Toybiz was the best, they were made 20 years ago. They really cared about their figures. Some included comics, bases, smaller figures as accessories, stands, cards, way more paint than what hasbro puts on their figures. They really pushed the envelope for action figures. Just imagine the crazy stuff they would have made today, with updates on articulation and new characters. This is the biggest “what if” when it comes to figures.

Legendary heroes was a cool like. I had the whole first series. I still have dredd and judge death. The problem with them was the plastic, or maybe the paints used were awful. My dredd got super sticky with age , his paint just peelled off, and his leg just snapped off out of nowhere his armor pieces also snapped off, madman yellows pretty easily, death just seems to be rotting. And pitt... Pitt, though awesome also has a tendency to get really sticky. we actually got rid of him recently cause he was just deteriorating. And it's not like he was being played with or anything. Not sure what the problem was but it's very unfortunate. I had a to completely refurbish my Dredd. (New paint job, and resculpt of the armor) it's strange cause no other figures I have from that age or even older have done that. And in my hunt for a loose madman in good condition I noticed most are horribly yellowed. It really sucks cause this series had some great figures that I'd love to own again. But yeah cool series with weird issues. Wish it would have continued. Maybe get a the tick figure at some point. Love your channel btw. Been watching your stuff a lot lately. Very interesting.

Hey Scott, I know you no longer work on any DC product, but in your opinion, what would it take for DC to take notice of a company like Jazwares to do 6" figures? I've been looking at their Fortnite figures in the 6" scale and they seem like they'd knock it out of the park with DC. I loved DCUC back in the day and they still look great, but I'd love a 6" line with the same level of articulation as Marvel Legends.
@spectorcreative18724 жыл бұрын
One of the biggest factors that comes down to selecting a toy partner is distribution capabilities. I don't know what Jazwares capabilities are off the top of my head, but I know DC going with Spin Master took a lot of people by surprise, so clearly WB/DC is looking for good partners.

McF is doing great with their DC line. It's quite unfortunate that it's 7", which is why I don't bother collecting it. Only one I have is the Hellbat. @@spectorcreative1872 hasbro is good... but they drop the ball manny times tho. The new built a figure venom toxin.... is garbage :( it don´t even look like toxin. (And i say build a figure because thats what it was at 1st) i do like the eddie brock venom wich is also the venom build a figure mold. Pretty cheap if you ask me. I'd rather invest in neca :/ my opinion

What was the industry reaction to toybiz’s demise and the eventual transfer of the marvel license to hasbro? Were people surprised?
@spectorcreative18724 жыл бұрын
A lot of people in the industry knew that Toy Biz likely was not paying their tooling bills so I don't think it was a huge shock. I don't have proof of it, but I have heard this from many people independently.

Yeah, but those 6" Funko figures were known for bad QC and falling apart very easily. I wouldn't bother if I were you, unless you plan to keep it in box. Just my two cents. Maybe do some research first about the QC.

So it sounds like Toy Biz had pretty much run out of ideas for the Marvel Legends line, outside of 12" dress up Megos and transformer knock-offs, and instead wanted to focus on their Legendary Heroes line that would've drawn a much smaller crowd. I was heartbroken when Hasbro took over the line, because those first few waves were pretty lame, but I'm almost happy now that Toy Biz failed before they could run the line into the ground like that.

I always wanted to collect Marvel Legends but found the Toybiz versions so ugly. The proportions were often off due to the articulation being clumsily designed. Overly gangly arms and legs, long feet, ball shoulders etc. I love the Hasbro line though and have a large collection of those.
@spectorcreative18724 жыл бұрын
While some of the toy Biz figures still appeal to me, I have replaced almost all of them with Hasbro. Especially when you compare height, the Toy Biz figures are almost an inch too small to be 6" figures

Short answer would be we won't get MCU. Marvel Legends line will still have ugly looking figures. Mattel's DC Superheroes line probably will see more improvements with articulation with vocal fans complaining the lower articulation with Toybiz super articulation figures with occasional articulated fingers. We would have gotten the animate Fantastic Four line, more 12" Marvel Icon figures, a few more Marvel Legends variants and an X-men 3 movie toy line. But also with the rumor of Toy biz owing factories money. In the long run maybe they would have been folded. Heck maybe Mattel may have gotten the Marvel License.

All possible outcomes. I like the way you wrapped your mind around this one based on the facts and situations. Nice.

@@spectorcreative1872 I might be wrong on this but from what I heard Marvel sold their toy licenses so they can have the capital to fund Marvel studios and there were a few toy biz figures that were pretty much close to be ready for release that end up being released by Hasbro. looking back at the movie Ghost Rider line It looked like something that Toy Biz would have made instead of Hasbro
