This is why it is pissing me off that people aren’t letting Ten Hag cook. SAF was given all those years to perfect the recipe. We’ve spent over a decade now jumping from manager to manager because they don’t turn the club around in a couple of seasons. At this point, what’s the rush? I don’t think there’s a manager out there that could come in and win us the league in their first or second season, but we KNOW we have a manager that can still crown us as champions. He deserves the opportunity to turn things around for us. One of the greatest managers of all time needed half a decade to prove that. Ten Hag’s shown that he has a winning mentality just like SAF. Even amidst the rumours of him being sacked he’s got the confidence to KNOW that wherever his future lies, he WILL be making champions. Only the glory hunters want him out. All the people that just want to see us win the league in an instant. But to win the league with Ten Hag as our manager will be so much sweeter than yet another manager coming in and doing it because of the build-up leading to it.

Injury killed Varane at United, and same is happening to Martinez, both A-tier defenders, which is why we had to suffer through with the average ones ; lindelof and maguire. Varane is already going and we definitely need a new cb, or even two, as the likes of Maguire and Lindelof ought be sold off. Even the makeshift Casemiro ought go also

I’m a red and I know we’ve suffered with injuries all season, so why couldn’t Ten Hag formulate a master plan every week? We were great against City and I’m happy about that but it doesn’t change the season. I also don’t think this game will change Ten Hag’s future: the decision will have already been made, one way or the other. ❤

I’d spend the money on bus fares to and from the match on a Saturday and midweek and I’d buy a league match ticket book which allowed access to every home game. There was a token scheme in the United Review match programme so if you saved all the tokens, you got priority, after season ticket holders, for Wembley tickets if we made the cup final. Sometimes there would be a token in a midweek reserves game, so you’d have to go to watch that too. My ticket was for the scoreboard paddock which was uncovered, so, if it was raining, you’d have to stand there, on a Wednesday night, in the pouring rain/sleet/snow, watching reserve football. I continued to go to the game when I started work as an apprentice earning £32 per week. Sometimes, you wouldn’t get time to go home after work if it was a midweek match: you’d have to get the bus straight after work: you’d have to catch two buses: one into Manchester, then one to Old Trafford. This was in the Dave Sexton and Ron Atkinson years, when we had zero league success but might win the occasional FA cup. And that was what you lived for: hoping for that win every week to make life a bit more bearable. Plastic fan? Get fucked.
