Papaw sent me those video about 6 months ago. He passed decemeber 2022. I played maggot brain for him on his death bed, stopped it, and said "hey papaw, we gonna listen to maggot brain? Might as well listen to it live!"amd I scrolled through out old text to when he sent me this video. Got a maggot brain tattoo 5 days ago. Jamming and crying to this every day since. I miss my best friend. Keep on rockin✌️ come on, maggot brain... go on, maggot brain...

I don't play guitar, but I feel like this song is (or should be) every guitar player's unicorn; their "Eleanor". And it feels that way because every version of this song I've seen, the person playing shows that heightened spirit. You can literally see their soul on display. McCready had to be hospitalized after playing it. EG's soul is on display here. Bravo, man. Chills.

This is the absolute best performance I have seen so far of Eric Gales. He has an amazing amount of talent and usually he plays way too much jazz fusion and complex chord progressions for my taste when playing classics like this but here he just simply played the dog shit out of this song without any theatrics. You could feel every note from his soul. Outstanding!

I first experienced Maggot Brain in 1976, at a live stadium show, with Eddie and Mike (Maggot and Kid) sharing the spectacle. So a mighty first impression. Since then, I’ve seen and heard (and listened for) the covers, the ‘revisits’, and the tributes. This is a tribute performance. Quite astonishing in the way it sticks to the audible emotional truth of the original, which requires a lot from any band, when the basic song structure is a simple 4 chord turnaround. My hat is well and truly off. Bravo.
