"I'll See You In My Dreams".......Music by Isham Jones & lyrics by Gus Kahn & first published in 1924. It was No.1 for many weeks in 1925 & has slipped easily into that magical land where beautiful & timeless tunes reside! Hear Mr.Atkins play it SO beautifully....although Chet could ONLY play ANYTHING beautifully of course. Best Wishes.

huxtable2000, since this thread is a bit old, you may never read this. Back in the 1980's I saw/heard Martin Taylor live, smokin' hot, with Stefane Grapelli and David Grisman (I think it was call "The Dawg Tour"). What music. A young Mark O'Connor also played guitar. He was allowed one song on fiddle. Fabulous stuff.

Cool duet with The Breshman. Tom, that looks like one of your dad's old guitars. I didn't know you used your thumb over the neck just like he did.

Tuck Andress recommends whatever gets the thing playable, go for it, and he is a thumb-over guy with great separation of bass lines, chords, and melodies & grooves like Masa Sumide in Lenny Breau's world. I have a small Johnny Smith collection of solo pieces, he's the style I was taught early '70's as a young Tweener/teener taking lessons thru' the 7 old Mel Bay Guitar Method books: solo guitar with a flatpick. I'm a 50-something fingers & picks man now, wishing he had Ana Vidovic's technique.

I personally have a tough time getting thumb-over-neck chords if I'm playing my early '70's Guild D-50 acoustic. My excuse is the neck is not thin or flat enough, plus I tighten up my fretting hand and muff thumb over notes on the 5th string.
@richardpehtown24126 жыл бұрын
I had a D-50 for 30+ years till it was worn out. I picked up a lower-end Martin, which is much easier to play and sounds pretty nice. They could make two Martins with the wood in a D-50. And then there's the mighty Guild F-50, what can you say? Sorry about just talking about playing guitars, this performance makes me want to hack my fingers off and play b@njo with my feet. Truly stinky, that.
