Fun fact: When Scott first became Ant-Man and landed on top of a parked car... the driver was Garrett Morris- who also played Ant-Man in a Saturday Night Live skit back in 1979.

Hank Pym is actually the original Antman and was actually one of the founding members of The Avengers, Earth's Mightiest Heroes in the comics alongside his wife Janet Van Dyne who The Wasp. Hank was also known as Giant Man and later Goliath. Hank also created Ultron in the comics and among other struggles relating to his relationship with Janet and the fallout of Ultron lead to Hank having a nervous breakdown and becoming the Villain Yellowjacket. Antman was actually announced as one of Marvel's initial films alongside Jon Favreau's Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America. The script was written by Edgar Wright but this dates all the way back to 2003 when Wright became working on the script for this film. The rights of Antman were owned by a different studio (Marvel solid the rights of many of there characters off in the 1990s as money was tight) who did not like what Wright was doing. But after randomly meeting Kevin Feige the now president of Marvel Studios Wright was hired in 2006 to direct and write an Antman film for Phase 1. The film would've featured Hank Pym as Antman in the 1960s a call back to the original comics. This would've been the prologue to the film and we would later jump to modern times where Scott Lang would've came into play where both would team up together and Scott would become the next Antman and would most likely show up in Avengers. This film does feature Cold War footage of Hank as Antman so it's cool that he's been active pre Avengers working for Shield. I personally would've just loved to see a film about a young Hank as Antman but its cool that both versions had the idea of having Hank pre date the Avengers and be active in the 1980s Cold War.

This is actually one of my favorite MCU movies because its so comedic and rewatchable. The Ant Man movies are similar to the GOTG movies in that "family" is the theme. The Ant Man movies are more nuclear grounded family movie fun, obviously the GOTG are more mature space violent comedy family fun as in, your team mates are your ride or die family.

This is a fun movie. After the world-wide stakes of the previous movies, and even venturing into space with The Guardians, this was a nice down to earth movie focused more on comedy, tho the implications of how dangerous the Pym Particles could be was still present. And of course Paul Rudd just nails the role. The whole cast of characters and how they focus on family is endearing.

If there's one thing that I really Admire about these Marvel Movies, it's their ever-widening Variety: not just different types of Heroes, but also different types of Movies too. I'd have never expected this to be a "Comedy Caper," but it's always Fun to re-watch, and the Second is even Better (maybe the Best out of all 3)!!👌 Speaking of "The Best," next up is CIVIL WAR and that Movie is so Damned Good, that it's gonna Blow Y'all Away!👍

This was such a fun movie and I really liked how they ended it. It could have been so easy to set up Lang and Paxton as rivals or just distrusting each other. They even set it up to look like that is where they were going, Scott is a crook, his wife divorces him while he is in prison and marries a cop. Instead they ended up being cool with each other and becoming a larger family. This is so rare in cinema probably because it is rare IRL.

Great reaction! I've been meaning to say, I appreciate the editing and the length of your reaction. It really allows you to fit in a lot from the movie. Some cool tid bits, the original director was post to be Edgar Wright but unfortunately he and Marvel Studios had some "creative differences" during pre-production and decided to go separate ways. The slightly sad thing was Edgar Wright had actually tried to get Ant-Man made for years (even before Marvel Studios was originally around) because he was a huge fan of the character. He originally made some test footage that was "leaked" to internet to see gauge how much fans wanted to see a movie. He had the original idea for a Heist film, but I think he wanted to make it all a single film, nothing really connected with the MCU. But by the time the interest came around, the MCU was pretty popular and had to also fit in extra narratives for the MCU. And I think I already mentioned it, but in the original comics, Hank Pym actually created Ultron.

Note: this movie made a very nice twist when they had Darren create the Yellowjacket suit. In the 70's, the Yellowjacket was created when Hank developed a split personality. He locked the Hank/Ant-Man side in his brain, became an Avenger, and saved Janet from the Circus of Crime. He snapped back to Hank and became his Goliath identity. Loved the reaction.

According to director Peyton Reed, we were going for a powerful, humorous tone because it's a heist movie. Hank Pym debuted in Tales to Astonish #27(January 1962). His first appearance as Ant-Man was in Tales to Astonish #35 (September 1962). Created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, and Jack Kirby. Janet van Dyne, aka The Wasp, first appearance was in Tales to Astonish #44 (June 1963). Created by Stan Lee, Ernie Hart, and Jack Kirby. Sam Wilson, aka The Falcon, debuted in Captain America #117 (September 1969) and was the first Black American superhero in mainstream comic books. Created by Stan Lee and Gene Colan. Scott Lang's first appearance was in The Avengers #181 (March 1979). His first appearance as Ant-Man was in Marvel Premiere #47 (April 1979). Created by David Michelinie Bob Layton and John Byrne.

