Great open & honest review as always. Hasbro should have considered a mobility scooter as a stretch goal to address those loose hip and knee joint issues 🤔
@ThisIsAUsername4143 жыл бұрын
At first, I felt like this was pretty impressive just because of how hasbro was trying new stuff. Sure more paint, more accessories, better articulation, all can make a better product. But then I began comparing the price of this thing to other similar-sized figures like the ones Hot Toys makes. Then I realized for the price they were asking for, this should've been much better.
@solomfr63713 жыл бұрын
Did you see the rancor that failed? It looked like a black series rancor and they wanted 350 for it. Multiple haslabs now have design and quality control problems. Not worth the gamble for the price they are asking.
@WiGgYof093 жыл бұрын
I honestly thought this would be better. I was expecting ratcheted joints. I was fine with the paint, or lack of it. It is meant to be a giant marvel legends sonI didn't expect shading. However, loose joints in th knees and hips is just awful. It could have been a lot better, but at the same time it is just a marvel legends. It serves its purpose, just not well.
@jellowpy92433 жыл бұрын
Hot toys comparison is not a good comparison , one that compares to this size is the Hot Toys Hulkbuster. And that one cost around $1.3K-1.5 with taxes .and this one is only $350 so with that said at this price point this is a good product despite its flaws. Only really major complaint with this project is they should have put a stronger ratchet in every joints.
@WiGgYof093 жыл бұрын
@@jellowpy9243 there are other issues that have nothing to do with cost. The neck joint for example. They could have made the whole thing clear so at least the eyes stayed lit up when you moved the head. They chose not to. The range on the regular head is poor. The range on the feet is awful. A big guy like this should be able to move its foot forward more so it can bend down. Again, it serves its purpose. It's a big center piece of a collection meant to build a display around. For me, it is the only sentinel I own. I'm not sorry I bought it. I am, however, dissappointed with some of the execution. I believe a lot of these issues stem from covid related restrictions as this was produced when restrictions were pretty high. Honestly, I'm not sure why they are all still working from home. I hope these flaws do not continue into the Galactus figure and that they learned from the sentinel.

As a kid, a sentinel like this is what I always wanted. I never had the capacity to get the toybiz sentinel and I always hoped they would make something larger like this. I would've loved to be able to play with a toy like this when I was a kid. So while I don't play with my toys like I used to, it's still a dream project and it turned out pretty well. My son is still young but I hope that he will play with figures like I did, and that he will have figures like this to play with if he wants. The adult in me has nowhere to store it or show it off, but the child in me is very happy.

With the money it cost it should have been perfect !

18:14 - 18:19 That is one of the wisest thing I've heard about these types of HasLabs. So many people cite this figure as being one of the best Marvel Legends ever made solely because of its size. I've heard people say that Galctus is even better because it's bigger... is that all the people care about? Apparently so.

How did they not just do ratcheted joints for the legs? They already figured out giant robot articulation on the Transformers team, you'd think they'd walk across the aisle and take notes.
@omegashenron83 жыл бұрын
You mean Takara Tomy figured out giant robot articulation. Takara designs most of the Transformers mainly, Hasbro's TF team isn't really involved much engineering wise. Where as The Marvel Legends team is. Which is why the sentinel has its problems and the giant robots don't.

Thank you so much for this review. It has been the most thorough and detailed video out of all I have seen. I missed out on the campaign (didn't miss the Big G tho) and got caught in the euphoria of the awesome size and unique characteristics of the Sentinel when it was released. I was contemplating stashing some spare $$ away in 2022 to get a Sentinel off the bay to replace the much beloved (yet a tad too small) blue & gray Marvel Universe one. You just saved me about $1K and from my wallet and myself - thank you. The laziness to which Hasbro has been proving excellent at over the last 18 months or so, makes me wonder whether the Mothership experienced some staff turnover. Someone more interested in the bottom line then quality. And that scares the hell out of me and my expectations for Galactus.

I like the one I bought, the knee issue was an easy fix thanks to another reviewer's video. I wish I could have bought a couple more, just to use all the head sculpts at once, and to army build for the shelf, but I don't want to pay eBay prices. I'll just settle for the one I got, and keep the Master Mold head on it, since that is my favorite of the options. As for having a huge figure, I did order the Galactus that is due out next year. Sure, they are big and awkward, but Sentinels and Galactus shouldn't be just six inch to eight inches. They should tower over the six inch characters.

