It is the XBOX customer who decided to go all in with Gamepass. I get that it offers a great deal but these publishers see their sales numbers falling. Phil with all these new acquisitions is probably being less generous with the Gamepass deals than in the past and these publishers are saying screw it we'll walk. People have to be willing to buy games that are not on Gamepass and stop threaten publishers / devs that they will not buy a game, to put it on Game pass.

If a game releases on XBOX and does not sell the devs have the option to recoup some (maybe all?) of the port expenses with a belated Gamepass deal. The all in Gamepass gamer recognize the aforementioned fact and have basically taken the stance of "I'll wait." They do not realize as a la carte sales fall 3rd party publishers are going to lose the desire to port games to XBOX unless they can secure a bonkers Gamepass deal up front or the game is too big not to sell enough to justify port expenses like Resident Evil franchise offerings.

Bought MvsC2 for the 360 digitally and when I got an XB1 it didn't transfer over. Microsoft claimed that they didn't have the license for it and my other digitally purchased games. Think I'm getting a PlayStation. I'm done with Microsoft.

This comment is ridiculous. I have MVC2 that I bought on PS3. Guess what.... it didn't transfer to PS4. Microsoft were under the thumb of publishers and licensing laws. In fact, NONE of PS3 purchases transferred forward to PS4. Hundreds of my 360 titles did though. Get a PC if you want preservation.

Facts lol, well only for the Wii til I finally got a PS3 in 2010 and I could finally try games I missed like Soul Calibur 4 instead of playing that trash Soul Calibur Legends game. Yeah, it was physically available at the time on the original Xbox and digitally available on Xbox Live Arcade for the Xbox 360 while at the time Sony had it on PS2 and PSN had it for the PS3.

If I had to guess I think if it's not on gamepass it won't sell enough for Capcom and uncle Phil didn't want to spend that money. If enough people complain it'll probably come out later down the line, if not it'll go the way to the Battle Network collection. Console wars aside I recommend people to buy a physical copy. The reason this release is a big deal is because it was release back in the ps3/360 era digitally only and when the license expired it was delisted. I waited till I got a good discount and forgot about it, I'm not making the same mistake again.

This is more of a Microsoft thing than Capcom thing. It's a combination of low sales and the Older MT framework Engin. I reckon it could come to Xbox later down the line Xbox probably want to Optimise it for Series X/S and not put it on Last Gen Xbox. SONY seems to have no issues with that as the PS4 version can be played on PS5. But that is still a head scratcher.

Im thinking maybe Xbox wanted it to be put on game pass or something when that barely makes any money for devs, or to do with the fact that while Sony is fine having games only release for PS4 because of the backwards compatibility, xbox has had a push to make new games have to have a specific seriesX/S version and not an Xbox One version. Itll still probably come out eventually, its just Microsoft has made Xbox harder to work with than Playstation is right now, so ittle take some time vefore its announced for xbox, if not be revealed as a game pass game a while after everyone else had played the game.

@arkitekmrj To be honest with you I gave up on Xbox since Xbox One because of the lack of any good games (mainly some ip's like Banjo Kazooie and Conquer) because most of them are canceled and ScaleBound was one of em which is the final straw and don't get me started with the Hi-Fi Rush layout and studios that made it get shut down even after it sold very well. Good thing I sticked with PS5 and Switch.

There’s also a report making the rounds that a framework capcom uses makes titles more expensive and challenging to port from a technical standpoint. A few other collections skipped Xbox as well for that reason. GamePass is to blame as well, Microsoft wants revenue from that service which stunts game sales going to publishers.

MT framework is how Xbox backwards compatibility games run on series X. The upside is that people with the Xbox one AND the series and can games that use this, but you have to configure the game for the framework in the first place. Notice that on Playstation, it's actually releasing ONLY on PS4, but that's fine because PS5 is backwards compatible with PS4, so to the customer, it makes no real difference.

Well notice the collection is not on any next generation console it's all on last gen except for Xbox one. That's probably why it's not on the Xbox series x and s plus Xbox is the worst to play fighting games on. Otherwise they wouldn't use a PlayStation for tournaments. Xbox Series consoles isn't getting a native port for the same reason the PS5 won't be getting it...neither have native support for games made with MT framework...and they probably figured it isn't worth the extra cost to figure it out.

My sneaking suspician is that it has to do with marvel. Not even just spiderman, but i heard something about since insomniac is doing wolverine and planning a whole x-men game down the line that apparently xbox isnt allowed to have games with those characters or something until a certain year. I dont remember the exact terms of it or anything. But absolutely ridiculous that this isnt coming to xbox. And i see the "nobody buys games on xbox because of game pass" as purely speculation. I still buy games all the time and this was gonna be a day 1 pre order for me. Being so marvel starved over on xbox plenty of other people would happily go ahead and buy it too just to get more marvel. Plus the extreme nostalgic popularity of something like marvel vs capcom 2 which is pretty much gonna single handedly sell this everywhere else. I hope the backlash gets big enough and they realise how many people on xbox really wanted this and would have forked over the money.

Blame Gamepass, they try to buy out developers but when they don't pay up third party devs go back to skipping Xbox. It was the only way they could get Kingdom Hearts series, Final Fantasy(7-12)series, Persona series and Yakuza series on Xbox which was to make Gamepass deals with the publishers. Persona 3 Reload and Metaphor are recent examples.

My man, I’m a big Xbox fan and as a person that plays Xbox for the most part I own every other console out there. It’s OK to buy more than one console just to get your favorite games. Brings the best out of each company to bring out competitive games and choice. If every console had every single game, no matter what you had then there will be no point and even having Xbox the Nintendo or Sony just one single platform.

I would assume because most consumers on Xbox wait for certain games to be on game pass. I have all consoles but I’m mostly on Xbox so I can play certain games with my brothers. Game pass is great to hop on certain games online but I always hear people on Xbox say the same thing, “is it on game pass?” I still buy certain games on Xbox but it makes sense in a business view for marvel vs capcom not to be on Xbox.

Hello on the real solution if xbox series x support roms then it should be on xbox because Nintendo switch and Playstation 4 have it plus Playstation 5 support 2,000 backwards compatibility with switch might be hard because this is button smashing. What I think the reason it's not on xbox because it can be only support emulator of retropie and 360 game or your getting all emulator of all games in emulator version and 360 version.
