I think the point of the story is that Guts *could* use the behelit, in a move that would mirror Griffith, but decides he won't. It seems like the arc he's going on is about learning to value the relationships that he's made rather than a suicide mission. It's possible that he will use it, but I think that choice would lead to a lot of unsatisfying endings that betray what has been established. Or, worse, some sort of awful asspull where he overcomes the power of the behelit with a deus ex machina.

@@SenseiSifuMaster To be honest, i don't think the Behelith's power comes with control by the godhand necessarily. I feel that's something the godhand made up or is assumed by the apostels. After all emperor Ganishka did not meet any consequences for rebelling against the hawk - so the godhand clearly has no control over him. My guess is, there are mechanics and interconnections between the shadow realm and the real world and the godhand understands some of them and use thast knowledge for their benefit - but they do not control it. And Guts' case is special since he's a a sacrifice for Griffith already

Here…I’ll give you the ending I think: *I think the author didn’t want an ending, I think he wanted us to know that bad shit happens and we have no control over it, we get out of bad shit and good things happen but it’s just luck; when chance meets opportunity.* There is no such thing as fate. Void believes there is but there isn’t. The Idea of Evil was created by all mankind. So….if the idea of evil was created by all mankind, if mankind were wiped from the earth then the Idea of evil would be destroyed. Griffith, finding this out in chapter 83 is the reason the Author deleted that chapter later. It gives away the ending. Griffith wants to bring everyone on earth to one point on earth and then sacrifice them all. If he can sacrifice them all then there would be no power for the Idea of evil. No power for the idea of evil means no power for the Godhand. No power no existence. No existence no evil. The exception would be Griffith and Casca. Griffith wants to start over. Guts will eventually figure out Griffith’s plot but will disagree because Guts believes in true justice which means actions must be justified or there must be punishment. Griffith believes in the same end result regardless of how it is obtained. If guts is allowed to use his Behelit, he would sacrifice Griffith along with the Godhand, making him the only Godhand member and therefore possibly capable of destroying the Idea of evil himself. This may either destroy him in the end or if he can kill the idea of evil it may destroy evil altogether and rescue everyone. Maybe even return the Godhand back to their mortal form. Remember most if not all Godhand were good people. Why? Because in order to become a Godhand you had to sacrifice more than an apostle and it had to be something close to you and more than normal. So the people you sacrifice had to be good in your eyes. Godhands sacrificed many people meaning they believed in good.

@@h7vq123 it’s also possible that because puck stated his body can be filled with the soul of another, that Guts and SK use the full moon, when the Moonlight boy takes over his own body, and defeat the apostles, cut down the World Spirit tree (Trapping Griffith in the Astral realm where he goes when the moonlight boy takes over) then allow the moonlight boy’s soul to enter puck. That would save the boy, destroy the evil version of midland. Griffith would maybe enter the Boys old body and then SK along with Guts could finally kill him. Just an idea. Or, the same thing happens but instead, puck allows Griffith to enter his body and since Puck has the ability to pull a person’s soul away from the evil of their heart, puck cures Griffith. Who knows.

Some things come to mind regarding the Behelith. He cannot sacrifice Casca as she is already branded. I also don't think he could sacrifice his other comrades as they are not the most important thing to him. That only leaves the Moonlight boy and Griffith himself ( Griffith being the sole reason he went on for so many years even if it was out of hate). Really, I don't think he would use it as it pretty much goes against everything he stands for now, also, even if he was to in a fit of desperation and him giving up to the Beast, Casca would never forgive him for attempting to do it, and it would tip the story for a really grim ending, for even if my theory is correct and Griffith is a suitable sacrifice, and Guts was able to figure this out, it would turn Guts into a Godhand member or apostle, and he would not be able to stay with his family( which I don't think Berserk is going for, solely because I don't want to believe Miura was that predictable). I think that, if the Behelit comes into play in the ending, it would be used as means for tracking and a boost for Guts to be able to use the Behelit sword after the Skull knight passes that to him or he manages to make himself with the sword somehow.

I’ve read parts and pieces of Berserk but it’s been so long and newer parts I’ve not touched. I’d not known or remembered that the balut may not belong to whoever possesses at any given time and that it will “find” its owner when the time is right. A perfect ending arc I think would put it in Casca’s hands right after or during the final showdown Guts and Griffin. But when she unlocked its power instead of becoming a demon or Godhand she’d instead become an Angel or God of light 😮. They’d have some deep half book explanation of why she’s different and instead transcends to Godhood to be able to fight and vanquish Griffin and the rest thus saving humanity from all magical forces for good. But she does have to make one sacrifice, Guts. And it’s that she can never be with him. Guts has to force her to make the choice, one last kiss and Guts is transformed into a white shining paladin who cuts down Griffin with Casca as his energy source.

