Its rare to see developers that didn't "Babied" their player. Stuff like animation-cancel, unforgiving heroes like Spiderman & Black Panther Heroes like Spiderman usually get "toned down" so everyone can play him, but Spiderman in this game legit plays like an actual Spiderman Thumbs up for the devs for trusting their players.

[Great video!] It's funny how people think that the MCU is this amazing shortcut to success and that's the only reason the game is good; frankly I think it's a bit the opposite. I was into comics etc. in college but the MCU and all of the movies just got really one note and boring, I kind of was really done with everything Marvel / Superhero related because it just felt so... mleh. Then Rivals came out and the art looked so good I had to give it a try, being an old Overwatch refugee that couldn't stand the 2nd cashgrab sequel 'game' they tried to foist onto us. The fact that Rivals is so good and fresh in it's own way is honestly a standout beyond/in spite of the MCU to a burned out ex-fan like me; I couldn't care less about being the Scarlet Witch or Iron Man - maybe if it was 15 years ago I might have, but I think a lot of MCU people are just burned out on it - and this game is doing gangbusters / amazing to play in SPITE of that! That's a real testament to it's actual quality IMO. I know the recognizability helps and it's certainly a door in for many people, but I think it's only a very small portion of the playerbase that's actually like hardcore MCU fans at this point. The rest of us would have enjoyed the game regardless of the IP just because the way the kits and balance isn't made a total snoozefest and you can actually have some player agency. It's certainly cool but not the selling point that it would have been if this game had launched right after the first Avengers movie, or heck even after Endgame (which is where my attention span for the universe really died out, personally). Make a great game with fair monetization and people will flock to it; who knew it could be so simple? Certainly not Blizzard lol.

This goes deeper than the MCU. These are also characters that have only been shown in comics. That being said, yes the marvel ip is a shortcut to success. Taking rivals as an example, the game is basically made for them already. All they have to do is be good at animation. There is 75+ years of marvel lore to draw from, as opposed to a hero shooter like Battleborn that built a whole world from scratch

Marvel Rivals is live service done right. They start the game with the entire set of content, and are generous with what they release overtime. It doesn’t force you to spend money, but makes it appealing for those who want more out of their game. I think this game is gonna stand the test of time.

I love the fact i don't have to buy a bundle to have the most competitive gun like CoD, or 90% of characters are locked at start of game like wwe2k. Every character and ability is unlocked in rivals, so im more compelled to buy a skin because I WANT TO, not because I have to. I don't feel cheated out of my money.

It won't be game of the year, have you not seen twitter or reddit or heck youtube stay 😂people are now figuring out yes it was fun engaging absolutely crazy fun but now seeing how strong truly everyone is that's whats putting people of iron fist scarlet witch hela thor hawkeye bucky venom Jeff luna peni all super super strong and if you leave characters in that state it puts people of like, genuinely storm and blackwidow I've seen people say there so weak but people say there strong but if no character ever gets nerfed or balanced it'll put in a meta, people don't want meta people want fun and I've seen alot of youtubers say that this game will go down hill in the later seasons if no balance comes in and the devs already said they won't nerf anyone just buff buff buff that's gonna cause more backlash than nerfs. Ilove the game I'm having a blast but this game needs balance and it will soon die down in a few seasons if balance doesn't come fast and it's already showing. Imo the game is mid, the ip makes it playable being that its marvel. Levels are mid, game play a lil slow for fast action heroes and you don't feel the thump when you hit someone. If apex legends used marvel skins everyone would be playing apex believe me.
