One of the least comic-book loyal in some ways but the most dedicated to his character. Not always a comforting man and this show gets a lot wrong but it FEELS like the character; Frank is a family man who never spent time with his family. We see that in his earliest Daredevil appearances: he tells Matt about turning down his daughter's request to read her a story. Even mentions she was too old for it but she wanted that connection again and he turned it down not knowing it was his last chance to do so. I think that regret helped shape behavior like this; he truly knows how precious that young innocence is and we see him defend it time and again with a fierce determination. Whether in wholesome moments like this where he pulls the perfect dad moves to appeal to the kid, or when he brutally assaults and/or murders men who take advantage of young children.

One thing I always appreciated about this show is any time Frank interacts with kids like Rex. He's a good guy with them and they immediately warm up to him. It shows that beneath that hard, psychotic exterior, he was at one time a father. And from the way they portray him here, he was a GOOD father. That's not something they show often (or at all?) in the comics.

There once was a man called Sonny Liston. He was the heavy weight champion at one point and he was the most feared man on the planet. People were more afraid of him than Mike Tyson just for some perspective. Well, he was a real butthole to he press and men he didn’t know. Strangers he would beat up with his fists if he could. But not children or the elderly. One of his close friends would recite multiple times on how gentle and charismatic Liston was with old people and children. He didn’t view them as a threat so he was warm to them. Same with Frank. He likes kids. He likes to talk with them because that’s just who he is. I don’t really think the death of his son really plays a role in that tbh. I think he’s just being him tbh

That's thing about how Frank Castle is written. He's damn right an anti hero at heart in the comic's. Even when he was with his family, he wasn't really there and rather be out their shooting in military. So when his family did die, that was the excuse he needed to feel at home. Whiles he did love them the best he could, deep down he wasn't good enough to be that family man he tried to be. In-fact, in a one off comic of him killing to all the marvel hero's and villains, its likely that Frank could of really been a villain at heart giving if the heroes and villains had a part in play with his family dying. All he needed was an excuse to do what he actual love. This is something I would commend the Netflix show, displaying a bit of humanity in Frank castle. Even if the show isn't as accurate to who Frank Castle should be, because I don't think its possible to even display Frank's real, brutal characteristic on screen with how much people will be against it, it doesn't take away the fact these scene's are good enough to show Frank was indeed a good family man at the end of the day, and he still is.

For everybody saying that Beth's story-line went nowhere, you missed the point. The whole point of Beth's character was to show the audience that even if he tried to find another lover after his wife died, it would be too dangerous due to the kind of life frank lives. This is why we don't see her again because Frank gave it a chance and it ended up with her being shot and nearly killed, that's why he left.

One of the greatest aspects of Bernthal's Frank is the way he confronts the paternal aspects of his character. Awkward and internally painful, but deeply sincere. It's one aspect of his interpretation that imho succeeds far better than either Jane or Stevenson. It's the part of the story that makes Frank all the more terrifying as well. That internal hell, the thought of what might have been... it makes his rage more human.

@kingofthering33434 жыл бұрын
Castle has had several love interests throughout the comics. But the reason why this happens in the show is to show the audience that, no matter how hard he tries, Frank just can't have this kind of life, which is why he fully embraces his identity as the Punisher at the end of the season. A whole season with an emotionless robot who lived underground and just came out to kill criminals would have boring as fuck.
