I’m 72 years old and I been enjoying Mr. Gaye’s music for almost that long. As far back as being able to turn on my radio. But he is singing for the Lord. I would just like to shake Mr. Gaye’s hand and tell him “Thank you so much for all of the great music over the years.”🥹🙏
@susanb82223 күн бұрын
Isn’t it interesting that everything he sang about in his music is still going on today?
@Pete-lp5pw3 күн бұрын
@@susanb8222 Amen. And it’s a sad situation too. I wonder if the Lord just looks down at what is going on in this world and says He needs to step in and take charge of things. Marvin Gaye was truly a man before his time!!

I had the opportunity to meet Mr Gaye in person. When I was a child he would give money to the children in my neighborhood. He wrote music with my neighbor. Years later in the 70s I met him again at a Birthday Party in Detroit. Such a charming man. Thank you Mr Gaye for sharing such loving 🎶 Music with Us! goodvibes💫

Started High School when this came out. Prophetic lyrics ! That's when my long hair arse, met, (prophecy?) Marvin Nunn. McKinley, and Junior. I was forever changed. Man, great dudes. I think it was Marvin who lent me, maybe actually my sister, this album ! I had a hippie Auntie and Uncle, up in Canada, one Sister into Janice Joplin, and Jimi Hendrix and Joan Collins. Two sisters into Motown ! Me Mum, Anthony Benedetto, Tom Jones, Englebert Humperdinck, Andy Williams, and Dean Martin. GP's into Elvis and country music. They were from Scotland. Me Grams loved Country music 🎵. I bought a transistor radio, from my 12 years old, illegally bussing tables and washing pots and pans at Rockey's Diner ! So i was listening to the AM stations of the early 60's and 70's , sometimes at night, my radio under my pillow. Mum had said, lights out ! That was my realm of music influence, trips in summers, up north to Canada. My Uncle was big on the Beatles ! And then there was me Scottish heritage. Daughters of the British Empire, the Scottish Cultural Society. And a couple others i canny mention. Those in grammar school were listening to Waet coastal bands. Beach ⛱️ Boys. Such musical differences, and influences i found myself in the environment of. So many greats. What was your musical lineage music 🎵 friends ? My tastes are so veried, lm good as long as it's not...like bluegrass...some category like that. No offense to any artist, that music doesn't move anything for . me. James Brown used to move my body in strange ways. What's y'all's experience with music growing up, that made your music library, what it is now ?

Having grown up "in the day", a white boy in N. S. Chitown, you can just imagine the music I had to enjoy...... In the soul arena so much was part excellence-with 2 artists standing out. Marvin Gaye & the ever expressive James Brown. And SO many other contemporaneous acts. Try the Trouble MAN effort. Some of his best!
