All that bumf sinergy seems to make nightcrawler one of the most complex and interactive hero itself. I really excited about what hard decision you will have to make every round: spend the bumf now or keep it to another card. Great design.

My favorite is Teleport Drop. With the art and theme. It's quite good, but the art really brings it to the top for me.

That little critter in the corner is called a Bamf. They're little "demons" that are associated with Nightcrawler and sort of listen to him.

That sounds amazing! Would it synergize with UK though? I think "you" have to defeat the enemy and I think that means UK wouldnt count

Personally at face value I'd say "you" should include allies since it doesn't specify "your hero" but at the same time "you" has been used differently in almost every possible context so I guess it'll be a case of maybe waiting for a ruling

Awesome video - so glad you recorded the joint reaction video! I think Under Control is very good for perfect defense heroes. Oftentimes the villain is punching too hard to reliably trigger a perfect defense, so if you have ample allies to chump block the villain but want to use your defense each round, I think this card is exceptionally strong and incentivizes defending more than just the villain - Particularly when you pair it with Change of Fortune and Unflappable (to kill the minion, draw 3 cards, maybe remove threat with hard to ignore).

Notice that "Under Control" doesn't discard after the minion attacks and/or takes damage, so if you put it on a beefier minion, they can take multiple instances of damage from it (I'm looking at you, prelates of Apocalypse!) Also, it says "After a hero defends...", so as the minion is passed with the first player, the new first player can trigger it if they defend and don't take damage, it's not just you or your hero that can trigger it. I'm envisioning a deck with this and "Containment Strategy" where you deal damage and remove threat simply by playing a perfect defense.

the 2 allies are crazies : Rogue with ally Prof X, you thwart fort 8 + confuse or 13 ! With Gambit, MPV ally in a shield deck (Global logistic/Blindlofd) or Scarlet Witch (her capacity) and her crown (plus one) ! With him, more the deck is harder, more better he is

I'd love if Nightcrawler's signature ally was the Bamfs from that one comic, but that seems unlikely. Otherwise, this is just perfect for me and since Nightcrawler is my favorite X-Man I couldn't be happier. A cheap kit with a unique and interesting mechanic, good for Protection, and a form-changing card. Let's gooo!

Worth mentioning; you can use Rapid Teleportation to fetch the Bamf! from discard if you need a Strength resource. Pretty narrow case, but it came to mind.

Hey guys, thank for the in depth review. I printed out a proxy version of the Nightcrawler cards (using 3 copies of Bamf! in the kit...which feels right). After playing around with him a bit, I think that Tech Crawler is going to be really strong. Here is the deck list (obviously, we are missing about three cards from Nightcrawler's kit, but those can just replace some of the cards in this list when he comes out): Total Cards: 40 Allies: 5 1x Forge 1x Mockingbird 1x Nick Fury 1x Polaris 1x Rogue Events: 12 1x 'Port Away (Not sure if this will be 1 or 2 copies of it, so I just went with what Villain Theory suggested.) 2x 'Port and Punch 3x Repurpose 2x Scout Ahead 2x Tally Ho! 2x Teleport Drop Player Side Schemes: 2 1x Establish Perimeter 1x Astonishing X-Men Resources: 5 1x Genius 1x Energy 1x Strength 2x The Power of Protection Supports: 3 1x Deft Focus 1x X-Gene 1x The X-Jet Upgrades: 13 1x Armored Vest 3x Bamf! 1x Deft Focus 3x Energy Barrier 1x Electro Static Armor 2x Forcefield Generator 2x Unflappable Basically using Bamf! during the villain phase lets you defend for 3-6 (Retaliate 0-2 depending on upgrades) without exhausting. Draw 1 from Unflappable. Nightcrawler can then Basic thwart for 2. Then ready use Repurpose, which lets him basic attack for 3-4. All without playing the other cards in his hand. It's so much fun.

I love Teleport Drop. I’ve never seen nightcralwer as an offensive menace due to most of the allies/enemies he’s shown with. But dropping someone out of the sky and letting gravity do the heavy…pulling…is quite effective on many marvel villains.

ooh, imagine pulling "Dragon" (From Mojo mayhem) out for Gambit (4 boosts), and boosting Gambit and healing him. He'd like another full hero on your board if you could keep him alive. Of course, that would be super situational, and a one in a million pull. But I'd love to focus a deck on that just to try and make it happen. :)

In the comics there are Bamfs from hell. They are miniature elf nightcrawler clones that help him in various storylines. Wouldnt be shocked if he gets 2-4 of them. Im guessing 3 bamfs, and his sword to round out the kit or 2 bamfs and 2 swords.

