Who Would Make The Best Sculpture?

Today we will be going through the history of bodybuilding and select the athletes who would make the best Sculpture. This will of course be my opinion so please share yours in the comments.

Dorian Yates in the side tricep from 93 - 96 would make for a great statue as well. Those black and white photos already make him look like an exaggerated, more monstrous statue.

Ummm...I'm about 99.9 % sure that "sculpture" of Brian Buchannon is him lol.They set it up to look like a sculpture, with his torso through the table. Then sprayed him to look like clay. The likeness and detail is beyond ridiculous. Look at the micro muscularity, little skin wrinkle in the one armpit etc. I say noway. This was a cover shoot vs a real sculpture. I also knew Brian casually as well. We would chat etc in daily life when he was over here in Canada, in the mid nineties for a bit.

people talk about flex wheeler and other guys but for me shawn ray was perfect. everything was perfectly balanced, proportionate, every body part was developed, top 3 mid section ever if not the best one, great posing. I know even he himself has said Flex Wheeler in 93 was the ultimate physique but not in my opinion. Shawn 94, 97, couple more years even those are perfect physiques.

If we’re talking about the old Roman athlete sculptures, none of them had small waists or exaggerated v-tapers. They had blocky muscular waists, huge oblique muscles, big legs and back w/ average arms & chest.

To be *statuesque", most bodybuilders, (even w/perfect physiques like Flex's), are too short. Height's a big part of Reeves' & Schwarzenegger's legendary status.

I don’t think so. He was short with a long torso, oversized stubby thighs and narrow clavicles. Those aren’t heroic features seen in Greco Roman statues.

@@granddaddyofthemall6320 Monkeys have long torsos and stubby legs. Homosapiens advanced once we left the trees and adopted bipedalism. The heroic Greco roman statues had long muscular legs and dense muscular torsos. This is the masculine standard. Elite Athletes and modern humans typically typically have these features. It is the norm. Midgets and some women tend to have longer torsos and shorter legs because on average they are several inches shorter than average.

We don't wanna be 'knocked-out' by "best" arms, chest, legs....Balance is even more important than it is in a competition. Even size itself isn't what you want to be the viewer's first impression. A return to the athleticism implied by early bodybuilders is the way to go.

For me its Lee Priest hitting a kneeling abs and thigh at the 1995 Iron man Pro looking downwards with one hand forward. and 93 Flex at the Arnold Classic u know why.

A different physique's needed according to the preferred pose. Dorian or Ronnie are Herculean, we don't want wings on their feet. Ironically, young Reeves is a little light to portray Hercules in bronze, & a hair too big for those wings, but perfect for athletic poses. For my taste, a bit more muscle than Reeves, & a bit less than Arnold, hits the spot.
