Colour out of space is a huge favorite of mine but I wish you had included THE VOID. Another ultra creepy cosmic horror film that is worthy of this list

Fifth element was and always will be my favorite movie of all time. As much as I wish they made a sequel at this point, it's far too late. Having that masterpiece is enough.

Fun fact about The Thing is that the exterior scenes shot at the destroyed Norwegian base were filmed at outpost 31 post explosion at the end.

In the mouth of madness is not by H.P. Lovecraft. It’s inspired by Lovecraft, and the title (in the mouth of madness), is derived from the story by Lovecraft, called (at the mountains of madness)… From Beyond and the Void should be on the list.

Solid vid. Nice Coverage. The Cenobites are extremely Cosmic Horror. At least before The Scarlet Gospels where they screwed the pooch and went in a Dante's Inferno direction. Leviathan ( The Cenobite God) is very like H.P. Lovecraft's 5:44 Azazthoth. Leviathan is a giant nuclear reactor which powers all sentient life in the universe. Since all Life is Pain and experienced pain. It is the energy which recharges it. That power is recalled and recycled via The Configuration Box which acts as a Power Connector between realms seeking out souls which have generated so much discontent, sensation and ennui that they are ready to be Harvested by The Cenobites which are Leviathans Servitors and Maintenance Crew. Then there is The Engineer who oversees their endeavours . That raw pain is so raw that they can sustain Leviathan and repower him keeping him in Statis making the contunusruin of all creation possible. If Leviathan should run out of pain then all things would end. Think Monsters Inc.but rather getring scares from kids it's the Rending of Exteme Human Suffering as a Power Source. Those who manage to retain enough of them selves when they are harvested for Leviathan try to break out back to the land of the living they are changed by their time in Hell and have lost any trace of their previous humanity no matter how they remote. If this was to happen regularly then it would be the end of Leviathan and All Existence.

Are you Clive Barker? Holy Lament Configuration! What you wrote was the best description of the original Leviathan, Cenobites, and the orderly workings of Hell I’ve ever read. Is that Clive Barker’s explanation or yours? If it is your own interpretation of Leviathan, you need to write more, and I mean a lot more, because that explanation of Hell was sublime. I cannot speak ill of The Scarlet Gospel, because it is Clive’s vision, and I really liked the novel. I would rather hear stories from your perception of hell, because it is far more interesting than where the story officially ended.

All great films. We need a new phase of H.P.L. films, especially now that we have such effective skills. We need At the Mountains of Madness and Call of Cthulhu. Now is the time!

Hellboy is not scary, it's a buddy-cop movie with a romantic triangle and a heartwarming redemption story.

I think a common misconception about Lovecraft is that he only wrote cosmic/eldritch horror. Several entries on this list are gothic and other kinds of horror. Like Castle Freak. Absolutely not eldritch horror. Otherwise, fun list!

A list like this without The Void or From Beyond is just pointless. Also Forbidden Planet is a stretch. The Krell are an extinct alien race and the id monster is created by Morbius via their technology. Nothing eldritch about it.

Hmmm The basic theme of Lovecraft stories, as I see it, involves aliens and how humans respond to them. All of the beings in Lovecraft's stories are actually aliens who may live on other wworlds or between dimensions. They are not divine beings but do possess powers etc. that humans don't. How humans respond to them, by thinking they're divine, makes up a lot of the stories. A good example of this is his story At the Mountains of Madness where a group of people find a variety of Lovecraftian beings and see, first hand, how they interact with each other.
