What a terrible price Alex Murphy had to pay for his honesty as a cop. A gang of criminals brutally murdered him. On the verge of death, Murphy was reborn or rather rebuilt, partly as man, partly as a machine, and thus emerged the RoboCop. Directed by Paul Verhoeven, the film ''RoboCop'' has successfully maintained its reputation since its release in 1987. Though some people objected to the extreme level of violence, granting it an "X'' rating, the film can be classified as a brilliant, thoughtful film. Apart from its innovative sci-fi content, the Director displays playful, sarcastic hints, just as seen in movies like ''Total Recall'' or ''Starship Troopers''. With a splendid form of storytelling, RoboCop rightly deserves the love it has got for the last 34 years. ''RoboCop'' stars Peter Weller, Nancy Allen, Dan O Herlihy, Ronny Cox and others.
Three years later, “RoboCop2” was released as a sequel, which was quite entertaining but couldn't reach up to the splendor of its classic prequel. Directed by Irvin Kershner, the film saw the return of Peter Weller as RoboCop, Nancy Allen as Lewis, and Dan O Herlihy as the Old Man. It mainly highlights the conflict between RoboCop and the rising drug lord called Cain.
“RoboCop 3” was released in 1993 by Orion Pictures, directed by Fred Dekker, the film's co-writer. The other writer was comic book legend, Frank Miller. The most disappointing fact about this film is, Robert John Burke replaced Peter Weller due to conflict with his schedule. Moreover, his partner Nancy Allen was also killed in the movie. Unlike the ''X'' and ''R'' ratings of the prequels, this film grabbed an MPAA rating of PG -13.
Classic ''RoboCop'' finally got its remake in 2014, directed by Jose Padilha. The film targeted the kids instead of adults like ''RoboCop 3'' in 1993, but it turned out to be a better film. Nonetheless, the first two ''RoboCop'' movies remain beyond comparison. Let us now explore the stories one by one, chronologically.

One touch I rather enjoyed in the remake was the idea of keeping his human right hand so he could shake hands with people, and they'd feel flesh and consider the cyborg supercop robot somehow more normal. When I first saw the flesh hand, I thought it was a stupid decision, but seeing how it was used within the story, I appreciated it a whole lot more. Also how he deliberately used his robot hand to shake hands with Mattox, who hated adding 'organics' to the purity of his robots, with the visor raising (to show that Mattox was no threat) with a "nice to meet you, too". It was nearly a blink and you miss it moment, but such a statement about both characters, why things were set the way they were, and so much about the story to come. The flesh hand was still kinda creepy, though.

The story in the original was more interesting. It was a reference to the Six Million Dollar Man who was almost entirely cybernetic except for his left arm. In the original RoboCop he also had his left arm but the executive of the project saw this and was annoyed and told the engineers to “lose the arm”.

Everyone has a movie they watched as a kid which messed them up a bit. I was around 11/12 when I saw Robocop after school at a friend's house after lifting it from his Dad's video collection. (Also watched American Werewolf in London which terrified me but not quite on the same level as RoboCop) I'd never seen anything like it and images of Murphy getting blown to pieces, ED209 and the toxic waste scene stayed with me for years. I was never allowed to go to Andrew's for tea again. Years later this is legit one of my favourite movies. Still stands up today. Practical effects much stronger that modern CGI

The first Robocop was an excellent movie that dealt with some deep concepts. The first Robocop was basically a re-imagining of the resurrection of Jesus Christ for 1980's America. If you look for it, there were scenes that showed Robocop walking on water, so there was that, the whole resurrection thing, and a couple of other similarities in the first Robocop movie to the story about Jesus Christ. It was so crazy that it worked, but it did and it kicked ass!

I'm surprised you didn't touch on the tv series (that I didn't even know existed until a couple of months ago). I recall seeing a clip on youtube where two robocops had a shootout in a church and there were a few cheesy lines that had me chuckle. Getting a summary of that tv series would've been nice part of "the complete saga explored" as you stated, as opposed to just the cinematic saga.

The other leg was only robotic from the knee down he was missing most of the stomach area I believe on his right side but technically still had a digestive tract his chest was fully intact but yes later got replaced due to to the damage sustained in the later movies. I believe his gun arm is was fully intact but was missing a good chunk of his wrist and hand believe the other arm was completely robotic.
