I never thought about Noah's age being taken from the bible, I accepted it only because it's 'mentioned' in the Qur'an. Only today I checked for it and in Genesis 28-29: "28. And Noah lived after the flood three hundred and fifty years. 29. So all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years; and he died." Alhamdulillah, for such a simple explanation.

"And when they embark upon `the sincere supplication` [ful-k] they `supplicate` [duaa'] , `sincerely` [muhlīs] submitting to him the establish order" there should be more in this word than just supplication , these distant words conflates with each other in meaning. but i think i remember that you put words in Quotation marks as a way to say that "this is under construction" or "there should be further research into this word". salamun 3alaykum.

Salaamun Alaykum. Alhamdulillah. Yes, another landmark segment although it is only an introductory to the story about Nüh (Noah) that I confidently know will set the stage for upcoming segments about Nuh. This segment provides the "reset button" to eradicate our existing understanding about the story of Nuh and make way for a better and insightful understanding based on the evidences provided by the Qur'an alone. Brief takeaways: We do not want to fall prey to sunk cost biases and continue with the knowledge of biblical Islam. Otherwise, with an incorrect understanding we may be thinking of building a ship ("Full-K") to save us but instead we create a "sea of confusion" that even "Safinah" (the Ark of Covenant) cannot save us. We also do not want to be part or categorised as "As-Sana". We want to be productive and therefore we need to empty our cup to gain exclusive knowledge from the Qur'an exclusively and learn the truth about Qu'ranic Islam and ascribe to Allahh his due reverence, so that the "Ardh" (when engaged) will produce continuous growth when it rains again and again! I consider QS Aal-Imran (3:81 & 3:82) as "Ummul Kitaab" for us to understand the transition from the system of Torah to the Qur'an and about the "Khatamun Nabiyyeen" (expiration of the institution of prophet-hood), plus the roles of our beloved SAWS as the final Nabiyy to Bani Issraa'il and a Rassool for us (the followers of the Qur'an). Age of Nuh is not the key factor nor saving the animals in a ship. QS Al-Ankaboot (29:14) is about saving the believers and about defiants to be punished by angels. Last but not least, "Al-Full-k" (sincere supplications and way of 'connecting' to Allahh SWT) we now should learn about "Syukoor" (the proper way or best way of communicating with Allah according to the Qur'an). Hamdulillah and thanks for a pleasant segment. The ''sea of confusion'' is felt unfortunately with the state of the Muslim Ummah. It's an amazing way for the Qur'an to filter out those who are not tentative to the true meaning of these Ayats. Anyway, when a story filled with irrationalities it's obviously biblical; it's amusing to see these ''debates'' on YT channels between the flood/young earthers and atheists squabbling over nothing.

Jazakallah Khairen. Thank you Dr Atchan for your enlightening coverage which are particularly useful especially when discussing the etymology of Arabic words. I've noticed your coverage in this episode of Nuh (ASWS) was void of a few related ayat that may be seen as directly contesting the narrative put forward for a lack of a physical ship or boat or even a calamity such as a flood. Surah Hud (11) ayat 25 to 48 which are the earliest mention of Nuh (AS) and the commandment of the building of the 'ship' (ٱلْفُلْكَ) under divine supervision while being mocked by the chiefdoms. Later (each pair) embarking the ship in the name of Allah (SWT) as well as it setting sail with even other sailing citations such as anchorage as well as tides / waves, etc. Surah Al-Furqan (25) ayat 37 clearly talk about a drowning mentioning Nuh (AS). Surah Ya-Sin (36) verses 41 to 44 seem to be a reference to the same story - if not then please help to clarify it. Surah As-Saffat (37) verses 75 to 79 explicitly indicate a calamity which are quiet clearly in reference to Nuh (AS) where he and his descendents were the sole survivors. What's more surah Al-Qamar (54) ayat 9 to 15 which are in direct relation to Nuh (AS) were completely absent from this episode. Discarding the aforementioned Surahs and addressing Al-Mu'minun (23) that was briefly covered, I am personally finding challenging to accept your interpretation. In the earlier 22nd ayat it mentions being carried upon cattle and Al-fulk(i/a) (ٱلْفُلْكِ) so are we then to accept that this too is a supplication and not literally being carried upon ships just like upon cattle? If both Surah (Hud & Al-Mu'minun) relate to Al-fulki (ٱلْفُلْكِ) as a supplication that Nuh (AS) created it would have rationally been a lot less physically toilsome or observable than creating an actual vessel with great chance for the dismissal of that by those chiefs who'd possibly never seen such a ship nor could they relate to such new / imaginary design that he was pursuing (thus the mockery) along with his grave warnings that they had already dismissed anyway.

Here's a perfect example of erroneous assumptions. If you give these ayat to someone who has never heard about Nuh and his ship, these ayat would never result in the traditional story of Nuh. Just as we have presented alternate explanations for the ayat that we covered, alternate explanations apply to your ayat. Regardless, you say, the traditional story is correct. Good for you. Live with myths and fables. Just don't blame the Quran.

Salaamun Alaykum, This segment is small but very heavy on the truth of how we were in the dark all these years, believing lies all lies spread by the enemies of Islam. They Inserted their lies in the translation and interpretation of the Quran. And we never bothered to question ourselves and, on the other hand, thought significantly about ourselves and that we were the best and most intelligent people in the world because Allahh chose us and gave us the Quran. Still, we never thought we were the dumb and silly ones, and upsetting Allahh by putting full of lies and bringing all manufactured dumb stories, corrupt stories, from the corrupters and blaming that it was from Allahh. Our so-called scholars lecture extensively on fake and corrupt baseless stories about Nuh. People made movies based on these crooked stories and showed them to our kids to learn Islam. What pity! That’s why there is nothing good coming out of these corrupt stories. No one knows any good; instead, whoever masters those crooked stories learns they do more significant crimes and become more corrupt in their undertaking because what we learn we sometimes show openly and sometimes deceitfully. All the translation authors and Tafseer just copied entirely from Sahih International, they just wanted their names on the books or fame in this world, or that was their source of income to write and sell their corrupt books. Salaamun alaykum. Thank you so much, Dr. Hany, for starting the story of Nūh. In-shaa-Allah when we understand his legacy, we will be able to understand the later ambiyas' legacies as well. So, humanity learned to devise supplication from Al-Full-K, then from the Torah and then from the Quran. How wonderful! Once in my adult life I dreamed and visualized that we have to board a floating boat to carry us through the sea of life. The imagery was so vivid that when you mentioned the ark is the floating ship that carries you through the sea of confusion, it touched my heart, because that was the feeling I felt vividly in my personal awakening. In my dream, Islam was that floating boat. And through this lesson, it has become more clear that the ark of the covenant has been transferred to the Quran now. How relieving! Salaam on top of salaam. Understanding the Quran properly brings so much peace, away from the sea of confusion. Thank you, Dr. Hany, you are a blessing from Allah to us, mankind.

Salamun Alaykum. I noticed that the story of Nuh and Musa mentioning about drowning (not literally). Their location seemed to be similar too. A couple years back i was trying to find the meaning of ٱلتَّنُّورُ and ٱلْجُودِىِّ ۖin the story of Nuh. I noticed that the traditionalist commentators did not know the true meaning of it and came up with all kind of guesses to fit the biblical story.
