I have no problem making Deadpool deluxified. Since he's a stand alone box, they can't add his mini into the mini bundle because people may have have him. Nor can they add his deluxe tokens into the token pack for the same reason. When you have a one-off character, his extras would have to be one-off as well. I think it simplifies the packaging and production for Roxley. Now if you wanted to argue about having him be one-off, that's a fair discussion. But I don't think they did this for the FOMO in any way. My two cents. Love the channel!

I have all of the Dice Throne characters and felt very content with what I had. Was not planning on buying more but I can't pass up xmen, they're just too cool. I sometimes get frustrated at the randomness of the game (specifically what cards you will draw) but I also appreciate that it doesn't feel like i'm playing the same game each time. Having more characters helps with this. Dice Throne has been a good gateway for friends who don't play board games which is why it will always have a spot on my shelf

I wasn't sure how I would take your concerns with the campaign, but I actually think I agree with your major issue. The Deadpool character situation feels weird. I would love the upgraded tokens, but if I'm going to do it I would like to do it for all 32 dice throne characters and that would end up being $200+ dollars when adding the original character tokens sold on BGG. I also don't do the minis. I'm fine with the standard cardboard tokens, but will be weird to have just one character with everything upgraded. Two things come to mind though. The cost of the campaign is going to look huge for anyone jumping in now. For me I've got everything DT so I don't need the Marvel characters or Marvel sleeves. It's much more reasonable for a good portion of us. It also has Missions included in this campaign compared to the first Marvel just having the characters. There is just so much more to consider in this campaign. And that leads me to my second comment. This is a collaboration with Roxley and the OP which means everyone is trying to make their money on this and I assume Marvel has some strict guidelines for something like this. I saw some updates to the production value of the retail release box and that too is a bit unfortunate. I'm a much bigger fan of the game than you are so I get most of your hesitations. Seeing that you weren't a huge fan of Marvel DT and Roxley I think you did a great job with this campaign review. I've subscribed to see what else you are putting out!

I just got the MDT recently and i am backing the Xmen one. I am getting the new game play and adding both sets of figures. I love the 90s xmen and they remind me of them(slightly). They are less than $6 per mini and thats painted. In the most recent update DT said they are looking into adding the cardboard pieces and standee for Deadpool. Jean Grey us 100% the most powerful out of those. She can make people do anything with her mind and move crap haha. The second though would be Rogue.

100% accurate on the kids thing. While I do really like Dice Throne myself, my daughter started playing last weekend and we've played for 8 hours + since then. She can't wait for the X-Men. Gambit would be my favorite out of that group and he has a fairly obscene power level in some comic arcs as well.
@SuperSmashBoiz11 ай бұрын
I backed the new gameplay tier, and I'm glad I did. They announced that the two 4x4 retail boxes WON'T have trifold boards. It's not going to be like the original Marvel 4x4 box that had 4 characters n the same plastic trays that they've been using since season 2. It will probably be more along the lines of the original season 1. When I heard that, I was so glad I backed it. I doubt the trifold boards will be kickstarter exclusive tho. The battle chest will likely end up on the official Dice Throne shop just like all the others (along with all the FOMO deluxe upgrades probably). I bought all of season 1 rerolled specifically bc they redid the original 6 season 1 characters in the format of season 2.

Great video! I’m on the fence about this one as I have too many all ins of Marvel United as well as a healthy Legendary and Champions collection so I feel like I have enough marvel. Some for family, wife and myself respectively in how I listed them. Plus I’m mostly interested in the missions and if that’s not the main mode of play maybe it’s best I stick with my games designed first for co-op. As for favorite X-Men? Definitely Cyclops hands down, love zapping everything. That’s actually another small strike against this incarnation is he only really has two optic blast-like abilities and they are both super rare to get. So the hero whose main power is shooting energy out of his eyes will almost never do that. Alas my two thoughts.

just a heads up, they just announced that the deadpool pack will include cardboard chits and character standees, so it'll match all the other heroes. still expensive for a single hero imo, but at least ocd folks will be happy. :) (note that i am not making fun of ocd folks, i'm probably one of them lol.)

It’s amazing to see this game be in the arena of $600 when huge campaign games with more miniatures and 100+ hours of content have been just a little over half that price. No judgement from me. To each their own. The best X-men is Wolverine….to me.

