Yes, no kidding! I was living in Zurich at the time and I used to go to Montreux every Summer. This was Marvin's only performance in Switzerland ever and as you can see he killed it! They played all his hits and then some..... That same year (1980) I also saw B.B. King, Van Morrison, The Brecker Brothers., James Brown and many more. For 2 and a half weeks it's just one great concert after another, and often the Performers end up jamming together onstage. The best Music Festival I've ever seen!

That's Sandra Lee Akaka (not Shiela E, as many have guessed). Akaka is living in Hawaii and still playing percussion (facebook.com/photo?fbid=10208763761474226&set=a.1585569401983). Although it appears she's also selling skin care products on the side. On her Facebook page, she says that was her "first big gig out."

First listened to this song in 1977 on the radio then my older brothers' 45" LP I was 11 years old I haven't been able to get it out my mind April 2 would have been marvin's 83rd birthday April 1st is the 28th anniversary of marvin's murder Marvin changed soul music forever with his hypnotic voice he really was my generation's legacy of r&be songs r.i.p. Glad the mixing desk eventually realised that David Majal was trying to deliver a sax solo (or just about to finish, anyway) the rhythm guitars and horns get a better deal. Sandra Akaka can sure hit those congas. Could have just gone on for another 8 and half minutes I guess...thanks for posting.

I think the name of the song is "Time". It is from the "Here, My Dear" album (1978). The entire album is about his marriage to Anna Gordy, their breakup and his new love... Truly compelling listening.

Back in the late 70's, I worked the 3-11 shift at the factory. We'd head to the bar and play pinball for beers. When this song came on....I was in the GROOVE!! Rackin up the extra balls....I LOVE this song!! RIP Marvin!
