Maruti Jimny 5-door SUV India launch has finally been confirmed by the automaker. The company conveyed its launch plan to dealers during the recently held dealer conference. Here, the compact SUV will arrive in its 5-door avatar instead of the 3-door version that was previewed at the 2020 Auto Expo. Though, its launch date and details are yet to be revealed by the carmaker. The 5-door Jimny will be positioned against the upcoming 5-door Thar and Gurkha SUVs.
the new Maruti Jimny 5-door will be made available with the 1.5L K15B petrol engine benefited with the 12V SHVS mild hybrid technology. It’s the same powertrain that does duty in the Vitara Brezza, Ertiga, S-Cross and Ciaz. The gasoline unit makes a top power of 102bhp and 138Nm of torque. The compact SUV is likely to be offered with two gearbox options - 5-speed manual and 4-speed torque convertor automatic.
Compared to the 3-door version, the 5-door Jimny will be 300mm longer and sit on 300mm longer wheelbase. The latter measures 3850mm in length, 1645mm in width and 1730mm in height with a wheelbase of 2550mm. The Jimny will have 50mm longer wheelbase, but 145mm shorter than the Vitara Brezza. Its ground clearance will stand at 210mm and it will have a kerb weight of 1190kgs.
The India-spec Jimny will be packed with features such as LED DRLs and LED taillamps, powered ORVMs, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, height adjustable driver’s seat, automatic climate control, hill hold assist, cruise control, rear AC vents and many more goodies.
