would've required watching the original vids which would've taken like 30 minutes.

After watching his interviews I have actually respected Martin Shkrelli especially the interview with the Breakfast Club
@anamatz28996 жыл бұрын
Okay steve we get it, you have remorse for the hard workers who've coincidentally shown bad morals. Look past racist actions by Logan Paul towards japanese and fucking look past the systematically overcharged drug that is hurting the "few". You've been a troll on youtube and i love your work but you have to distinguish your trolling from shkrelli's. It's not the same...and Tiffany please do more research when presenting stories like these so you can take more charge because joe and steve always veer off into random things trying to fill gaps in the story.

Why can JK call themselves comedians but other KZbinrs are a youtube personality, no dudes, if they aren't comedians then you aren't either Steve green seems like an actual comedian tho. But come on give them some credit where it's due
@bigmahc48356 жыл бұрын
Because David, Joe, Bart and even Geo have all preformed comedy on stage.
@Tailong6 жыл бұрын
Actually only David calls himself comedian, Bart and Joe have said in multiple episodes that they are not comedians.
@isabella29776 жыл бұрын
Okay, but Pewds isn't a comedian, and he even says he's not a comedian. he just makes videos about things he's interested in and sometimes people find it funny. i wouldn't call pewdiepie a comedian either, he's just funny sometimes.
@tomasocava20866 жыл бұрын
BIG MAHC Geo on stage? Besides David's weak appearance their live shows are plain AF.

Thank goodness for Steve being devil's advocate because he's really not that horrible of a person, he's just giving society the finger every now and then.

yeah i agree, most of the media painted him out to be this super evil super villain but looking at all the facts it's like "that's it? that's all he's done" people in Australia get lesser sentences for rape and murder, smh.

Drug wasn't for aids or cancer... tiff really needs to research that part. Apart from that skrelli loves to fuck with people and be a troll.
