Thank you so much mam for detailed and enlightening lecture. Karl Marx was a German philosopher, economist, historian, sociologist, political theorist, journalist and socialist revolutionary. Born in Trier, Germany, Marx studied law and philosophy at university. He married Jenny von Westphalen in 1843 Marx's critical theories about society, economics, and politics, collectively understood as Marxism, hold that human societies develop through class conflict.

Marxism is a social, political, and economic philosophy named after Karl Marx. It examines the effect of capitalism on labor, productivity, and economic development and argues for a worker revolution to overturn capitalism in favor of communism. Marxism posits that the struggle between social classes-specifically between the bourgeoisie, or capitalists, and the proletariat, or workers-defines economic relations in a capitalist economy and will inevitably lead to revolutionary communism. Marxism is a social, political, and economic theory originated by Karl Marx, which focuses on the struggle between capitalists and the working class. Marx wrote that the power relationships between capitalists and workers were inherently exploitative and would inevitably create class conflict. He believed that this conflict would ultimately lead to a revolution in which the working class would overthrow the capitalist class and seize control of the economy. Thank you ma'am for this wonderful lecture.

Thank you ma'am for such an informative lecture 1)Marxism in international relations 2) Arose from the thoughts of Karl Marx. 3)Karl Marx- bom in the year 1818 in the town of Trier -Prussia 4) Economics and economic power in the international system. Marxism as a theory of international relations rejects the realist and liberal views and focuses only upon the economic and material aspects (relationships and conflicts) thus; it is materialistic in its orientation and tends to overlook other forms of non-economic aspects of world politics. Marxism criticise the liberal idea saying that products are not structured on supply and demand because market do not have tendency to establish values through supply and demand mechanism rather he puts forward the idea that free market capitalism has tendency to exploit people by setting the price of the products lower than the cost of the labours required to produce. Marxism made us realise that how those eeconomic control use and exploits the resources and how those people in power get vast majority of financial benefits from the sale that products.

Thankyou ma'am for such a wonderful lecture...✨ Marxism arose from the thoughts of a German political philosopher karl Marx. According to this view the society is divided into two classes - Haves and Have nots. Since the economic base of society is unequal, therefore the relations in-between are also unequal. Marxism as a theory of international relations rejects the liberal and the realist views and focuses on economic and material aspects only. Marxism makes us understand that how those in economic control use and exploit. Class and class struggle is the main focus of study for Marxism. Thankyou!

Thank you mam for detailed lecture. The Marxist perspective is one of the most important and a lively approach to the study of International Politics which is different from traditional theories of international relations such as realism and neo-realism in manner; that it does not support to maintain status-quo in the international system. Rather, it attempts to bring the radical change in the prevailing social and political order. It simply means that being a critical social theory, it not only focuses to unfold the laws and peculiarities of capitalist globalization in terms of global inequalities, class conflicts, spheres of power and production exploitation, alienation and estrangement but also to replace them with a form of universal cooperation and emancipation which would promote freedom and peace for all. Marxism as an important theory of international relations(IR), offers an alternative understanding of „International Relations‟, particularly of the realist theorization of international relations. Marxism as it is well known is based on the philosophical, economic and political work of Karl Marx.

Thank you so much Ma'am for giving us a broad thinking upon Marxism view on IR. Marxism belives on this notion that products are structured on supply/demand, and rather, the focus is on the ability of a human being to make said product. This is very important for the international relations theory of Marxism. The reason is “that markets, rather than establishing values through supply and demand mechanisms, can be means of exploiting people by setting the prices of goods lower than the cost of the labor required to produce them”.

Thank you ma'am for explaining Marxism in International Relations... Marxism is defined as the state which is controlled or owned by the capitalist system. Karl Marx wrote the main source that is.. Marxism is a structural theory but focuses on the economic sector. It reflects the relation between "The Base" and "The Superstructure ".. Marxism contained two types of theroy : (1) Dependency Theory. (2) World - Systems Theory. The thinkers such as Adam Smith argued that free market Capitalism without any role of government would be the most efficient ....The basic principle of Marxism is: *opposition of an economic system which is based upon Inequality and exploitation of workers by the owners.......

