He knew what was going to happen and was there to take her to where she could be happy with other children.

The little boy was her guardian angel who suffered the same fate previously. All the children at the end are a representation of that. Each of those kids at the end of the video suffered that same fate, but you find them together and happy for the first time. It took death for them to be happy because they weren’t loved in life, they were beaten and abused literally to death, but also shows God didn’t forget them, by uniting them together in the afterlife as they all make their way to heaven. This song was to bring awareness to child abuse and not to sit idly by and watch it or pretend you don’t see it. This song *NEVER* fails to make me cry *EVERY SINGLE TIME.*

If you know the Old Testament and have read it, you will realize the similarity of the child/angel to that of Saint Raphael in Tobit's journey. The Holy Archangel Raphael appears to him disguised as a traveler and not only can he see him but also his father, which means that he became visible to both of them for a time so that Tobias could fulfill God's command to heal his father and marry Sarah. The same thing happens with this boy in the video, he was seen only when they were talking in the square but not when he was at the window and in the cemetery and that is why, being an angel, he crossed the others and met the girl. . If you notice, also notice that they never hold hands or hug until she dies. That means that he did not have a body but he did have a spirit, but she saw him as such. The fact that they climb the hill means that they went up to heaven where the other children who died were and were buried in the same place.

A spanking is not the same thing as abuse. Abuse is hateful, uncontrolled, violent, and destructive. A spanking should never be given in anger, done sparingly, with control, only mildly painful for a minute or two, and instructive--with a clearly outlined intent to teach the kids consequences in order to prevent much worse consequences. When you started calling that mom's violent abuse a "whooping" I was floored.

The name on the Concrete Angel statue on the plaque was Angela Carter, Martina's real life niece. Martina's sister (going through a divorce) abused and killed her own daughter.
