Great video and nostalgic as well as you flew over my old hometown and my old home field at 15:40. Thank you so much.

Glad to hear you liked it, John. I wish I could fly in Florida more often, especially this time of year when it gets so very cold here in Iowa.

Thank you for another excellent video! I appreciate all of the coms, subtitles, and ForeFlight screenshots. Your videos are a great supplement to my IFR training!

Nice Video Martin. I like how you recorded your iPad. I may have to try that for my next video. ;-) I was hoping to join you guys and meet some fellow BTer's. I was even just north of you at SGJ but I had work obligations. Maybe next time!

+Kristoffer P I hope you can join next time. It was a small group - the weather for the afternoon didn't look all that promising, but we had fun. We'll be back in the area.

Yes, a little different from most days here in the Midwest.

I'm with you on not wanting to be too far offshore. I fly along Lake Michigan and don't like to be more than a mile out with a single screw.

+Craneman Right. Lake Michigan in particular is cold, even in the summer - not a friendly place to ditch in.

Ah, Flagler, or KXFL as it used to be when I was there. Good memories. Did most of my training out of there, must have flown that approach a dozen times. I see they repaved Delta; about time, that thing was riddled with potholes last time I was there (2011, I believe).

I've visited Flagler three times by now. I like it. Also has a nice restaurant right on the field. Do you happen to know why they changed the identifier a few years ago?
@justgoneflying
@justgoneflying 8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, great restaurant. Was the standard lunch place during my training. I have no clue why they changed it, I was wondering the same thing. I know they changed it once before, when it became a controlled airport. But no idea why they changed it again.

I did not see all of the usual propeller versus camera shutter speed artifacts that I usually see. What have you done to eliminate them? Whatever that is, thank you! I did miss seeing the instrumentation you used to show. I liked to watch the artificial horizon at least. I do like the way you show the weather and the other planes around you once in a while. It is really nice not watching the propeller artifacts! Thank you again!

Carl, I used an ND (neutral density) filter on the camera. That helps tremendously with the propeller artifacts. A while ago I made a little video on how this works: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJeui4aMZ8-ZhKs

Great Video! What App were you running on the iPad? It didn't look like ForeFlight to me....
@martinpauly
@martinpauly 8 жыл бұрын
+Scott McElroy Hi Scott, the app I've been using for a few years now is called WingX. It does very similar things as ForeFlight, Garmin Pilot, etc.; these apps mostly differ in their user interfaces.

Nice one Martin. Love the live iPad feed. Did you hook it up to a laptop to record it?
@martinpauly
@martinpauly 8 жыл бұрын
Not a laptop - I sent a video feed from the iPad to a digital (solid state) recording device. Worked pretty well!

It looks like you're using WingXPro Correct? Which ADS-B receiver are you using?
@martinpauly
@martinpauly 8 жыл бұрын
Dan, yes, I use WingX Pro. I have been using it for almost five years, along with the SkyRadar ADS-B receiver. At the time, that was - to my knowledge - the only compatible pair of ADS-B receiver and EFB iPad app. Still going strong. ForeFlight and Garmin Pilot are also nice apps, but I'm so used to working with WingX Pro that it would take me a while to get used to something new.

i hate that foreflight is US only. Shit looks so fucking nice, way better than anything we have here in Europe. Nice video btw :)

Thanks, Thierry. By the way, the app I use is WingX, not ForeFlight.

***** huh, looks quite a bit like foreflight on first glance. You don't happen to know if they operate in Europe? Their website is quite vague...
@martinpauly

I don't believe it works in Europe, Thierry.
