I've been in bits ever since my son told me the news lastnight at 10:23. Thanks for sharing this true story about this song. May Our beloved Gordon Lightfoot rest in Peace and Love knowing he touched us all very deeply with is lyrics! That his music will live on forever! We are so proud of him in Canada, that he never left to seek fame, he got it and stayed right here living in Toronto!. 84 years was a pretty good run too! CBC free streaming service GEM, has a fabulous documentary about Gordon, done a couple of years ago.
