Old Man Robocop Origins - Frank Miller's Real Script For Robocop 3 That So Damn Intense And Dark, The Studios Couldn't Handle It #robocop

The problem with Robocop acting as a rogue vigilante is that he needs very expensive maintenance just to survive. The only way he could still operate is if he's supported by some kind of resistance movement. Maybe some OCP doctors and engineers grew a conscience and joined the resistance, stealing some essential equipment in the process. Then the resistance network does its best to procure the spare parts needed to keep Robocop operational. In this Robocop would actually feel like an old man, since he is running with subpar and scavanged components, with performances far inferior to when he was working for OCP.

That's probably the least of the problems with this story. Honestly, the actual Robocop 3 was better than this. The robot bomb kid that sticks around Murphy until he figures out she's a bomb... That's just stupid. The love interest that dies but comes back because she has a disk back up!? I think I would have walked out at that point.

@@Kopie0830 My point wasn't that Robocop killed the robot kid. It's a robot. Who cares about that. My point was that if you go to the trouble of making a bomb into a robot kid, you're probably going to blow it up once it gets near Robocop. The fact it gets near him and stays near him for quite a while and doesn't get detonated is just plain idiotic. Frank Miller is very overrated.

yeah the plot of R3 was top notch the dystopia we are haded to, NWO vibes, big gov, fascism and it takes one cop to bring back actual order. but poorly, horribly executed. that would still be awesome to have this one just redone. and that would speak a lot, may be, in fact, a bit too late.

I really hope that Teyon does a killer story expansion for RObocop: Rouge City like they did for Terminator: Resistance. It has been super fun diving back into these old IPs again, and Teyon is working magic with them, movie studios should be taking notes

So Frank Miller wrote a script for both part 2&3?!?! That’s awesome
@thermonuclearcollider44188 ай бұрын
Yes. He was still hopeful things would turn out well despite the bad experience he had on "Robocop 2" (the final movie only has a few similarities to his original script and a lot of ideas, like the rehab soldiers and the gunarm, ended up in "Robocop 3"). His version was definitely darker than the movie we got and there were a couple of nice moments, but, all in all, it still made the same crucial mistake of treating Robocop like Batman while if he's like any comic book character at all, he's supposed to be like Judge Dredd. Robocop 3's director Fred Dekker took over screenwriting duties after Miller quit and we got the movie we got (toned-down violence aside, I don't think Miller's script would've been filmable with 1991 tech on the relatively-low budget they had - although 3 was the most expensive of the original movies).
@CoolGobyFish8 ай бұрын
@@thermonuclearcollider4418 Robocop 3 is the most expensive? It looks the cheapest of the three. Are you sure about this? Also, I don't think you can get any darker than Robocop 2: a cop getting his organs harvested, the brain removal, little kid being murdered, Cain's rampage, OCP CEO stepping over a dead body on his way to a limo)))

One of my favorite (and one of less crazy) Frank Miller's works. The idea of broken down Robo, all scratched and chipped and held together by duct tape and determination, fighting the good fight against OCP and it's rent-a-cops.

He says he didn't consent to becoming RoboCop, he actually did. It's stated clearly in the first film that when OCP took over to run the police the cops all signed forms, and that legally Murphy is dead and can do whatever they like.

I remember that too in the original movie when Bob Morton asked Johnson what he thought about what to do with Murphy's arm because he wanted a total body prosthesis Johnson said "well he signed the release forms when he joined the force legally he's dead we can pretty much do what we want to with him."

I'd give the story an 8 and a half out of 10, nobody wants a movie or a show to get too far in to too much action right away and the same goes for comics, they want a lil storey telling in it to and that's where the slow to action concept comes in. You get in to the real action right away it ruins it because action has an edg like a razor use it too much and it goes dull it becomes so common it's lame but apply it at the right intervals and it's like putting a specified sheath on that razor if it's made right it sharpens it every time it's used and the action stays exiting.

I have an idea for a final Robocop film. OCP gets sick of RoboCop not being 100% obedient then tells his caretaker to dismantle him. She does but preserves his brain, then takes it to her friend who has a top secret cloning project who clones Murphy’s body around his brain. Robots have replaced Human cops and are are ruthless and corrupt. Murphy makes body armor out his old armor and hunts down each robot cop. Eventually OCP goes bankrupt due to it’s bad press and no one is willing to refund them. Human Cops replace all of the robots and Alex is promoted to Sargent after stopping all of the robots that had been abusive to mankind.

The ED-209 robot doesn't need to shoot under its feet. He can just start stomping. Its weight will be enough to even crush a Robocop. At the same time, it is really unclear why he did not react to the girl, although the robot felt that she was connected to his leg

@@Vlad.Larionov ED's knees are bad for that, they're reverse jointed so at best it could maybe(?) try flicking like a bird but he's so poorly balanced he'd fall over.