Maybe this has been answered with other cards but Under Control brings up an interaction question with Valkyrie. Assume we are playing true solo. If Valk defeds against the minion and it has Death-Glow and Under Control attached, did Valkyrie defeat the minion for the Death-Glow trigger? Sentence 1&2 seem to contradict in this case. • Upgrades - Unless attached to a different character, upgrade cards are considered to be an extension of the controlling player’s identity. Attacks, thwarts, defenses, action abilities, and triggered abilities that resolve on upgrades in play under a player’s control are also considered to be resolved by that player’s identity.

Unadvertised cards I'm expecting for his kit: A 2 cost rapier/ cutlass upgrade that gives him +1 attack and retaliate. Maybe this could be two 1 cost upgrades if they want to make them a pair like Drax's knives Some sort of Chapel support card that gives him a conditional heal or helps cycle cards back into his deck An Amanda Sefton signature ally Azazel as his Nemesis, with a side scheme that does damage whenever a Bamf! enters the discard pile due to a card effect

Looking at the numbering, I'm betting on three copies of Bamf! in the deck. It's card 6 of the whole deck and card 5 in Nightcrawler's set. Card 7 for the whole deck is 'Port and Punch, which is card 8 in his set. So 5, 6, 7 of his set should be Bamf! I'm super excited for this pack. I've been wanting Nightcrawler since X-Men were first announced. Now they just need to give me Beast.

Regarding hero defense and Under Control - Couldn't you play something like Jump Flip, since you typically know how much a minion will hit you, so it makes you 'defend' the attack, reduces the damage taken, removes threat, and whacks the minion for 4 damage. It's 3ER if you include the Under Control cost for 4 damage, 2 damage reduction, and 2 threat off the main. It's an interesting card. Something to keep an eye on as the card pool grows.

I'm a bit excited about the Queen keyword. If we get a Hellfire Club Scenario Pack, we'll potentially have Black, White, and Grey Queens and Kings. They could do a lot with those Key-Words. Might be fun if we get a Magneto hero pack (believe he was the Grey King when he led the X-Men).

I think we might see like 4 Bamfs in the deck, that would be cool. what i like is that there is a use for them other than just attaching to enemies, so if you are playing a scenario that doesn't have many minions it still has a use. I also really like the green cards, I love playing a retaliate/punishing the enemies for attack me deck, so they will just be more tools in my kit :D

Astonishing X-Men has to be misprinted. Having a 5 threat side scheme that players can thwart to instantly stun and confuse all enemies seems way overpowered (not to mention weird if nobody is playing with x-men). My guess is that you can’t thwart it regularly.

IMO, Astonishing X-men is missing something: "per player icon" and/or Hinder combo even if "2: hinder3". We have these existing mechanics for a reason :( Also, Executioner, on reveal, will "Attack" (not merely "activate") vs target even if the player is in AE! For those going home to rest on lowHP...and may/may not have a chump-block at the time. AND he WILL just target an ally on 1-2HP remaining (leaving a healthy ID alone) and thus you have to actively block with some other "healthy" source. He gonna be a BAD MAN! He gonna EAT allies!

I think rogue is so obviously good she's making Gambit fly under the radar in leadership recurring gambit with like to me my X-Men pixie and make the call you could see/control so many villain cards

My first thought with Rogue is using her in protection X-23. The damage can ready X-23 and make Rogue a 4 thwart in protection which is huge. X-23 protection can usually handle threat fine anyway just because she’s so strong but being able to focus on attacking mostly while Rogue does huge chunks of thwart could be huge. Rogue also is amazing with Professor X or Nick Fury, since you don’t care about pinging them with damage and they can boost her stats wildly.

Wait, I interpreted Bamf as redirecting enemies attacks to yourself without declaring a defense, meaning you don’t get to defend you just take the hit. Are you saying that. Bamf allows you to re-direct AND defend for 3 without exhausting?

Also, I would think Sig Ally for Nightcrawler would be his beer-drinking buddy, Wolverine. I can also see Shadowcat or maybe a Bamf (from Kitty's Fairytale. The Bamfs were hilarious). I'm not actually sure what's behind him. It could be one of the creatures from the realm that he travels through when he teleports. I can't remember what they're called.

I don't think he'll have a signature ally since Rogue is his "sister" and she's already Gambit's, I can't think of anyone else, but he might have a sword or two (or three with the tail) as upgrades. BTW, in the Asmodee store you can see Azazel is his Nemesis (DNA father), so it will be interesting how he counter the BAMF with his own BAMF

Nice! Protection is the best! Dragon from fantasy has 4, Frost Giants has a good number, Sinister Assault is pretty loaded with boost icons! There are some interesting ones for sure!

My first guess is that the first three cards will be an ally, his rapier/sword, and an alter-ego Cathedral support. Hoping the ally will be Beast and they have a Team-up card called “Blue(s) Brothers” or something like that

Weird thought... Running a 40 card deck with a bunch of weak allys, intentionally recur executioner to thin out your deck so that you get your hero cards much more often? Nightcrawler getting bamf and his events much more often?
