its interesting that its normally a lower class overcoming their beginnings and moving into an upper class position - thats a typical Great Expectations style story. Whilst the Silo turns that on its head and has a Doctors daughter, arguably fairly high class, deciding to join the down deeps and that decision becoming the making of her.

It’s wild the order openly will blame a down deep person for rebellion always but had Jules stayed in the up top her story I feel would be the same! She’d still have the rebellion spirit because of her child rage

Though not technically a silo, you should have included the mountain bunker.

So what came first, Silo or Fallout? I ask because one is clearly ripping off the other.
@JIMsurviveZ6 сағат бұрын
the idea of large scale fall out shelters and people within them surviving isnt a new one. Its been talked about in real world scenarios for decades, so neither is a rip of off the other

These types of dystopian apocolyptic future books are so funny. Any time someone tries to "control" society it always fails. It's just human nature.

I though you would talk about all the other books written by other authors than Hugh Howey about what happened in the other silos. Like 'Silo 49' by Ann Christy, 'Silo submerged' by WJ Davies, 'Karma of the Silo' by P. Fitzgerald, 'Shadows' by P. Cawdron, 'Rebel State' by Carol Davis and so on as there is actually much more to explore than the original silo serie.

@@TrisTris-rj7rx Larry Niven did that with his Ringworld books. He wrote the first three (if I remember right - it's been a long time) and then let others take over writing more. I didn't read past those first three but they were great.

Im thinking this situation is when full transparency is key. Silo leaders tell the people the truth...if you're successful as a community, we all survive and get to restart humanity....get everyone involved instead of coniving and hiding everything....

It’s just a reflection of the real world. Our government definitely doesn’t try to work with us or tells us everything. That’s why whistleblowers are sometimes punished or killed.

Says someone who did not see American news when trump lost his election few years back 🤦🏻♀️. No, while I WISH everyone was smart enough and level headed enough to know all the truths. Things from the books that I never felt were clear. Thurman's team bombed the entire world? or Just local to the southern US? Why 500 years of waiting? Why not check after a certain amount to see if it was safe and get updates of the world? Seems Silo 1 should have been more interested in atmospheric updates and what was going on with survivors around the world. Also they got it wrong as the cloud of gas surrounding the silo farms was the only thing thats was toxic. And Why one one Silo to survive, if the end game is to repopulate, why not want as many to survive as possible? Did miss something? Did I miss some things lol