What if he destroys the behelit and leans into the edge of sanity with the berserker armour? Seems like the only way to become equal with the god hand is to reject it's currency and challenge it with power derived outside of it. His rage will end up killing him in tragically, but he will also dismantle the godhand, leaving the world isolated from the magic realm. Seems like the trope here, but this is why berserk is so good, because there are so many unique spins and yet it still works. It's like listening to mozart but its all shifted to flat keys. What we need is a writer/animator who can close off the loop in an innovative way while preserving the unexpected escalation that makes berserk so amazing.

From what I know this is unlikely, guts always knew that there's a super natural things around him but he never took advantage of it instead he trained hard to reach his full potential. When Skull Knight tried to use the Sword of Actuation against Femto and failed, I sort of thought that was the end of hope; if SK with the SoA couldn't harm the Godhand, what could? So I like the idea that Guts will eventually use the SoA in a manner that the Godhand isn't prepared for. That could be a way for the Godhand to take serious damage.

When the Slug Count tries to sacrifice Guts in Guardian Angels of Desire The Godhand turn him down becuase Guts soul was already claimed for the sacrifice which caused the advent of Femto. People always get this part wrong. They just cuase hes already sacrificed during the eclipse that it also means he cant use an behilt himself. It never says he cant, and Slan even tells him to do it as shes beating him while in the form of the troll guts. If you recall "bechy" as its referred to face even rearranged as if it were about to activate. So with that said i dont think hell use it i think Casca will.

I just want to point out, that Griffith activating the Behelit and summon the god hand and Griffith agrees to the terms and sacrifice the band of hawks happens on two different points of time. So it is possible to summon the god hand, without sacrificing and becoming an apostel. Don't know if this is significant, but I find it interesting and I always wonderd, what happens in such a case 🤔

Chapter 202 (or 201) is where Shreik breaks the fourth wall and says the whole adventure is just a figment of the imagination. Nothing really exists unless it’s in the mind first. Zodd, Black Dog Knights, St Albion, anything that a character mentions before Guts sees it isn’t real.

Why would Guts use the Behelit? He hates demons and to use the Behelit means he'd become an Apostle only to serve the Godhand... this would not put him on even footing with Griffith/Femto, quite the contrary-it'd mean Griffith would "own" him again... also, who would he sacrifice? Casca? his current comrades? doing that would make him no different than Griffith-it would make his entire arc completely pointless and hypocritical... I can't see this being his next move but... stranger things may happen

Just to list a couple: To summon an audience with the god hand, or to create skull knight's sword. so we know it can be used for other reasons, guts can use it without becoming an apostle, we just have to think how.

The thing closest to him was Griffith. Therefore, if his behelit is used. He will sacrifice Griffith. Think about it; the whole story of berserk is summarized in Griffith's own monologue when Guts overhears him about what a true friend really is. A true friend to Griffith is someone with "his own dream" and someone willing to "fight even him over this dream". Griffith also had to sacrifice whoever was closest to him. But he didn't manage to get Guts or Casca killed. Could this be what leads to his demise. Whst happens when someome branded to be sacrificed gets summoned by the God Hand to ascend ? Wouldn't this break causality? If Guts is acting outside of causality he might be able to bend the rules of the behelit and abuse it. If the Idea of Evil is a good manifested from mankind, then what would it take for mankind to birth the idea of good? I legitimatly believe Guts will birth the idea of good and sacrifice Griffith, breaking causality and hushering in a new age of prosperity for mankind. Bit of a schizo rant but I feel like Miura would want something akin to this.

I feel that the story of guts is the story of a man who struggles. The eclipse and then the berserker armor is doing to guts what torture did to Griffith. Stripping him of both his vitality and his humanity. Guts, however, will ultimately reject the Behelit. Griffith was a man who had everything come to him naturally. When he was stripped of everything, he surrendered to dispair. Guts on the otherhand didn’t have any of the natural talents of Griffith. He wasn't charismatic, he had inferior combat skills, and didn’t even know his purpose. Guts built himself up. He became a swordsman that could fight on par with demons. He through struggling became someone the rest of the band of the hawk looked up to. Guts isn't a man to let dispair take him. Guts will ultimately be at a low point on par with Griffith. Remember, the berserker armor whittled down the skull knight to what he is now. It will do the same to Guts, but when he reaches rock bottom, Guts will choose to struggle. The Skull Knight has been telegraphing this from the eclipse onward.

