Not really. Some will, of course. But only those who felt like overwatch was their last option and they didn't want to go to deadlock. People will still play overwatch.

they did for the rivals beta and the numbers showed it. overwatch kills itself practically every other season. the only thing saving them is the 6v6 stuff again, but now some of the community doesn't like it. it's a win for rivals because they will have the marvel crowd coming, the hero shooter fans coming, and people who are tired of overwatch

People leave games all the time but usually come back. Overwatch has enough differences for people to come back to it. Time will tell but overwatch might kick it into high gear since they have competition but I'm interested to see how it goes.

@ I agree but if the devs in marvel rivals do a good job updating the game and bringing good content I see no reason to return to overwatch. Nothing against overwatch 2 but it could have been better. It didn’t feel like a sequel, it felt more worthy to be deemed a dlc.

2 games could exists at the same time but one is already better than the other. Beta was already better than OW and this is coming from a dude who has 2000 hours and always peak at diamond on pc. Yeah I’m 100% sure marvel rivals will succeed on destroying overwatch. I’m rooting for marvel rivals too. Then also hearing that marvel rivals want to add as much characters as they can?! Yeah it’s a wrap for OW.

Oh I'm not denying marvel rivals will absolutely do better than overwatch. It will destroy it in player numbers too. Imo it's more fun too but it is a new game and I've played OW since 2016 so ow is old for me so that my be why I feel that way. I'm definitely leaving overwatch behind for a bit outside of friends and co workers asking me to play. I'm interested to see how overwatch responds to actual competition for once though.

I have no idea why people say it will kill OW. The fan base in OW is too huge and loyal. Also, OW player count is still huge to even call it slightly dead.

I agree that Overwatch won't completely die out, but its player base will likely diminish. The MR beta has already indicated this trend. Despite having ample time to fix and update the game, Overwatch seems limited in what it can do beyond introducing new characters. Unfortunately, it feels like the game has turned into more of a fashion show and cash grab.

The only thing that can kill a game, is the developers. Marvel Rivals presents the first direct competitor to Overwatch, has a dedicated and caring dev team (that plays their own game, and understand it), and know how to balance their own game. All while not having their own company trying to throw a pipe into their wheels while doing so. I see one of two likely possibilities. Overwatch keeps on its current course, and fails. Marvel Rivals finally puts a fire under their ass, and they make the game better. Regardless of which outcome it won't be Marvel Rivals that kills the game, it will be Blizzard, and Team 4.

I think I'd prefer if Marvel Rivals didn't kill Overwatch 2 because god forbid Blizzard would actually try and rope players back in and attempt to make their game good again

its always funny when people call some game other games ''killer'' like who cares ? i stopped playing OW when OW2 came out it has been dead to me for years so marvel rivals will not affect OW2 numbers because i never was there anyways... i m just happy to see something to scratch that itch because i really loved OW original, had 1k+ hours in it. i love that genre and i finally get something for me ! i m also a huge marvel fan, i have subscription on MarvelUnlimited and read comic books all the time and love the look/art style of this game because it has the heroes i like

Marvel rivals won’t ever be competitive. While Overwatch will always be competitive So thank god I will be playing both. Marvel rivals abilities are broken asf. That will get annoying, so I will switch.

Ow will kill itself lmao…r6 and farm simulator is trending more then ow. This game will not flop, this game is going global and is garnering much more hype then any other game has. This game is trending on ps5 before the game even is released. But I agree mr will not kill it but it will make ow wake ups bd actually start doing stuff

as a direct counter to your opening statement give one example of that (two games of the same genre coexisting) happening because usually one one game of each genre can thrive when it comes to multiplayer games unless you're they type of person to consider Apex Legends and Fortnite the same genre which in that case I don't know what to tell you but assuming you're somewhat level headed of a person I'll just say that some game has to dominate in a space no matter what If someone really likes playing marvel rivals they will eventually stop playing overwatch more and more not saying that Marvel rivals will kill overwatch but going off of anecdotal evidence one of the two have to thrive and the other will likely fall as for marvel rivals they have a decent chance of standing the test of time since they already crossed the hurdle of making their characters beloved since everyone already knows and loves their entire roster. Not to mention Marvel Rivals has a lot of overwatch features that players claim they miss which might do something idk just a lil ramble

Overwatch and team fortress 2, call of duty and battlefield, tekken and streetfighter. I accept that overwatch is going to take a hit to it's player numbers but I don't see it dying to Marvel. I think rivals will hopefully motivate overwatch to do better since it'll have real competition for once. Paladins may just die from this though 🤣

ow2 will lose a lot of players to rivals. and the exampels you gave were games that are sucesfull and run good ow is a shit show and folks are tired of it even flats you cant watch a stream or video of him playing without him bitching about the state of ow.