The SSR took Dr. Zola in after the war and when the SSR changed into SHIELD, Zola began growing Hydra within it. SHIELD ended in Winter Soldier. The Avengers defeated Hydra in Age of Ultron but there are still remnants of them around the world. The Avengers is fine. Nobody infiltrated them

Since 1987, I've been a fan of Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man, Janet van Dyne, aka The Wasp. Since 1993, I've been a fan of Scott Lang, the second Ant-Man. I was five years old in 1989. I’m gonna miss you, too, Peachy. Man, you guys got the weirdest goodbye rituals. Baskin Robins always finds out. Wait I didn’t steal anything! I was returning something I stole! Look, man, I got a master’s in electrical engineering, all right? I’m gonna be fine. I’m gonna call him Antony. Scott, I need you to be the Ant-Man. One question… Is it too late to change the name? Hi, I’m Scott. I thought Daddy didn’t get scared! My days of breaking into places and stealing sh!t are over! What do you need me to do? I want you to break into a place and steal some sh!t. Makes sense. You think you can stop the future? You’re just a thief! No, I’m the Ant-Man!… I know, it wasn’t my idea. No. Do not whistle. No whistling. It is not The Andy Griffith Show. No whistling. Okay. I just have one question… Who are you, who is she, what the h@ll is going on here, and can I go back to jail now?

The Hulk's girldfriend Betty you were speaking of "from Lord of the Rings" would be Liv Tyler, daughter of Steven Tyler, lead singer of Aerosmith. One thing they do with Ant Man that always bugs me is they play so loose with the rules they establish. If they maintained mass when shrunk, the water wouldn't have thrown him from the tub, but if they didn't maintain mass when shrunk he wouldn't break the tile when he landed on it, once I noticed that for the first time, I couldn't unsee it, and if affected the rest of the movie for me. The timeline? Scott was in prison for 3 years which gets us at least back to 2012/2013 so somewhere between the invasion of New York (Avengers) and Thor: The Dark World. What Darren was talking about infiltrating an Avengers Facility was Scott stealing the device from upstate New York in the past week or so.

Just came across your channel recently, and you guys are likable 😊 Remember not to listen to anyone hating or trolling. Nobody who is happy with themselves acts that way. Ive seen some ugly comments you’ve gotten. I hope it never gets to you. That, and you can’t please everyone. Some will say you talk too much, some will say it’s not enough. I say just do what feels natural. And I’m glad you mentioned us being jealous because we can’t watch for the first time again, because it’s so true. I grew up loving comics and as a kid in the 80’s and 90’s, it seemed like we would never get a truly amazing version of our favorite comics because the technology just wasn’t there to bring them to life the way they deserved. But then Blade came out around ‘98 or ‘99, and it looked really cool. Then we got X Men and Spider Man, and it blew our minds. Then, Iron Man hit, and it was on a whole new level. The casting, the writing, the effects, it was all next level. As the next films like Hulk and Captain America hit theaters, and we learned they were about to make several more films, millions of grown up comic fans, movie fans, and action fans all had happy heart attacks as the new characters and new films were revealed. The way the films intertwine, the way the vast majority of them are extremely good, the emotional roller coaster of seeing your favorite characters and even specific storylines you read about as a kid in your bed in your room a dozen years ago, it was a magic feeling. The fact that it took place over several years, and many of us went from kids or high schoolers or single young bachelors or bachelorettes, to college grads or new parents blows my mind to think about. We all watched our heroes arrive onscreen together, and we all aged together. Some of us got gray hair and bad backs as these films unfolded. We went to the theater and laughed and cried together. The feeling of seeing these films opening weekend was electric. Like watching a film you immediately loved, with 100 of your closest friends. It was just magical. Just my two cents!

Bald = Bad Guy in film.. It’s in tv and movies, comics, etc.. Maybe it’s something about age being the archetypal villain for all of us, but in reality being bald is just a type of person you can be born as, with no baring on if you’re good or bad.. 1 of 4 men worldwide goes bald. Fun fact: We go bald because of too much testosterone, DHT in particular, it also makes your beard hair grow thicker, so the most masculine dudes are bald with big beards..

