When Marty came out with this song, my Granny immediately recorded the Nashville Now episode he was on, so we'd have the song to listen to all the time. This is true country music! Why can't they have this kind of music nowadays?

My family and I just saw a concert of his last night. It was a tribute concert showcasing Merle's songs. It was a very enjoyable concert. You could tell he really enjoyed it. We met him afterwards and he was so personable and genuine. He is a really great guy. I was looking for his earlier stuff and found this because I don't know his songs real well.

Oh he's like Merel to, he stayed on the straight and narrow, and married a woman and stayed in love with her, and a good Christian man, they didn't always have it easy, but they made it, Marty is a good man

This video is from 1988 the song is called Trains Make Me Lonesome the song was on the now defunct record label MTM Records it only made it to #57 on the Billboard Charts. I have the '45 single. I have this same video on one of my old VHS tapes. It's from the old TNN show "Video Country with Shotgun Red". The song was redone by George Strait but the best version will always be Marty's. This song is very hard to find. You can't even get it on Limewire. Fantastic song though great memories!

This song shows what a great writer Marty Haggard is.

This song was written by Paul Overstreet. I love the way that Marty sang it. Merle definitely has some fine Sons that not only look like him, but sound so much like him . Ben can play like his Dad really good and sounds the most like him. Noel Haggard is also great. I know Merle had to have been proud of his boys.

Marty has a really good voice. Wonder why we don't hear more from him? Maybe he's stepping back to give Ben and Noel the spotlight. Would like to see all 3 of them together doing Dad's songs!

its not that hard to live up to a famous drunken felon, unless you're this man, sad stuff
@JHoselton833 жыл бұрын
Lol... Wasn't aware that Merle was known for being a drunk. A felon, yes, and he did his time and paid his dues for the mistake that he made. Being perfect gives you the green light to spew b.s. about a man and his deceased Father? No skeletons to hide big Jimbo? Nah... I bet you've got some sh*t in your closet. Saint Jimbo doesn't fit. Speaking of closets, maybe you should come out of it. Get it all off of your chest before your wife finds what you've been hiding. Best to get out in front of it. I mean, it was only those few times. The wind in your hair, blowing those three strangers under your favorite pine tree on Brokeback Mountain may not even be a deal breaker.
