Agreed. Aside from Hagler's supreme boxing ability, what I always liked about him was HOW down-to-earth he was, NEVER an asshole towards his fans. I suppose that was due to him coming up the ranks without getting any breaks, yet he never bitched and whined about it, he just put in his work, as always. My friend and I saw Hagler-Hearns back at the old Boston Garden, and the intensity and fever pitch was SO great, it felt like the fight was live inside the Garden.
@matthewgreiner27663 жыл бұрын
I was at the fight. Hagler was a machine that night. Being from Massachusetts myself so i may be biased but Hagler was the GOAT. I remember a lot of British fans with their flags. They did get a surprise when they left. It was sunny when we went in and about 18 inches of snow when we left. It was nuts. Had to push cars out of the lots. Saw Hagler fight Scypion in Providence also. That was when tickets were reasonable, we paid $30 for each fight.

Hagler was a brawler, but he had very fast hands and great movement, one of my all time favorites. The worst thing for opponents was that when they did land, he seemed completely impervious to anything they hit him with and just kept on coming.
@robertmcadam22163 жыл бұрын
Hagler was no brawler, he possessed immense speed, power and a tight defence. His move from southpaw to orthodox was seamless and the gazelle punch fooled many world class fighters. Hagler was one of the greatest fighters of all time, no one who brawls can achieve that. Marciano fought from a crouch that Archie Moore thought was easy until he got in the ring Marvin Hagler would find a way to beat every middleweight he fought. He beat Leonard, I know Leonard and think he lost. He ducked no one and that alone elevates him to the very greatest of all time. He is coherent, modest and deserves recognition - to call him a brawler is an obscenity.
@fiveowaf4543 жыл бұрын
@@robertmcadam2216 I guess we have a different definition of a brawler, to me the term implies nothing against anyone's skill, it's just a fighting style Hagler came to fight, walk people down and take it to them.
