my brothers and i had all the marx sets as kids in the 50s.we would playfor hours on end.only thing i have left is the alamo.that was a long time ago and my brothers are gone.i enjoy the video.thank you.

This brings back fun memories! About 50 years ago, when I was a kid, these Robin hood figures were offered as prizes in Sugar Smacks cereal boxes. Today they're called Honey Smacks featuring Dig em the frog! Sugar Pops are now Corn Pops! Sugar is a bad word nowadays! I had 2 brothers so we took turns I went second! The hooded guy with the club was my best figure! My older brother was lucky enough to get the sheriff of Nottingham! Mostly we would get the boulder throwers! That was the most common figure. However, I think that they were more like catapult loaders than boulder throwers! The catapult was essential in storming a castle just like the battering ram! Unless you were Robin hood and you dressed like the friars of the Black Cannons and we're "invited" in! Or maybe you built a Trojan horse and sent it in as a gift with some of your guys hidden inside! Beware of Greeks bearing gifts! Or you could bribe the local prostitute to sneak in through her apartment, like Joshua did at the battle of Jericho! One more thing! The actor that played Little John was Alan Hale Sr. His son was more known to us! He was the Skipper on Gilligan's Island, Alan Hale Jr.! Thanks for the memories, Andy not Annmarie

Thanks for the verification on the cereal name. People had me convinced I was recalling wrong about "Sugar" Smacks.

I found the guy with a stick and dagger from a bin of assorted toys, reproduction no Marx markings. Still I knew it was a Marx figure the moment I saw the details. Just looked around to identify it and had to see the set it came from. Thanks for posting this video.

Very cool. By my time it was all cardboard and vinyl (which I still prefer the sight of to later thin or sturdy but heavy plastic). I'd have loved these tin ones, oh I'd have turned my fingers to ribbons handling no doubt, but still. Either companies stopped making so many elaborate "plastic soldier" sets by my childhood or they simply were sold in my area, but other than bags of Army Men (army, cowboys/Indians and occasionally knights or dinosaurs) and a single Wild West cavalry set with plastic fort, I never even set eyes (in person) on anything like these. Then there was a sudden surge in my teens where a few D&D-like plastic on vinyl mats. Thanks for doing the video. Very fun and even relaxing to watch.

I've got this set, but my box is all taped to death... 1 small tear with 6 feet of tape on it. I don't have the Kings Stag and am missing a few of the knights, but I have all the charcter figures and Merry Men. They made a version of the castle in the 1990's in Mexico with higher cardboard walls but still with all the plastic add ons. They don't look too bad but you have to cut the walls a bit then squeeze the plastic onto it.
