Nah bro. You ain't crazy. If I am not mistaken (from what I remember when I owned these versions); the Saturn Version of X-men Vs Street Fighter is based on one of the early arcade roms; where it was a bit broken and you can juggle like a fiend (almost infinite). That alone makes it fun as heck (though EVO definitely won't be using a busted version of the game for competition). Marvel Vs Street Fighter has the hidden Japanese Comedian character on the Saturn version; which will be removed. Marvel Vs Capcom on the Dreamcast has that exclusive 4 player feature where 4 people can control the tag team partner and when you do that cross up super (not the double team super) you can literally have 4 human players control each character at the same time. Not very practical as it is chaos; but really fun! Regarding the Switch version (and the other ports) they did add the ability to play as all the boss characters and hidden characters, by simply turning on an ex option. For X-Men and Marvel Superheroes; this is a big deal as not many versions allowed for this to be possible or at least very easily (outside the D-listed PS3 and Xbox 360 release of Marvel SuperHeroes, but never X-men). On the Switch; with the right adapter (the Gbros. 8bitdo dongle, and perhaps another Wii dongle) you can literally use ANY controller from just about any console in history. I am able to wirelessly use an actual original super famicom controller, sega genesis controller, retrobit sega saturn controlllers and any Xbox, 360, PS3, 4 joystick on the Switch. It isn't that difficult or expensive to find these adapters and they are pretty cheap, so that's an option if you want; but your plan seem cool too. Really awesome you kept the Sega System ports. Their artwork, physical cases (especially the Saturn ones) are top notch.

I've owned MVC2 2 separate times in my life. Once in 2008, from EB games. 87 dollars back then, used. And once again factory sealed. For 295 dollars at that time. Then a tweaker took that copy. Now I'm waiting on the collection

@@VirtualFootballer I own these on the Saturn since they got released long time ago if you paid a scalper hundreds of dollars for these that’s a waste of money why pay $100 -$200-$300 for these when these got released they were under hundred dollars they were new you needed the 4mb cartridge to run the game but not being able to read the game was the issue so when I bought the marvel Vs capcom arcade 1 up it wasn’t for marvel Vs capcom or X-men children of the atom or marvel super heroes it was for just 2 games X-men Vs street fighter and marvel super heroes Vs street fighter cause they sucked on PSX I still have them their costing over hundred dollars on ebay

These games were FIRST released in Japan on home console. As I recall, at least a whole 8-12 months earlier than the U.S. releases. Video gaming was not how it was today. back then, If you were a fan of these games, and you had the funds, you went out and purchased the Japanese system, or adapted your U.S. system to play Japanese games. only the old school players who rocked these games in their prime would understand that. You 2008/ 2009 SF players dont know about that.💯

@@Backtothehatdude chill these games were a rip off in the west every country that every country had to buy them in Japanese just to play the arcade version the PS1 was pure trash the Sega Saturn was the only way to get them but don’t think for a second you can just insert the game in the Saturn 🪐 the game runs you needed the 4mB ran cartridge to play the game you don’t need the Japanese sega Saturn console you just needed the ST Key cartridge and then swipe it to the 4mb right away the sega Saturn was only good for fighting games the PS1 was a trash console is all it was the Nintendo 64 happens to be the king console of all being ignored as it doesn’t exist why put these fighting games on Nintendo it’s a child’s console

Ngl the whole reason I was going to get a Sega Saturn was to play the old vs games as close to arcade perfect as I could without doing ROMs. Now that the collection is coming I just saved myself $1000 lol. I really hope we see more of these arcade classic collections coming out. A lot of them I still play, but it would be nice to have a single system to play them on. I'm probably going to get it on Steam and PS4. A physical copy is a must because we don't know how long they will have this agreement

I think there's no reason to play the OG games anymore with this collection also considering how expensive they are physically. I am going to buy the collection at least on steam and ps4 but I will also buy it physically. one of my most wanted games in a very long time.

I grew up with these games and I remember I used to watch X-Men and Spider-Man on TV when I was a little kid on Fox kids and obviously I play most of those Capcom games growing up like Mega Man and Street Fighter and then I see them together and these games I'll be like holy s*** and plus I get introduced to other games out of her play before like Captain Commando Strider Darkstalkers Etc I ❤ this game also this game was my introduction to Thanos and blackheart like armor for Blackheart on Marvel Ultimate Alliance Thanos because of the movies

Just...wait. All of us are safely assuming that the MvC collection will be arcade perfect or superior to any port versions to date. U just never know, the collection version just might be slightly inferior to those older ports..that would most definitely suck if that happened however. I have all of those as well (including RAM cart) but i have the PS2 and domestic DC version of MvC2. And besides, the import version of MSH vs SF has Norimaro...so that version of the game will be ultra rare. Its already been stated that he is gonna be removed from the collection. Most people could care less about that but if u are truly a collector, then keeping that game should matter to u. After the collection releases, and we can confirm that the games are the most arcade accurate ports to date then consider selling...or not. Unless u really need the money, i say keep em.

