Hasbro has been mixing things up a little bit this year and one of the best things they've done is to give us higher quality figures at a higher price point. Will the quality scale well enough with this grey Iron Man or will the new sales strategy just put more money in share holders' pockets and more figures in the mediocrity bin?

Yo the blast off effect pieces connect to close out the gap. Its like a jigsaw connection. I understand your criticism on it, but if you look at other reviews and connect the pieces together. The legs won't be too far apart.

I think this is the BEST War Machine ever of all time, both figure and design. I also hate the stand because it's too short. Yeah, cool effect but it's waaayyy too short. If they made it as a single piece but bigger and let you put the feet closer, it would be perfect.

Awesome figure. Hopefully they'll do a deluxe version for Spider-Man as well; with the complete 3 pairs of interchangeable hands, 3 heads depicting 3 sets of eyes with different shapes and sizes, a half unmasked head, a Peter Parker head, some web effects, a camera, and a stand. I'd buy that without a doubt.

Has anyone tried modifying Cannonball's lower part as a blast effect for the Ironman figures so that their feet will be closer together? I'd agree with you, Anthony. This War Machine design is my personal favorite and the one from Iron Man 2 is the best movie version of it. I hated how they tried to slim him down in the movies after that. And when they made him bigger again, it was way over-designed.

I've fallen out of liking Marvel Legends, but I had to go in on this guy because he just looked SO good. Glad to hear he lives up to that. And my favorite version of WM is easily the classic version followed up by the IM2 version.

The suit from the Civil War movie. It's not as bulky as the IM 2 version, but it's still got enough of a weighty *clank* when its moving around and a powerful arsenal. Also, the Ultron Drone "kills" painted on the chest plate is an amazing touch

War machine in the movies still gets some cool designs but 1. They stop giving him the minigun which is like his most recognizable design aspect and 2. He doesn't really participate in the main plot much. Like he really couldn't come back to help Tony in Iron man 3? Or fight Thanos in Endagame?

Im with you, pinless joints don't matter much to me, as long as the pins aren't standing out like a stop sign. There are more noticeable parts of articulation, in my opinion. Instead, let's get some ab-crunches that don't give the appearance of a broken back, or pregnancy. Or, how about some ball jointed heads/necks, shallow enough to actually use properly? Then worry about the pins. Sik

Love this War Machine. Definitely my favorite. Those blast off effects come of to me more as him landing or initially flying off so his legs being apart doesn't bother me too much but its such a pain to get him balanced on them and not falling over that I won't ever use them anyways.

5:07 the reason his feet are in the open position is because he's at take off. His feet are in the closed position as he flies most likely because of centrifical force. Realistically speaking iron man would have to use some sort of mini wing on the sides of his boots to increase down force to keep his legs pushing in towards each other while at top speed.

They should have done the feet thrust effect like the old Marvel select or marvel ultimate line ironman where it was just one big piece that both his legs pegged into. Speaking on the hidden pegs I think it's better because you can use him with other lines without it looking like a stand out 20 dollar figure, its also is just way more aesthetically pleasing.

Answer: Mine are actually the reverse of yours, Anthony. My favorite is the MCU Iron Man 2 War Machine and this design in my close second favorite. I am 50/50 on the pearlescent plastic for metallic parts. Sometimes it really works for the aesthetics, sometimes it does look just trashy and cheap. Depends on the character and the design. And sometimes it is a fair replacement for a potentially crappy metallic paint job. But I would agree with you that it is overtime for Hasbro to stop using that so much in their figs. Great review! Once you connect the bottom pieces together it closes the gap a little and it’s something that I’m not going to care much about on my shelf, I don’t think anyone is going to come to my house and be like “oh his legs aren’t as closed together as they should be your display sucks” y’know?

There is a little slit between the blast affects, like a puzzle piece. Put the blast affect together and BOOM, your done.

Favorite War Machine design is from Iron Man 2, then it's this design, and then the one from Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and then the one from Ultimate Avengers 2, and then the version from Iron Man Armored Adventures. So the list goes: 1. Iron Man 2 version 2. Classic version 3. AEMH version 4. UA2 version 5. IMAA version.

This look. I had been avoiding buying War Machines until they came out with this look. I had the OLD Revoltech War Machine which I sold as soon as they revealed this one. Straight from a 90's comic cover. I had a subscription to Iron Man as a kid and used to trace any pages that had a full War Machine.