What I enjoy most about Guts is he is clearly not a hero. He has morals but is indifferent to what goes on in the world and isn't out to necessarily trying to go out of his way to save people but just survive and take his anger and frustration out on the Godhand who afflicted him with the brand and slo to get revenge for his comrades who were betrayed by Griffith. The idea of him using the behelith is not possible because he will become like Griffin who ran away from his humanity to become a demon.

Yes, without question. The Berserker armor is killing Guts. He can barely beat Grunbeld. Guts has been carrying the same Behelit since the Eclipse for a reason. The only alternative is witchcraft. Griffith/Femto immediately went after Flora and obliterated Elfhelm because he is afraid of them.

i think guts its just the carrier for the future user. probably someone close to him. Prob Rickert. Behelits react in the lowest of states of human beings, when they have endured everything and more... Rickert is the sole surviror of the og band of the falcon. He got all his family killed by the one man he admired the most. that would take your soul to the ground. Still, he was strong enough to keep on going, just to see how every other side of his life keeps on crumbling down while he has to remain strong. Point is he is still a young boy, with a soft spot for his hero which he now resents... something will happen that will end up finally breaking him to the point of his behelit awakening. So there you will have the last thread of goodness in this story corrupted by evil. everything must be stained

What if Guts isn't the one to use it but someone else marred by despair? Someone like Casca? She can't even look at Guts without her mind breaking and she is currently trapped with Griffith. Being vulnerable and desperate seem like key conditions to activate the Behelith. Guts carrying it means it should reach Casca eventually.

Calling it, Guts stops wearing the armor and his intense training of keeping the beast and armor at bay have granted him the ability to summon some astral armor or something wacky. He’s been resisting the armor for a while and hasn’t had very many slip ups. I think that’ll act as some form of on the job training for his “magic”

I don't think the armor is talking to Guts. I think that is the worst part of him, the dark part, which is talking to him. It is trying to take ahold and rise to the surface; like what happened to Griffith. The behelit is activated when the temptation of the darkest part is at a all-time high. It does not mean they have to fall prey to their darkest desires, they can still reject the godhand's offer. The armor just makes Guts go insanely powerful, while trying to destroy his body and mind. If he has a strong enough will, he can overcome the armor and godhand's offer mentally. I am thinking the behelit will activate, but Guts will deny the Godhand's offer and this will be the final episodes, in which the godhand dies. Guts will most likley die as well, but will do it defeating the godhand once and for all. Then the Moon Child will become something more and better, in which will help mankind.

I don't read the manga, I saw the original anime years ago and I get most new information from videos like this. I also know that a behelit isn't a genie in a lamp. When it's used the god hand appear and make an offer. Now I'm going to contradict all of that and say, what if Guts used the behelit not to make himself stronger but make Griffith weaker. Bring him down to the power of a regular apostle. The only way this could happen is if Guts put all his skill points into wisdom and charisma and did some really impressive word play. If it did happen Slan, and maybe another godhand, would have to speak up on Guts' behalf. Not a chance of it happening but it was the first thing I thought of.

With it she would sacrifice her former friends. Guts broken and betrayed would have nothing to hold on to, plenty enough reason to go Berserk.

interesting theory but that kind of betrayal after everything he has gone through would just be the final nail in the coffin. look at him now, broken after losing Casca a 2nd time and on the verge of letting the darkness in him win. should Casca betray him and switch sides chances are he would just end himself or be completely broken to the point that hes nothing but an empty husk. Guts is not a complex individual, he's straight forward ever since the beginning and the toll its taking on him is showing more and more since he is already on the precipice of giving up just from Casca being taken. I think that he'll find a way to not only resist the behelit but to use it for his own strength, Casca will most likely die or become a hindrance due to her attachment to the unholy abomination that is no Griffiths physical form in the mortal world instead of his femto body in the astral world. as for the berserk armor, Gut's will probably hit rock bottom and out of sheer rage and stubbornness find a way to force it to submit to his will or just rip it off and build his own strength back up somehow, possibly be healed back to atleast fighting peak post missing arm and eye etc. via some new character.

Here's what I want: Guts submits to behilit sacrifices his friend and finally/ irreversibly goes BERSERK and gains enough power to slaughter the god hand. We then get pages of some of the sickets fights we've ever seen culminating with the showdown between berserk apostle guts and Griffith. After the fight on of guts friends manages to survive the sacrifice and has their own brand, and now has to put the black dog down forever. The end.

I don't know where you heard that the banded can't use a behelit, but from my memory, I do not recall that being mentioned in the Black Swordsman arc. Also, Slan even told Guts to use the behelit and make a sacrifice.
