I remember seeing the Moon Knight issues on the rack in 1993 and making a hard pass. Those Platt issues were hot when they first came out. Funny how they've taken off for a second time. Well, not so funny when I remember that I passed on them.

Really wished I had gone and gotten all those Moon Knights comics when they were in the dollar bins a couple of years back.

My friend over at CGLs Comics channel saw a venom lethal pro gold variant and passed. He could have got it cheap since it was a swamp meet. He really spilt the milk on that one.

Great content, sir! Can't get enough of these! If I recall, 1993 was also the year that all of Marvel's comic annuals featured the first appearance of a new character, one of which was Genis/Legacy. I believe that only a small number of those (new) characters ever picked up any steam. I totally missed out on those Stephen Platt Moon Knight covers, and the copies I encounter at LCS locations are a little more than I'm willing to spend these days for a cover.

The way movies are affecting comics, I'm not really surprised by any book getting expensive these days. Just wish I could keep up on all the spec!

It’s not easy. And minutes after an announcement/appearance everybody has bought the key on eBay.

Been watching your early-90s key videos mostly to see whether I can determine exactly when I stopped buying Marvel & DC stuff - I think I have none of the 93 stuff and don't really remember it, so it's probably 91-92 where I really got out of comics (for a long time). Anyway, good stuff and you do make me want to get some of this stuff, some of the covers for Moon Knight (earlier series also) really stand out. FYI if you haven't heard it, sad news - Gaspard Ulliel, the young French actor playing Midnight Man in the new series, died yesterday in a skiing accident. Don't know how this will affect the series yet.

I heard. That was so tragic.

Ah man. I found my copy of VLP #1 recently that I bought back in ‘93 the Thursday after it was released to my LCS. Amazingly, it’s in fabulous condition, probably 9.2 quality. Off to CGC it went - here’s hoping it comes back with good results!

Nice list! The 90's was my era of comics, wish I would have kept most of them!
@bronzevillecomics25812 жыл бұрын
Yeah. That feeling like I used to have that. When I was a kid my mom would every once in a while throw out some of my comics when she felt there were too many. Some bronze Batman books including 251 are gone - would likely have been around 2.0 grade.
@2ndbestbob282 жыл бұрын
Thankfully I have kept mine, although grade wise, I'm guessing any 9.8's would be wishful thinking... 🙄

I always thought the Moon Knight was interesting back when he first came out but never got interested in the character...probably because in that time only hit tge Werewolf by Night and Marvel Spotlight titles and usage stopped for a period.
@Utubesanarc2 жыл бұрын
The moon night title was eerie, out there, and stuffy. I hated it but those Platt covers were nice.

Moon Knight is EVERYWHERE now. I'll likely watch the marvel series but I was never into Moon Knight that much. Having said that, (a bit of a tangent as this is Marvel) I'm really enjoying the Peacemaker series on HBO.

That's interesting that random Moon Knight books are heating up. I would expect keys but this surprised me. I didn't realize that What The...had run that long. I remember reading some back in the 80s when it first started. I wonder if this means we'll get a Spider-Ham 2098 cameo in the new Spidee-Verse movie. Great list, Jim
@Frankofsector28142 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim, another great video. I always have a two-sided opinion when it comes to Moon Knight. I loved his costume but this tiresome thing with his three different identities was unnerving. I got the complete run of Marc Spector and of course issues 55 and 56 were hot because of the whole Stephen Platt hype. What happened to him, anyway. Did mot see new artwork of his for some years now. In the end I sold issues 55 - 60 as set for a good price. I still have the first 25 issues. I still liked the art of Sal Velluto more than the one of Stephen Platt.

Do the grades of raws even matter any more? It seems that unless you have something from the 60's, it doesn't make sense to spec slab if you can only make money off 9.8's.
@bronzevillecomics25812 жыл бұрын
More modern books are only worth grading for high grades, some only in 9.8. Depends on demand. ASM 300 or Ultimate Fallout 4 are books people will be willing to buy in grades below 9.8. Raw values are important because it takes so long to get graded books back. Plus a lot of collectors prefer to collect raw books.
