Don't know if you're used to diesels, but let those glow plugs heat up a bit before cranking it over. If extremely cold, do it two or three times before attempting to start :)

if that model has the preheating Glowplugs that is, i had a old ass mercedes which i almost had to use a blockheater seperatly in the wintertime due too it not being able to start at all lol. but yeah, preheating is a must for older diesels.

I had to do exactly this with my diesel VW ages ago when I lived in the same area Mav does. Turn on the ignition, let the glow plugs cycle, turn off the car, cycle the glow plugs again... repeat at least 3 times...

In one of Mav’s videos from about a year ago, a giant piece of ice maybe a mile plus broke off and several people fishing had to be rescued. They lost their tents, fishing gear and I think some vehicles when the ice floated out as they had to abandon them and be rescued by chopper (I think it was a helicopter). Mav donated some new fishing gear to some of them and the story had a local news clip too about the ice break and rescue. No one fell in though.

@@denverdubois5835 No you learn. Usually what most ice fishers do, and probably what Mav does is get ice info from others before going on. but then after we get out a bit we drill a test hole. Like here in Alberta we had a cold snap locked in for about 3 weeks -28ºC, so I know the ice will be thick. And we will be going out this next week and it will be warm -4ºc, with no worries at all.

When you start your rv, try and let it sit with the ignition on for a bit to heat up the glow plugs, that will help it start up easier. In your dashboard you have a lamp that says (glow) wait for it to turn off, when crank your engine.

That diesel cold start gave me the shivers! In these cold temperatures the glowplugs need to pre-heat, it's called the Rudolf Diesel moment of silence. Turn the ignition on and wait a minute or until the according control lamp turns of before starting the engine. Besides that, awesome video as always, keep doing what you love

This is gonna sound ridiculous and I get that. My family used to own a 70ft Narrow Boat for going up and down canals. It has the same engine as your Toyota Hiace, and also the same noise. It's been years since we've had it but the idle sound from your camper made me relive a couple memories, fond ones. Thanks for helpin me relive memories i guess.

"Step Brothers" is a family favorite in my household. Pretty impressed that Murray is willing to clean fish. I can't get mine to bait their own hooks. Good looking fish by the way. I can't tell ya anything about "good" MRE's but one food item I can suggest NOT getting is chili. Bad things can and do happen. Oi! Great to see a kid enjoy himself outside like this. I hope there's more videos with you two slaying fish. Great video.
