Great pick-up. But what about Hasbro not making Jonah jamerson's assistant ( Robbie Robertson) figure? he's never been made or thought about by nobody which is sad because he was apart of that series.

I also would have preferred the polo. I already made my own version of this outfit. This is how both of them looked in the later part of the series. By the time Smythe mutated, Peter was out of the polo outfit. Hoping for a future release of Polo Peter with Chameleon or maybe Vulture.

Smythe needed an angry headsculpt or a more animated look to it, with yellow eyes ( i mean all yellow with no pupil )

it would have been cool that the rest of the figures had a different number on the boxes so the vhs line would actually count from 1 to 8 instead of 1 & 2 repetitively.

Quite a fun looking set. Looks like this version of Peter has blue eyes. In the comics I think he has brown. Not bad looking figures. The web thwip hands and no web shooters is a weird choice. That's Hasbro for you. Some fists and wall crawling hands would make more sense to me.

I love the fact that this is what got you in and it shows. Excellent take on these and stoked to see your excitement lol. I loved the cartoon as a lad but even then I was born into a comic household haha. So things like hobgoblin coming before GG always bugged me among other things… but still top tier Spider-Man cartoon and this wave does the series decently well. Cheers!

Controversial to say but I REALLY want to get an Animated Hydro Man. That guy is in need of a serious update from the molten man BAF. Give us interchangeable normal and water arms with splash effects for accessories. You can pair him with Polo Peter since they have one thing in common: They both dated Mary Jane and having them together would be hilarious. Having MJ's husband paired with her crazy stalker ex from middle school to fight it out

A pass for me. I actually prefer the jacket look on peter over the polo. Could care less about smythe. I think the recent retro kraven is definitely based on the animated series. It's just missing the leopard briefs. Black cat and shocker could pass as well.

Great review as always. I just got this two pack earlier this weeks and am really happy to finally have an animated Peter Parker. Just waiting on the animated spidey on the RYV body mold since I passed on the Walmart exclusive. I know you don’t like head swaps but I think I speak for a lot of us collectors we really appreciate it as it gives a good perspective on whether or not we get other figures. I have gotten figure just for their head sculpts to use on other figures.

3:01 Looking up images, Smythe was pretty pale in the show. Some of their artwork for this VHS line isn't accurate to the show. 12:45 For instance, the artwork for Green Goblin has a belt that matches the figure's. In TAS his belt had a rounded buckle with no belt loops. Smythe had laser guns on his shoulders in TAS. With a pose taken from his comic artwork, he's drawn with bladed weapons in the package art. 6:16 Something they also got wrong on the figure. Would've been cool to see the laser guns with ports for blast effects.

I feel like Smythe should have been a deluxe figure with his battle chair. It even appeared in the SNES / Sega Genesis game based on the show. Dr. Octopus is easily the best of these, with Mary Jane, surprisingly, in second. Chameleon is my most wanted.

I have all of the animated series figures and I'm happy with them..just need more villains... Chameleon, Punisher, Morbius,Mysterio....and maybe Hydroman ...then I'm hoping to be done but Hasbro is probably going to complete this and the Vhs X-Men wave in 2030 lol

Smythe didn't do this for me, Vulture will be a better choice or Chamelon, RYV is more the animated version than the cell shaded one. I like this Peter figure, but the concept of need to buy Smythe for him, and have to pay extra taxes for this, not good, Hasbro.