Gambit is definitely my favorite. All other opinions are wrong, it’s a scientific fact. I agree with you - Dice Throne overall is not exactly my preferred depth, but lots of people like it. I’m trying to figure out if I need yet another game for “when my kids get older…” We already have a bunch of favorites (Smallworld, KingDomino, and Santorini are three we’re playing a lot now), so is it worth my money and shelf space when there are minimal KS exclusives, just a slight savings over retail? I dunno.

My issue is always the lack of Villain characters in Dice Throne. I like to have that Villain vs Hero dynamic. However this always has that Hero vs Hero Dynamic. Drop Ice Man, and Psylock and put in Magneto and Apocalypse. That's my main issue along with it being ridiculously expensive. I'll stick to Sentinels, while not having IP Heroes, it sticks to that Hero Villain dynamic. As for the most powerful its got to be Rouge, she just needs to get close to take anyone else out of the ones here.
@RJM141011 ай бұрын
I think the problem is that because missions exists, they need iconic villains for you to fight. Does suck tho cos I guess it's the reason we won't get a prof X Vs Magneto set which would be so good
@LikeGodzzila20 күн бұрын
@@RJM1410 I wouldn't look too hard into that, as they have Scarlet Witch has a villain to fight on the Missions too, and she is a playable character already. I guess that if they ever decide to do Villains, it will be like a one or two 4-hero boxes of villains (like they're doing with x-men now)

My previous backing of DT products included the deluxe sleeves and now I'm seeing a few Synth cards in the stretch goals. Combining synth with deluxe sleeved cards somewhat makes my brain hurt. I now have Synth cards in Too many Bones and in a Roxley product but now I'm potentially looking at a mixed card environment in the DT Marvel line up. If I have a synth card I don't need sleeves. Anyway, its an intriguing combination in my view and one that may lead to confusion as to why some cards aren't sleeved and then my memory will fail to recall that its synth and I will end up sleeving it anyway with a Sleeve Kings premium 100 micron sleeve. Ugh. Not sure it was a good idea to mix these together.
@joelface Жыл бұрын
In DT, there are never entire decks that are synth. The synth cards are reserved for cards separate from the regular deck, and they aren't intended to be sleeved with the regular DT deck. So there's room for both a sleeved deck and the separate unsleeved synth cards.

It's strange that you say it's just dice. It's dice, and cards, and cardboard player boards and leaflets.. acrylic tokens, card sleeves... minis. I actually don't know WHAT component you're thinking of other games having that make them "more" than Dice Throne. Besides, dice are actually one of the more expensive components to create for a game, from what I know, especially if they're deluxified swirly beautifully coloured and painted dice. Of course, I realize that you don't care for the game that much, which maybe explains why you're feeling so critical of the higher priced versions. But those upper-tiers in the campaign are definitely reserved for people who DO like the game, or who otherwise always like to buy the most deluxified versions of games. The new gameplay bundle, I think, is a total steal of a deal in terms of pure content, especially factoring in the content that has been added from the campaign's funding quests. I think it's great that you can play ALL the full game, all of the co-op Missions game, and 9 full, highly balanced DT heroes for that price -- and all of the deluxe stuff can be added on just to make your copy extra special, but not at all needed. I love that. I think they did it right, personally.
@GameBrigade Жыл бұрын
But those components are not as expensive to create as you're asserting. 5 dice, a leaflet, 50 cards and a plastic insert is very minimal. They have extremely good margins on this. The IP alone is probably their single largest expense

Dice Throne was one of the games we loved early in the hobby. We've progressively played it less and less and the previous Marvel campaign sorta sucked the air out of the originality of the product for me. Dice Throne Adventures was also a bad co-op implementation of the game, which further decreased my interest in it. I think there will always a spot for the original characters in our collection, but the Marvel IP (as much as I love marvel...or do i even love it anymore?!) is becoming too common in the hobby. Also, I always gotta go Wolverine. Colossus is my favorite X-Men, but sadly not in this campaign.

I'll say, I've been interested in Dice Thrones since I've know about it (think it was Marvel 😅) but the price point is hard to justify (for me) with regards to what you get. But on this campaign, it's been taken to a whole new level. I mean, 45$ for a few minis and that's not even all, you need two packs if you want OG Marvel as well. Acrylic Tokens for 40 to 55$ ??? You're being way too greedy Roxley
@joelface Жыл бұрын
8 painted minis for 45 dollars. That's around 5.5 bucks per mini. It's not that crazy for the size, detail of sculpt, and the paint job. The paint job for the S1 and S2 Dice Throne minis was surprisingly very, very good. I have no doubt these will be at least as good.