Well explained and researched lecture. MARXIST view of IR: Immanuel Maurice Wallerstein was an American sociologist and economic historian. He is perhaps best known for his development of the general approach in sociology which led to the emergence of his world-systems approach. In this, Immanuel Wallerstein tries to understand IR from a Marxist perspective. Book: The Modern World-System I - Capitalist Agriculture and the Origins of the European World-Economy in the Sixteenth Century We know that Karl Marx never wrote in IR. Point of similarity between realism, liberalism, and Marxism: The state is the rational actor in IR. Differences: The state is the important actor but he doesn't see the state as abstract, he sees the state as the world system. Types of social systems: 1) Mini: ex: horticulture, hunting, and gathering systems. 2) World empire: an economy based on extraction of surplus goods Ex: east India company. 3) World economy: When writing, only explain this. Wallerstein argued that capitalism had a division of labor that encompassed several nation-states. The capitalist world is the cause of exploitation. The modern nation-states were created in Europe and so was capitalism. For Wallerstein, a capitalist world economy is a mechanism of surplus appropriation. It relies upon the creation of surplus through constantly expanding productivity. Wallerstein argued that in economics there are three types of economic nations - the core, the semi-periphery, and the periphery. The core consists of those nations which are dominant and have a dominant economic relationship with the semi-periphery and periphery. The periphery consists of those nations that are being dominated. In between these two is the semi-periphery, in which nations are included who both have to dominate economic relationships with the periphery and less dominant ones with the core. Core countries: USA, England, etc. Semi Periphery countries: India etc. Periphery countries: Countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. To sum, the Marxist perspective in IR holds that: Development of the core happens at the cost of periphery.

∆ Marxism can be defined as a set of political and economic principles which helps us to understand the problem of human society through historical analysis. Also it states that the capitalist mode of products and the modern sovereign states system are not natural and inevitable events. ∆ Marxism also tells that the concepts are not just meant to help us to understand the world. Also in IR marxism shows how the economy trumps other concerns ,which allows for the elevation of class as the focus of the study.

Thank you, ma'am, for taking the time to clarify Marx's concepts to us. Karl Marx is the founder of Marxism, a social, political, and economic ideology. It looks at how capitalism affects labour, productivity, and economic progress, and proposes a worker revolution to overthrow capitalism and replace it with communism. Marxism holds that under a capitalist system, the conflict between social classes-specifically, the bourgeoisie, or capitalists, and the proletariat, or workers-defines economic relations and will ultimately lead to revolutionary communism.

Thanku so much ma'am for explaining such topics easily... MARXISM history and knowledge remains highly influential and is as much a part of the way conservatives see the world as it is a "liberal" theory. Social democracy and Marxist critical theory remain widely accepted and practiced phenomenon. It's worth noting that with few exceptions, the countries with "the highest standards of living"have adopted explicitly social democratic form of government. As a whole MARXISM is a political and economic way of organizing society where the workers own the means of production.

Marxism refers to the idea that arose from the thought of a German political philosopher Karl Marx , born in 1818 in the town of Trier-Prussia. One of the major idea of Marxism is how the play of economics and economic power operates in a system.Marxism is known as the reaction to the liberal economic theory in which Adam Smith argues that free market capitalism without the role of the government is essential for the prosperity.Marxism criticises this idea underlining that the idea that without any role of government there will be prosperity is bogus because market breeds within itself the idea of egalitarian society. When we found that Marxism criticise the liberal idea saying that products are not structured on supply and demand because market do not have tendency to establish values through supply and demand mechanism rather he puts forward the idea that free market capitalism has tendency to exploit people by setting the price of the products lower than the cost of the labours required to produce.marxism made us realise that how those eeconomic control use and exploits the resources and how those people in power get vast majority of financial benefits from the sale that products.

