I am Cuban born. Our world-wide famous beans are Cuban black beans. They are creamy, silky black, and not watery. Unlike Mexican black beans, Cuban black beans have no cheese and no cilantro. We only use olive oil, not vegetable oil. We make our beans from dried beans, not canned. We are having these tonight. They freeze quite well.

Due to life-long digestive issues I eat a minimum of 1 Tbs. of beans/day w/a bit of extra virgin olive oil & salt. Occasionally I cook up several different types of beans and freeze them in individual freezer bags, thus I can use any amount desired over the next 3-4 months. Easy & effective. Here in the PNW we grow Rockwell beans, a dry bean that was developed in Western WA. But they will grow most places and are wonderful! You can mail order the seed; but grocery stores don't carry them because they are an heirloom. They are easy to harvest, create wonderful community when we gather to thresh them, and will store well. I highly recommend them! Oh, yes! And they are delicious, too!

Not even touched the lintels. Show me what you got😊 I am sure I forgot beans dishes that I make.I add beans to many dishes to boost the protein. My absolute favorite bean dish is what we ate as children and that was pinto beans over a slice of buttered bread, makes my family sick but it tastes so good to me. Many times that was all we had to eat for several weeks, my children never had that and do not know what it means to go hungry and be grateful for what ever is placed before you. You will not go hungry with beans and a little rice or grain as a combination makes a perfect protein. Beans alone will not sustain you but adding a grain with it will give you all 9 amino acids required.
