The diversity of playstyles and the skill it takes to play and win with each of the 4 gods of MVC2 is what makes MVC2 so great. It doesnt matter if everyone plays 4 characters if everyones cable or magneto is different from the next. I Would rather see people master 4 sandbox characters than people scrambling with 30 low-mid tiers who have crappy options.

Justin actually mentioned in his twitter, that back in the day people would start walking out of grand finals and during the regular tournament bc of how commonly the same characters were picked and the people playing them.

I got all excited when I saw a character (Venom) outside of the top tier whores then I realized it was a button check...

That plus there's a glitch in the game where if you hold one of the assist buttons you'll start with that character instead of your first one. After you do that if you hold an attack button during the "Ready? Begin!" part, that attack will come out frame 1.

Not as cheaply. They may be able to air-dash across the screen, but not there and back twice, like Sent pretty much can in this game. That, and they're offensive options aren't anything like Sentinel's were in the air. If he wasn't abusing the priority of his air overheads in his overly long flight mode he was locking them in infinites on the ground

Players can't be blamed for wanting to take advantage of the superior characters in a competitive environment; that's all on the developer. Balancing characters is hard, increasingly so as the roster size increases, but often times there just isn't enough time and money to sit around tweaking all the character's subtleties.

What should happen is that they should make Marvel vs. Capcom 2.5. A game that combines everything that made Marvel 2 as godlike as it is with a couple of the things that made marvel 3 good. And they could call it Marvel vs. Capcom 2.5 Gods without x-factor.