Great reaction! This is my favorite of the MCU movies because it reminds me of the comics of the 70s and 80s that I grew up with, where the stories were local instead of worldwide/interstellar and the heroes(?) were playing for big stakes in their lives and not trying to save the world. Scott's just a dad whose Robin Hood moment was a right thing done but that took him down a bad path. All he wants is to get what he has missed for three years: time with his daughter. That's big stakes for a good dad for damn sure, and it is very relatable and understandable a motivation. Few of us understand what it is like to be a billionaire genius philanthropist playboy or a man who underwent a crazy experiment to become a super soldier and then spent decades frozen in the ice. Heroes like Scott and Sam (Falcon) are much more relatable as people because most of us know people like them or have been people like them. The movie also uses Paul Rudd to his best as far as a humorous hero too. He's another everyman who is just trying to figure out what he can, is trying to make the best of everything else, and makes the decisions that seem right to him even if they may be bad for him personally, just like the unnamed guy who refused to launch Project Insight and was aboard the helicarrier in the Ultron movie. And what confuses him or he's uncertain about he jokes about. Perfect and priceless. I liked the secondary characters too, because they were so well done. From the three wombats (Luis was the best though Kurt and his fear of gypsies was hilarious too) to Maggie, Scott's ex wife, and Paxton, her new fiance. Maggie didn't tear down Scott to Cassie when she had the chance, and even Paxton and Scott became more like brothers at the end. I loved seeing a split family becoming a whole family instead of being bickering and backbiting as we see all too often in entertainment and, worse, in real life. The Hank and Hope dynamic was a great one, and all these actors did an excellent job making us believe that they were real with real depth too. The script was so well done, and I am waiting anxiously for you all to see the movie the second end credit scene was about. 😀
@TheOctobersReact

yeah i like the family dynamic you mentioned bc i think it got over looked some by the action but extremely important to mention!
@thatpatrickguy3446
@thatpatrickguy3446 Жыл бұрын
@@TheOctobersReact 100% on the family dynamic. These pre-Disney scripts were so well done and had such depth of story to them, like a lot of my favorite comics. They had a lot of stuff that went blooey and kapow, which is what we expect from comic book movies, but there were good messages underneath for the thinking person to notice and appreciate, like how both Paxton and Scott could love Cassie and be and do the best for her because she is what mattered to them both. Well, Paxton obviously loves Maggie too, but that message of grown ups (including an immature/occasionally confused one like Scott) can work together for the good of the child even if they aren't always fond of each other is important. At least to me. 🙂

Another rather unique film and character for Marvel to introduce. Like the guardians, he’s one of the more relatable superhero’s because his powers are all in the suit, but he’s still got skills outside of that. His background as a burglar makes this job perfect for him. Paul Rudd is known for a lot of comedies so it makes sense why he was chosen for this role, he can be funny while also bringing a touch of realism and the right amount of drama. Not the best movie in this whole series but it’s one of the most rewatchable films because it’s easy to follow along without having to know too much about what came before. This movie had some of the coolest fight scenes. Before I watched this movie I was unfamiliar with Ant-man and I wasn’t sure the action would live up to the previous films, but I was wrong. I enjoyed the constant pov shots, the size difference when he first goes small, and I think my personal favorite has to be the toy train battle. The choice to switch from Scott and Darren’s perspective to Cassie’s perspective was genius. It was cool to see just how insignificant the fights looked to a full sized person vs the Ant-men. The last post credit scene got me excited for Civil War. It’s not supposed to make sense just yet, you’ll get all those answers eventually. you guys are going to love it. It’s hard to explain just how much fun that’s going to be unless you watch it, I can’t wait. It’s also a very significant turning point in the tone of movies from that point on and the events will effect everything. I’m excited to see if your opinions and feelings change about certain characters. Civil War, if I had to give you an idea of what to expect, is going to dive a little more into the political atmosphere of the MCU in its current state, and I think the movie as a whole will leave you both with things to think about and I’m interested to hear what you guys think after.

In the comic's you would have reasons why other heroes wasn't helping, say Spider-Man is fighting one of his villians in Time Square on the 1st page of the comic it would say this story is taking place during Fanstatic Four issue numbers 100 or Avenger's issue 300 where they would be battling there villians or they would be somewhere else in the world or off world. Even if the FF or Avenger's comic was released 2/ 3 months ago or even longer.

"Life is like a box of chocolates...you never know what you're gonna get". - Forest Gump. 😅 "Baskin Robbins don't play". - Dave Jennifer Connelly played Elizabeth "Betty" Ross in the first Hulk Movie. Liv Tyler in the second. 😊 Bald headed villains ... it's Lex Luthor envy...lol Garrett Morris the actor who Scott landed on top of the car...played Ant-Man in a Saturday Night Live Skit making fun of the Avengers. John Belushi played the Hulk....lol 😅 They are not robotic ants...they are natural ants. Hank can control them with a device in his ear that utilizes the ant's olfactory senses to communicate with them. 😊 Hank can no longer wear the Ant-Man suit because of the stresses on his physiology from constantly shrinking and growing which has now affected him on a cellular level. 😢