The dependency theory is an economic theory proposed by the developing latin American countries .It was developed under the guidance of Raul Prebisch ,the director of the United Nations economic commission for latin America in late 1950s. It was very important tool of analysis in the 1960s and 1970s. It explains the dependence of the developing countries in power developed countries . According to dependency theory , underdevelopment is mainly caused by peripheral position of affected countries in the world economy. Typically, underdeveloped countries offercjeap labour and raw materials in the world market. These resources are sold to advanced economies which have the means to transform them into finished goods. Underdeveloped end up purchasing the finished products at high prices, depleting the capital the might otherwise devote to upgrading thier own productive capacity. The result is a vicious cycle that perpetuates the division of the world between a rich core and a poor periphery .

☑️Marxism is both a critical approach that wants to always question the mainstream policy-driven approaches to IR theory and a classical approach via the philosophical and sociological tradition of its namesake, the philosopher Karl Marx (1818-1883). In fact, Marxism is the only theoretical perspective in IR that is named after a person. Of the range of great thinkers available to us, Marx may not automatically qualify as being the most ‘internationalist’. ☑️The basics of Marxism - Marxist concepts are all connected by the common goal to contribute to what they perceive as the greater good of humankind and its environment. To borrow the words of Adrienne Rich (2002, 65), theory is the seeing of patterns, showing the forest as well as the trees - theory can be a dew that rises from the earth and collects in the rain cloud and returns to earth over and over. But if it doesn’t smell of the earth, it isn’t good for the earth. ☑️A more recent trend of Marxism in IR - historical sociology - returns to some of the more classical problems of IR. Specifically, it looks at the development of the modern state system in relation to the transition(s) to capitalism and to the different moments of colonial and imperial expansion. It looks more closely at what happened inside Europe but also beyond Europe. ☑️CONCLUSION - Marxism is characterised by interdependence. The Marxist term for this is dialectics, which underpins the way in which all the previous concepts explored in this chapter relate to each other. For Marxism, all concepts reflect social relations, but categories take on a life of their own and often hide those social relations. It is easy to overcomplicate or abuse this concept. Thankyou ma’am :) !!

Marxism is an ideology that arose from the thoughts of Karl Marx born in the year 1818 in the town of Trier - Prussia and wrote numerous books one of the most significant one is Das Capital which came to be referred in the international realm. Marxism is of the view that society is divided into rich vs poor, haves and have nots, bourgeois vs proletariat. This structure is unequal, and so is the relations between these classes. It is seen as a reaction to liberal economic theories especially Invisible Hand by Adam Smith. It criticises them and states that the idea of Free market in itself breeds the idea of inegalitarianism Marxism makes us understand how those in economic control use and exploit the resources i.e how those in power get the vast majority of financial benefits from the sale of the product.

The word marxism refers to the ideas that arouse from the thoughts of German political philosopher Karl Marx. Major idea of Marxism is how the play of economics, economic power operates within a system. Marxism theory rejects the realist and liberal view and focuses upon the economic and material aspects.

Dependency theory is the notion that resources flow from a "periphery" of poor and underdeveloped states to a "core" of wealthy states, enriching the latter at the expense of the former. It is a central contention of dependency theory that poor states are impoverished and rich ones enriched by the way poor states are integrated into the "world system". This theory was officially developed in the late 1960s following World War II, as scholars searched for the root issue in the lack of development in Latin America. The theory arose as a reaction to modernization theory, an earlier theory of development which held that all societies progress through similar stages of development, that today's underdeveloped areas are thus in a similar situation to that of today's developed areas at some time in the past, and that, therefore, the task of helping the underdeveloped areas out of poverty is to accelerate them along this supposed common path of development, by various means such as investment, technology transfers, and closer integration into the world market. Dependency theory rejected this view, arguing that underdeveloped countries are not merely primitive versions of developed countries, but have unique features and structures of their own; and, importantly, are in the situation of being the weaker members in a world market economy. Some writers have argued for its continuing relevance as a conceptual orientation to the global division of wealth.Dependency theorists can typically be divided into two categories: liberal reformists and neo-Marxists. Liberal reformists typically advocate for targeted policy interventions, while the neo-Marxists believe in a command-centered economy. Thank you ma'am for this informative lecture.
