Love the game!!! We have all the characters and play tournaments. There are two of us playing and we pick our characters old school yard then randomly create our tournament schedule. Each character is so well thought out, it depending on the roll of the dice and the cards you draw to win. Great strategy and character personality development that the more we play the more impressed we are with the game. SO MUCH FUN - we have all the characters and you are right that you don’t need all characters but it is so much fun we want them all. Very addicting. Thank you so much for the reviews. You are great.

Oooh, a seal of distinction! It is fun indeed. Very happy with my KS Battle Chest for Marvel Dice Throne. :D I haven't tried them all yet, but it's really interenting how such a relatively simple and accessible game can make you feel you're actually playing the characters. I started my collection with a 2 character box three or four years ago. I now have all the characters (though not DTA) and can say it is by far the most played game in my collection. My family love it, particularly my younger siblings and cousins. Whenever we get together it turns into a huge draft and tournament to see who is the best. My top 3 favorite characters have to be: 1) Cursed pirate (S2) 2) Shadow Thief (S1) 3) Artificer (S2) The common theme between these is that they tend to be higher complexity rating. Also, in 25+ plays with the cursed pirate, I have never lost, so I tend to think that character is a bit stronger than the others.

Definitely agree with 2 players being the ideal size, but I do appreciate the variant rules they have to make playing with more actually playable. Something that I like with my marvel set is just the quality, the painted dice and art are great.

I love dice throne. As you mentioned it is accessible and fun. There are a lot of those moments that everyone gets excited about a roll. I introduced it to my non gamer wife and she enjoyed. At first she was having the same feeling of that is too much to decide than I told her. Always do the first roll and than you start to decide where you wanna go. That helped her narrow down the options and enjoy the next rolls to try to get what was the best at the moment.

Cheers, price for a few boxes at discount is good - I have most - definitely did not go down the mini path they offer on KS

You nailed it. It's just fun. This is one of my favorite 2--player games. I've never been a fan of luck, and tend to not lean toward dice heavy games, but there's always something you can do with what you roll and it's up to how much you want to push it. Plus the card play is excited. Just a fun game.

Love Dice Throne.. I recommend that you get the Battle chest with 8 characters. We normally play 3 times so we use different characters so that’s 6 characters.. love the marvel theme. It’s one of my top 5 games of all time. It’s so good. Everything is well balanced. The art and production is amazing. It’s worth the price.

Yep. I've got Season 2 chest and Marvel and it's one of my favorite 2 player games. Quick to get going and play. And most people already understand Yahtzee.

Played my first game at 5, no one knew the rules, learning on the fly, with 4 player rules because no one wanted to learn even more rules on the fly „and how different could it be“ lol I still liked it, recognizing it would be really good at 2players, but I was the only one, hahaha

Have you tried unmatched? It’s similar in character variety and addictiveness, but with fewer options so maybe your girlfriend will like it more. 😂. I know I’m thoroughly addicted to it and when I did try Dice Throne I did so hoping it would be like Unmatched. And it was, so I liked it. Edit: It’s also a little better for the 3 and 4 player counts.

I have tried unmatched, just once, Luke Cage vs Bullseye I think. I was so so on it because I just demolished bullseye, he didn't have a chance and it felt a bit swingy, but I definitely see the comparison and I think is a good recommendation. I liked the system a lot and absolutely LOVED the line of sight in Unmatched. Every game with line of sight should incorporate it moving forward it's so good

@@RoomandBoardReviews gah! The Line of Sight mechanic is BRILLIANT. I will say that your match up was really unfair to Bullseye since most of his attacks are weaker and since Luke Cage has the bullet proof buff that lets him take less damage, I could see that being a SUPER unfair fight. Luke Cage is a little broken in general though, so 🤷‍♂️ If you get the chance to pick up the Cobble and Fog expansion I do recommend it because the characters seem much more balanced.

I'm sorry, the team mode is great. Maybe you didn't get the rules right? You can use cards on your team mates turn, I don't think that's down time, you can be super engaged in their turn. My ranking is 1vs1 > 2vs2 > Free For All (any number of players).

I got the rules right. Waiting to play one situational card for the entire game where you take one single turn was a bad experience for my friend who would have enjoyed it in the 1v1 mode.

@@RoomandBoardReviews I guess that's a fair point. I don't know, maybe it's just me, because I really love Dice Throne, but I always feel totally engaged in a team game, even if I probably don't "do" as much. On another note: What do you think of the new X-Men campaign? 😉

Dice Throne is amazing, but I disagree with you on the 4 pack being the sweet spot, or all you need. I always tell people who are thinking of getting into Dice Throne to buy one of the full season Battle Chests, or the full Marvel Battle Chest. If you like the game (spoiler alert: You WILL like the game), you're going to want all of the characters. I can't imagine someone trying a 4 pack, loving it, and deciding not to get any more. I would only recommend a smaller pack if I knew that someone's gaming budget made the full season purchase untenable.

I love playing with 3 players. The worst part of 2 player games is that if someone get's lucky or unlucky then it's no fun. At 3 players it balances the luck.

I didn't back it, but if I see it at the retail level for like 20-30 bucks I'd probably pick them up.