Old tech is just too much compromises and work to get them up and running.....Best to play these on PC with mame emulator. Atleast you'll play the exact arcade rom like the arcade cabinet. Yes, you'll lose the ability to go in a training mode, but, I'm old school born in the 80's. No training mode on the streets of China Town Fair! I just rely on my legacy skills.

Sir, You are not crazy! Huge Sega Fan and SS/DC Collector as well!! Very much excited with the news of the Capcom Fighting Collection coming and have already pre-ordered both copies for Switch & PS4! Glad that more generations of gamers young, mid, & elder age groups will finally get their hands on these classic titles. Still, I started my SS collection back in 08 with US/Importing all the Capcom/Marvel titles with 4 Meg Ram cart in mind. Dude as a purest to an extent, I'm still keeping all my copies for reference and playing, and I recommend you do the same, seriously. Street Fighter Alpha/Zero 3 with Ram-Cart for the SS is still the Best Version to date, even better than the Dreamcast version, due to the "one vs two different opponents' option" in no other home port release!! True, these may go down in value? Yet, I would just keep them on stand-by/keepers for more years to come for gameplay and not necessarily for just any bragging-rights. Again, CD-Rom Disc + manuals prints will be treasured-classics, period!

Showing off the Japanese version means you never had these games to begin with you weren’t able to read the games to which is why you should of bought the marvel Vs capcom arcade 1 up as soon it got released that’s the whole purpose of arcade 1 up is buying games that failed on consoles you bought the Sega Saturn version but the Japanese cause it failed on the PS1 and cause there was no American version to why I bought the arcade 1 up

Hold onto those games, get acrylic collector cases for them and display them, they’re too rare and expensive. The fighting collection is basically the definitive version of all these games, so I have no doubt these will be amazing on Steam, Switch, and PSN, all online and conveniently playable whichever one you want to dive into.

You’re hardcore bro 😎 regarding sf2, I’ve owned every console port and whilst the Dreamcast Japanese version is very accurate it doesn’t support rgb, only s-video and the resolution is slightly wrong (chars are fractionally too thin). I have the cps2 board but my fav console version is hyper street fighter 2 on ps2. It’s annoying that it has no save functionality so I have to set my buttons every time, but it’s prob the best way to play. Funnily enough I was literally about to pull the trigger on the arcade1up cab and was researching mods when the marvel collection suddenly got announced. Thank god for being indecisive!!

If the games on modern consoles are ported the right way like this time I would retire those old editions. The BIG reason is because the collection has better version of the games, the direct arcade version without any compromises that Capcom did back then, just like you said.

I have the Saturn imports of the the first crossover games as well as the US Dreamcast versions of MvC 1 and 2. I've had them since the late 90s (year 2000 in the case of MvC2) There is no way I will be getting rid of them. But I do plan to get this collection on both Switch and PS4.

Capcom vs snk 2 is my absolute favourite, but marvel vs capcom 1 on dreamcast was amazing and my personal very close second, one other thing to take into account is that in this new collection we will likely get both the Japanese arcade addition and the US arcade version which is also a great addition the Ai is different across versions, street fighter 35th anniversary was like this as was the first capcom fighting collection with warzard and nightstalkers, great games

I'll still play at least my copy of MvC 1 on Dreamcast with friends (to play four player mode) I also own all these games every version of them on console (unfortunately including the PlayStation ones lol). But when I play on Sega Saturn and on Dreamcast I use my modern arcade stick because I have PS2 controller converters and Brook PS2 to PS4/PS3 converter which allows me to play with PS4 controllers and modern arcade sticks on all my retro systems that I have a PlayStation controller converter for.

@@radelta the PS2 to PS3/PS4 converter is minimum I can't tell the difference between using them are my Sega Saturn or Sega Dreamcast or PS2 arcade sticks that I still have when it comes to delay (in fact the response time is better than my Saturn joystick although that might be due to button quality

Not saw the video to answer without spoiller: No!! Reason: The MvC Fighting Collection are the barebone/vanilla Arcade experience, and lacks all the additional content from the console version, including extra colors, modes and others. Just keep both.

But I can add a comment over the video's content: The collection will be very accessible for a new public indeed (it could be perfect if Xbox could be included into the party, but that's the consequences of Xbox's current guidelines of releasing games on that platform: Make the Xbox One games must be optimized to run better on Xbox Seriex X|S, and Capcom don't have support for its own MT Framework engine for the Xbox Series X|S and also PS5). But for those who already have the games presented in the video, you can always revisit the games to use the features from that versions. For example, the Cross-Fever mode on Marvel VS Capcom for Dreamcast allows 4-players simultaniouly, and this mode is exclusive for this version, and it's 99,9% possible this mode will not be featured in this collection. And if it follow the first Capcom Fighting Collection, it will even lack a propper local VS Mode as well. So, again, based only by the video's title alone, I reiterate that I said in my first comment based, with it being my true fellings about the matter.

The imports of XMen vs SF and Marvel Super Heroes Vs Street Fighter are VASTLY superior to the US Playstation Version. Also these two games weren't released US side for the Saturn. I sold My Marvel Vs Capcom 2 Dreamcast Copy a while back.