I'm pretty happy with my two. I actually prefer the brand new, straight out of the factory look as opposed to something from Neca. All the extra paint work may have been a staple for Toybiz, but Hasbro is different. Personally, I feel Toybiz & Neca over do it with all the extra. Shading is suppose to come from a light scource & angles, not permanently be etched on to the figures. I do like the sheen from the body surface finish. It gives the illusion, that it's some kind of metallic alloy. The joints do need to be ratcheted & tighter. It does just feel like a large ML's & it shouldn't. This thing required a little more engineering to make it work properly. The hip joints can't hold up the weight of the legs & the arm joints fail when trying to hold a regular ML figure in it's hand. My finger joints also aren't tight enough to properly hold a figure. The hands do seem a bit small as well, anything bigger than a Bucky Cap or a female buck doesn't fit very well. My knee joints aren't horrible, but gravity does pull them down after a few seconds. There are things I wished could've been done better or differently, but over all, I'm glad to have them. You can't have X-Men without proper Sentinels, in my opinion. As to the size, it is accurate according to the 90's Sentinels of it's time. They're supposed to only be 20' tall, although they are represented as appearing much larger at times. So, let's say a Bucky Cap buck is 6' tall, which is roughly 6.25" - 6.5" tall or so. The Sentinel's 26" height is easily 3 & half to 4 Bucky Caps. To me, you're not going to get any closer to scale than that. Certainly not with any of the previous retail releases. Although, I do have a MU Sentinel, which talks & I can use his voice for these Haslab ones.

@@AnthonysCustoms this might just be consumer ignorance but you have worked on an acton figure line so I actually really am curious if any of what I'm about to say tracks or if I am completely off base Kickstarter models primary objective is to make a product that could not otherwise be made. Up and coming creators that could not feasibly produce their work without the upfront cost being paid before hand. Hasbro is a multi billion dollar toy company and second biggest behind Lego so it doesn't feel like they need this model as they could easily make these and sell them like gangbusters. They don't need to establish themselves and using this model with backer goals and the like feels a little predatory as they can't promise you even get everything if enough people don't jump on (which doesn't make it feel like a pre-order which is a guaranteed product and not a maybe you do maybe you don't) maybe I'm also just confused why this wasn't just a pulse exclusive. It's already tooled and prototyped so they don't need the money to make them like independent kickstarters, and I thought the point of pulse was to sell things like this they couldn't get away with at retail and is aimed exclusively at adult collectors.

I like the idea of a larger figure for a sentinel or Galactus. But the idea of Hasbro selling me a 300 dollar figure is what ultimately turned me off. In some figures, we can't get 20 dollars of quality in a 20 dollar figure. How can we expect 300 dollars of quality out of a 300 dollar figure.
@brenoferreiraferreira44093 жыл бұрын
I like the idea of a big ML Sentinel but I hate Haslab because they ignore foreign collectors, you either live in the USA or the UK or you will have to buy this item for at least twice it's retail value. The engineering should have been way better, almost all the articulation points need more range withvery strong ratchets and I also agree it should have more painted details. They should have skipped the light gimmicks in the head because of the dead eyes syndrome and the lack of range in the head articulation. A big figure such as this has to be able to look down and up since other characters have to jump or fly to attack it and they may do it from above, most collectors will use this action figure as a center piece in their displays and probably it will be attacked from all sides. Even though I couldn't preorder the Haslab Galactus because even though I'm a big ML collector I live in Portugal, I hope they learned their lessons for it's release and it comes out a bit better for all of you who were able to preorder it. Thanks for the review Anthony.

I have to say it amazes me how people keep funding these rip off projects. People seem not to realize these “projects” are just to get you money by conning you into thinking these things are worth it. For example a 3rd party oversized Transformer combiner, the same size as this Sentinel runs around $150 or $200. That has 5 or 6 bots and they transform. You can’t say these “projects” are like this because they have to put in the designing and do one. But so does the 3rd party TF companies. Those companies have to design and re-design those bots to make them work at that particular size. So they’re getting paid for those to even if those action figures don’t sell. But the one thing Hasbro has over them is that this is 100% funded by the fans so there’s really no overhead for Hasbro. There’s no excuse for inflation when it comes to retail shops or any of that. The third-party transformers have that they have overhead and they have to sell it at retail. So again there is no reason for a signal to be around 300+ dollars. Or a Rankor to be $350. Or galactose to be $400 or more and so on. Because that’s all profit Hasbro and we’re getting garbage for that price tag. When other companies have proven that they can do better for a lot less money. And those companies don’t have the backing like Hasbro has. Those companies are a mom and pop in my basement or in my garage company. So maybe just maybe we should stop funding these stupid projects and demand more from Hasbro a multi billion dollar company. Instead of everybody buying three or five sky strikers that 90% of the new detail is hidden by panels and flaps and a canopy. Or tears that are only going to be hanging out in a box somewhere in the back of your closet or sold on eBay. Maybe we should demand them to get off their asses and start giving us something worth our while. Like Anthony said this thing should’ve been painted to the nines for that price tag. And all we got was a giant oversized marvel legend with Toybiz hands and a crappy light up feature