This is my favorite design for WarMachine, number two would be the 90s Iron Animated Series Design with the light grey. I’m gonna be honest those blast off effects are a good idea but we’re not done correctly. Not only does it make his stands really wide, it also is a weird balancing act to make it look good. When I got him I immediately thought you would be stoked about the double ball peg in the neck. He’s definitely the best Deluxe figure release and besides limits in his abs and ankles he’s my number 1 of legends this year.

I have the 2020 Iron Man but it's still inside the box so I never got to mess with it and hadn't noticed the distance between his legs while on the thruster stand. I also like this figure and agree with most of what you said. Thanks for the review Anthony.

The stands are able to combine the two part if you put them in the right way

Yes they have interlocking pegs shaped like puzzle pieces that let you get them slightly closer together. Still a few degrees too far apart even interlocked, but it's ok. I can balance him on the blasts, but he inevitably falls after a few hours or days, so I don't rely on it. I usually don't port them in, I put him on a stand and have the blasts hovering above the smoke effects. That gives you extra options to position his legs as close as you like and the blasts at multiple angles or in multiple locations.

Not sure if you will see this, but if anyone has thoughts please reply, I don’t collect Marvel Legends but when I saw this I had to get it. I was fan of Ironman and war machine when I was a kid but only bought a few issues. Besides Mandarin and blizzard really don’t know who their common enemies were. So my question is what marvel legends villain should I buy to pose against war machine? Or what villain should I hope they make/commission a custom of?

Your criticism of the jet boost effect is one of those once you see it you can't unsee it moments for me. I wasn't going to use them anyway. That being said I do like the way they did the smoke with the fire effect for those and the drunken missiles. I'm thinking about weathering the black parts of his armor to give it a more "War Machine" look, but im not sure yet.

I've been seriously considering getting this War Machine. Personally, he's not among my favorite Avengers, at all. But I need one anyway, and I've disappointed with the ToyBiz one ever since I bought it. This one is so much better and I will definitely get it

The blast off effects also don’t hold him very well. No matter how I position him, he always ends up falling over. I have to prop him against the wall and at that point why even bother with them

agreed, they do great with silver, glad this came out first, or I would have got the Silver Centurion with plasticky torso if I saw that first...too bad, that Centurion would have been awesome if they gave it a metallic or at least dark shade red.

My favorite War Machine armor would be his MCU Mk4 look. Its bulky, but not too bulky; I hate the Mk6, as it is just looks like a darker Mk2 War Machine, which I don't hate, but I much loved his increasing bulk throughout the series.

Yeah umm the blast off effects for this figure suck it's like impossible to get him standing on them without falling off, today he fell off the rack and onto the floor snapping one of his legs, now I have to buy a new one

This figure is really well done. I was happy to pay $30 for it. I don't like the blast off effects either. I appreciate the attempt, but it could be better. At least they tried adding some smoke color to them rather than just leaving them gummy bear orange. Hasbro can do great things when they have a mind to do it.

While I agree this is their best double ball peg neck to date he still can't tilt up enough for most flight poses. Mafex and the new Hasbro GI Joe figures solve this with a second ball joint at the bottom of the neck, but until the Legends team does that I'd still rather have a hinge. What's the most range up anyone has seen up with a double ball peg alone? Ideally you'd want at least 60 degrees up for flight poses, but 70 or 80 degrees is ideal. This guy can't get much more than 25 to 35 degrees up. You can fudge it slightly by cranking his ab crunch back as far as it will go, but that still doesn't allow for horizontal flight poses on this guy.

How can you say that about MCU War Machine when the Mark 4 from Infinity War exists? That armor alone with the stealth jet geometry more than makes up for the other suits. And the final suit from Endgame would have been top-tier if they had kept it black and grey.

the legs wouldnt be wide no matter what. it would split his legs if there was any force...which there would be if it's able to lift a human in armor.

@@AnthonysCustoms the thrusters are simmering down as he is landing, so we can assume he is able to control it better in contrast to lifting off which requires the start up to be explosive. plus he is in an armour, im pretty sure there are mechanics to prevent him from splitting

Clearly a great figure, too bad mine has a completely locked shoulders slider, super floppy foot joints & one of the foot sockets is too shallow to fit the thruster effect :(

Actually this is my favorite Version of War Machine, then Iron Man 2 version because is kind of the basic design like this one and then they make it like a Iron Man Repainted Armor, I always feel like War Machine is so distinguished from all the Iron Man Armors and the MCU kind of fuck that. it starts slimming with the iron patriot suit in 3 , and is at its tiniest in age of ultron civil war through the first half of endgame appeared like they were trying to bulk it back up , never hit the nail on the head,and then iron patriot at the end of endgame is just massive
