The 1st time I saw this my mouth dropped at what a twist of fate this was. After everything that happened between them up until this point, this was quite a shocker. Martin and Sonia having Rebecca at 15 then having her adopted, then Martin killing Jaime, her first love in a car accident. Martin came out of prison a different person acting in ways that confirmed the hate he felt about himself, but here his guilt/shame completely took over to the point where the one person he inflicted the most damage on was the one to whom he would spill his guts. Sonia forgave him in more ways than one after offloading all that pent up rage. The first time Martin and Sonia slept together, he treated her appallingly but after the second time he fell in love with her.

@@SA-dt2cdTrue. They may as well be soulmates but inspite of how much they cared for one and other, Martin & Sonia weren't enough for each other to be content as married lovers. Which is why the marriage ended. Plus since they broke up, Martin's life's been quite eventful while Sonia's has been stagnant in comparison.

Well they were on and off. Plus Jamie cheated on Sonia twice. With Zoe Slater & Janine Butcher. Martin & Sonia had a great thing going but as time went on for each other, they clearly weren't enough. And they ran it's course.

OK. I am like 11 years behind the current episodes, here in Florida. But is Martin now gone? Or is the actor gone, replaced with someone else? I thought that Sonia went gay with that black girl.Naomi?, WAY back in 2005, that is the year WE are at here in the state. So I thought she was/is a lesbian...do i guess she switched back,ever so easy on a soap! I have a million questions, but i have to watch what i can in here, and trying to find episodes on the 'official site' BUT it is locked out to play in the USA, so i cant see them!!!!! i thought I saw that Martin is now ,2017 married to that Stacey Slater??? Is that true? HOW did that happen...anyone? Did Pauline and Joe ever make it last? AND what was/is Joes big secret? When they got married, they came home from their honeymoon,2005, and some 'friend' of Joes , Bert, was in Paulines home. BUT he had some BIG secret on Joe. WHAT IS THE SECRET...I got to know!!!! I personally do not see the popularity of Sonia I dont think shes particularly Attractive at all actually quite the opposite and no lips stringy thin hair overweight now i dont care if she is straight or gay i just would have thought the popularity of the character would lend in part a very pretty person and thats just my opinion im sure many find her attractive I dont

This is not an American soap(obviously) where everyone is beautiful. It's regular people, like in real life. That's why I prefer British shows, the actors are more realistic. Some plainer ,some prettier. And I'm not knocking Sonia at all ,I think she's cute and very nice which make her (and nice people in general) attractive!

i am very aware it is a British soap i have watched for 20 yrs + and that has nothing to do with the fact that i think the character sonia is not very attractive certainly Martin was much more handsome and there are many attractive women as well@@ufochris

I am well aware this is a British soap opera i dont watch any here but have watched Eastenders for more than 20 years I dont find Sonia the character very attractive at all yes my opinion and thats in no way casting aspersions on her or any british actresses as unlike you infer! Many are quite pretty and even beautiful Kat for one her daughter Sharon Watts Stacy and a lot more I just didnt see her with Martin and everyone else that were not women yet prettier than her again its an opinion
