Honestly me too, and I bought avengers at launch. They've improved alot since the beginning but it's still overall trash. This on the other hand looks good. From the "ultimate" cutscenes when you gather the group together to the story. They took their time and learned from the avengers' mistake

The key is that this whole game was built around Peter Quill. They focused on how he fights and moves while playing leader to his teammates. Avengers made the mistake of making all the heroes play way too similar. The likes of Black Widow and Hawkeye should *never* be presented fighting on par with Thor or Hulk. That and the overall story and villains just plain sucked. I will never forgot my feelings of "Seriously?!" on one level where Monica is preaching about how awesome her replicants are... while Natasha is killing them by the dozen with regular ass bullets and the occasional are kick! Seriously! That was their endgame? Fucking robots that were as flimsy as the next human?! Yes! I'm still pissed and still want an apology!

The game has been a big success so a sequel is obviously going to be greenlit. My guess is they will go for an origin story where the final boss is Thanos or they might go for a sequel story where they meet Peter Quill's fucked up father similar to the second Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

You got a Soldier, a rogue, a tank, an engineer, and an atronach. You have the perfect adventuring party. If you don't constantly introduce new party members and keep the story and mechanics concentrated on just them, you will have the perfect space adventuring open world game. Also, I am reading Jack Kirby comics now. You can use many of his unique vision and his specific style of Cosmic Horror to create interesting stories. So, you can make it like a "Jack Kirby Game" with GOTG characters rather than a GOTG game that has to follow comics or continue parallel to MCU. I can already imagine the sequel

This was a rather good story, except for one thing. Quill was a huge part of the story, Gamora was extremely prominent, Drax had his family around, but where's the love for Rocket and Groot? They had a smidge of backstory at the beginning, but that didn't play any part in anything. I really want to see them have a game of their own at some point. I mean, they don't even have a fully-fledged MCU backstory! The comics will always be better.

I mean, you can only do so much, the game was quite long and that's with focus on 2 of the guardians + Gamora's prominence. They would've had to make the game much longer to shine a plot light on Rocket and Groot as well (unless they cut the other segments shorter but I think this would be a mistake). I think focusing and dedicating a whole segment of the game on Drax was a good decision, since that part of him was somewhat lacking in the movies, the game fleshed him out really well and made me appreciate him as a character much more than the movie did. And the prominence on Gamora was also good. I don't think they ignored/neglected Rocket and Groot at all, they simply weren't put as one of the primary focuses of the plot, but I still remember them quite prominently in the game, especially Rocket (can't help it with Groot since his primary line of dialogue are 3 words). Rocket may not have had a super role plot wise, but his dialogue was very prominent and memorable during gameplay. I think there's an opportunity to delve deeper into these two if they decide to make a sequel. EDIT: Also, I'm gonna assume that you played the game and not just watch this cutscenes edit because if I'm not mistaken it cuts out a lot of the gameplay, which might have cut out a lot of the dialogue that happens during it.
