Really loved this one, my grandpa restored a 64-1/2 convertible and the Mustang will always have a place in my heart. Good on ya for bring this car back to glory (by the way, it appears to be a 65-66 as most people choose to ignore the 64-1/2 designation when making these cars into models) keep it easy and have a wonderful day

Great work Marty! Yes, it took longer than expected, but the final result looks just like the one I've had for over 35 years, that's in very good condition. It was part of my grandmother's Christmas decorations and by the time I got it, it wasn't a toy to me, but a keepsake. In fact, you've restored quite a few of the Matchbox cars I got from Grandma; the Lomas Ambulance, the Greyhound bus, the Denver fire truck, and at least 11 other models. The Lomas Ambulance restoration was the first video of yours that I saw, and I was hooked.

Hi Marty. Hello from Germany. Early afternoon over here, and i just enjoyed your new makeover. Good work! So much problems, but you made it and brought this 53year old Mustang back to life. Nice idea to keep the painting details more to the original. Imo it saves the charme and attraction of these old toys. You used plastic glue from Revell, a german company. They produce plastic scale model-kits. In my childhood days, middle of the 70's, i made a lot of them. Revell, Airfix and at least Matchbox. Thank you for another fantastic video. Keep up your good work.

Excellent work...! When my brother turned sixteen years old, he convinced my parents to purchase him an old beat up 66 fastback Mustang in the same off-white color. He worked on that car for two decades and raced it at many local tracks. I’ve been looking for this casting for him...someday.

Marty, Great save on the suspension with the plastic. I think it’s better than new too! Also, a heat gun is a little safer than a torch if you’re trying to bend or straighten plastic. I use one for fixing warped walls when I’m building structures.

I know you hit quite a few snags with this resto, but you brought back such childhood memories. This was one of my favorite toy cars as a child (the other was a HW red spectraflame '67 Camaro). I had this exact model, the white w/ red interior. Your ingenuity over adversity really shown thru in this build. It's amazing how a child can paint over the whole car twice, once with red, then yellow enamel paint & nothing happens. But you try to restore the car & the paint shrivels up the suspension piece. I guess the innocence of child creativity can suspend such things as chemical reactions and the laws of thermodynamics. lol. Enjoy your videos, as always Marty. Keep up the fun!

One of my favorite Matchbox cars. The 38 Mustang was the only one to use the protruding peg to steer the wheels. Auto-steer replaced it. With Auto-steer you push down on the right Fender and the wheels would turn right, push on the left fender it would steer the other way. Auto-steer went out the door when Superfast came along.
