Franklin is no match for the Phoenix. Please remember that the nexus of all realities resides in the heart of the Phoenix so it is the ultimate reality warper. Franklin is just a mutant, arguably the most powerful mutant but still a mutant nevertheless that exists in the universe which means Franklin exists within a reality. The Phoenix exiusts outside time and space. The Phoenix can erase the entire Omniverse and recreates it because it is Life and Death itself, and as stated on the video above is Creation itself. In short, Phoenix controls all realities that exist. Even if Franklin bends reality, the Phoenix can undo it because again, the nexus of all realities resides in the heart of the Phoenix.

The writer truly is going out of her way to fix decades of terrible editorial decisions against Jean. I love to see that. Hopefully this will set the basis for a proper development for the character in the MCU. I enjoyed Famke's Jean, but the idea that she has no die to pay for her power is really tired at this point. And Sophie Turner was just the wrong casting choice, IMO. Can't wait to see what's next for Phoenix in the big screen. In my opinion, Saoirse Ronan would be a fantastic Jean Grey.

Phoenix clearly displays cosmic awareness and thus showing right off the back, she is not to be trifled with let alone turning someone into a whole star council: "meh we can take her. Mortals have been defying, defeating and killing cosmic entities for almost the entire run of Marvel comics. I stopped collecting comics when a few things became obvious: 1. There is no continuity, it just gets thrown out completely based on what the writer wants to do. I really hate that. 2. It's just endless power creep. Look at how your favorite superhero is now the strongest hero! At least until next month, then it'll be someone else's. 3. Every character goes through the same few "character arcs", forever. I guess the comics are basically just rehashed for each generation. The more you know about the history of what has happened, the more you're just like "oh...again?".

Jean is basically becoming the embodiment of the white hot room which is the 'core of creation'. The white hot room is a place of imagination and pure creativity. It decides what gets made and what doesn't. Jean/Phoenix are basically the ink/pen and the white hot room the white pages. Every ink drop becomes part of Eternity/Infinity. Jean/Phoenix is thus FAR beyond Eternity/infinity and even Multi-Eternity.

Gladiator’s, vitriol and self righteous attitude as it pertains to Phoenix cracks me up, considering the Shiar literally wiped out Jean’s entire bloodline in the fear of one of her family members, possibly becoming a future host for the Phoenix force. He’s asking if turning Gorr into a star is the punishment that they would’ve given him meanwhile, the Shiar punished Jean’s entire family with little to no question or second thought. As much as I have been enjoying this run sans the not great traced artwork (thankfully Miracolo is now gone), but I’m ready for us to wrap up the Jean versus Thanos storyline and get into Jean layinh waste to the Shiar for decimating her bloodline.

What I really liked about this comic, as far as I am able to see, is that they addressed the Phoenix as part of the Cosmic Hierarchy. Before, it was always excluded, but it was obviously a high ranking cosmic entity. It was always omitted, and its ranking and relation with the others was always a mystery until now.

It makes perfect sense to me. I've been thinking about this ever since Al Ewing's Defenders Beyond when the Beyonder says that he's weaker than the Phoenix, especially in the White Hot Room. It's very simple to me. the Phoenix Force represents all life, the Beyonders are alive, why, because of the Phoenix Force. The Phoenix Force gives life, it can take it away too. Jean is now a being of creation itself.

I really like this development of Jean Grey/Phoenix. The Phoenix Force is a multiversal aspect of Creation. I think that potentially makes her more powerful than Franklin Richards. Franklin can manipulate reality but the Phoenix is a fundamental part of the entire multiverse.

I don't think the idea of Thor being the Phoenix' son will ever be revisited TBH. It was just the writer's attempt to give Thor Jean's power/lore, and Marvel seems to be going into the opposite direction with this book. Jean was once nerfed and killed, because of Thor, to make sure she wouldn't outshine the male heroes in the Marvel roster. I don't think they will legitimately link the Phoenix with Thor, to that degree. If anything, they're trying to permanently merge Jean Grey/Phoenix as the same concept. And I doubt they're gonna make her Thor's mom, lol.

Call me old school, but I prefer the non anthropomorphized cosmic entities. It doesn't make sense like a universal constant like Eternity would just be some regular, super-hero type singular person, with a personality, agenda and very-human like. Something like eternity should be infinite and a force, not some whimsical personality that's concerned with singular persons in a universe of trillions of trillions of people and trillions of stars. Having them super-hero type characters as well gets into the silly really quick with very strong super-heroes like Apocalypse being about to beat them in fights, that shouldn't even be possible in comic-book logic.

​@@DezzyyyI don't remember a story where the living tribunal was used as something else but a huge plug for plot holes, do you? The cosmic entities are in shambles at the moment, they are over worked to my opinion, to many are popping out every other story, it's losing it's impact, especially as the cosmic entities are being written like they are superheroes with values, morales, talking like they are humans, it just shows bad writing to me. In the past, when a cosmic entity was in a story I would get excited about how things will go down, now it's just another week at Marvel, thats not a good feeling, but I guess it's just a personal opinion.

@@arc7375 That's true and sorta exactly what I'm saying. Like Eternity for example is the personification of eternity. To eternity the concept, nothing Phoenix or any other creature would do would have any relevance, eternity would always continue towards the infinite regardless of anything, even the universe ending, and the concept of eternity taking a single body form is entirely antithetical to what eternity is. When Eternity takes a body than it is no longer the concept of eternity. It doesn't make any sense, comic-book logic or otherwise. A cosmic entity should just be nebulous, unknowable galactic constant, energy or force, completely not interested or even capable of interacting with a personal singular level. I can understand the Living Tribunal and some others being characters that interact, but cosmic entities like Eternity, the In-Betweener, Infinity, Oblivion etc should not be characters that interact (at least in super-hero type body form).

And hopefully, they won’t drop the ball a third time… Regarding your question as to what role Phoenix plays in the Pantheon, I have an answer pending my own question. Is there the entity “Life?” I know there’s Death. But to my knowledge, I can’t remember if there’s a Life? If not, given that Phoenix is said to be Creation itself in this comic, I’d say that Phoenix’s role has been established as _Creation/Life_ - the antithesis of Lady Death.