I thought promo images rocked but after seeing this? I think I will stick to my transformers. Omega Supreme 24 inches tall and a ton of articulation for 130.00 when I bought it. Plus it transforms lol. 🤦♂️

The lack of leg ratchets is inexcusable in my opinion.

Haslab should make Master Mold

I can’t see the value for the price a bit like the Yellow Planet transformer thingy, the only good Haslabs seems to be the barge and razor crest

Based on the stories line hasbro was going for this sentinel is way under scaled

Pretty cool figure, but a heartbreaking one at the same time. Like you said, it’s a $300 giant Marvel Legend. Nothing really spectacular about it in the long run. I’m curious to see how these will hold up and move in terms of aftermarket years down the line from people who bought multiple.

You're not wrong. The sentinels were a lot more bigger.

I bought this because I’m a huge fan of the Sentinel arcs of the X-Men comicbooks. Knew what I was getting because they showed pictures of this 26in action-figure of the classic Sentinel design. It is in-scale with the ML 6in X-Men figures too. What totally disappointed me was the wonky knees - and now, the hip joints - that flop when I try to pose the figure. That’s an unforgiveable sin for a $300 toy. This has put me off Haslab products for life. They had our money ahead of time and the time to design this properly but screwed it up for their customers. Never again.

Only downside is it would cost too much for them to do Master Mold.

I get I can’t talk since I didn’t back this guy, but Hasbro, ratchet joints exist. I’m not a big ratchet guy, but when you have a figure of this size and weight, I think heavy ratchets for the legs should have been obvious. This seems like they tried to upscale something that works at 6inch range but not at this size.

It’s a cool idea, but I definitely am not getting one. I don’t have the money or the room, and the issues with the articulation are a dealbreaker at that price point.

I've seen Sentinels that are of comparable scale in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, maybe slightly taller than this figure scale-wise.
@marcom773 жыл бұрын
I think it's way too big and I hate electric components in my figures. Even as a MasterMold. I wish they would've made either a 16 inch MasterMold or another 12 inch sentinel Variant. And alot cheaper.

I want one but I'm not paying $750 for it
@mrdude883 жыл бұрын
That’s upsetting. A figure that large can afford more articulation without interfering with the integrity of the figure. Give it butterfly joint, 360 ankle articulation. Size is good, considering Marvel Legends isn’t set to a 1/12 scale but to a universal 6 inches with very slight differences in height. If figure were set to the scale we would have figures in various sizes.

600-700$! Good grief. As much as I’d like to have one of these, I’d be hard pressed to value it at 200$ The scale seems about right as I remember from the comics. Looks great under your lights though, thanks for the review.

I just checked ebay on this guy and yikes, prices are down to $600 free shipping, after fees and shipping you are looking at maybe $470. Then you'd have to pay tax on that income. All on a cost of around $375. Turns out it wasn't such a great investment after all. With how many Galactus' sold I'm expecting ebay flooded barely over retail.

This Sentinel needed tight ratcheting joints everywhere…. 300+ for this…. Um no.
@raymondjones59093 жыл бұрын
I put super glue in the joints and the legs don't bend back at all when I lean it back on my hands or pose it
@AnthonysCustoms3 жыл бұрын
that's a really bad idea. super glue doesn't have any durability in joints and you have a high risk of messing up your figure.

I think the Sentinel is awesome but more paint on the detail sculpt would've made this an even better figure. Glad my only 1 of 3 of my Sentinels has slightly loose knees my other 2 has strong hips and knees

I don't get how neca can make the quarter scale figures with so much paint and led features for 100-200 at most but Hasbro can't.
@ronaldbyrne33203 жыл бұрын
Not can’t. Won’t.

Hasbro stays true to themselves. No matter how much customers pay, they have to fix it and repaints themselves or just suck it up. Or, walk away.
