The Apostles' Creed, 125 A.D. - Is so called because it is rightly a faithful summary of the apostles' faith, which constitutes, "the oldest Roman catechism ." CCC194, 196, 197
AVE MARIA, We read that God sends the Angel Gabriel to proclaim to the Virgin Mary that she is full of grace, the Lord is with you. Luke 1:28 Then announces that Mary will conceive in her womb and bear a son, and call his name Jesus. Luke 1:31 Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Luke 1:28 Mary will conceive and bear a Son. Luke 1:32 Mary said, yes, “Behold me, the handmaid of the Lord.” Luke 1:38 Behold, Blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Luke 1:42 Mother of my Lord. Luke 1:43, 1:46-55 The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. John 1:14 They shall call Him Emmanuel. GOD is with us. Matthew 1:23 Jesus looking down from His cross on Calvary, he said, behold and honor Mother Mary. John19:25, 26, 27. Mary Queen of Heaven, clothed with the sun and under her feet the moon. On Mary’s head a crown with twelve stars is found. Revelation 12:1 Genesis 3:15 The enmity or war between Mary’s seed (Jesus) and Satan. God’s curse of the serpent who tempted Eve, “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.” Council of Ephesus (AD 431) Mary is the mother of the second person of the Blessed Trinity because neither the Father nor the Holy Spirit were incarnate. “If anyone does not confess that God is truly Emmanuel, and that on this account the Holy Virgin is the Mother of God (for according to the flesh she gave birth to the Word of God become flesh by birth), let him be anathema.” She was born in Jerusalem the daughter of Saints Joachim and Anne. Mary was presented in the Temple and had taken a vow of virginity. She lived in Nazareth and was betrothed to St. Joseph. Mary was visited by the archangel Gabriel, who announced to her that she would become the Mother of Jesus, by the Holy Spirit. Mary, traveled to visit her cousin, Elizabeth, who was bearing St. John the Baptist and Elizabeth acknowledged Mary as the Mother of God. Mary responded with the Magnificat. Galatians 4:4-5 When the time had fully come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. Galatians 3:19 The law of works was in force until the seed should come to whom the- promise was made. The woman was Mary, mother of the Word, mother of the Incarnation, mother of Jesus, mother of God.
Only God the Father and His Son Jesus are worthy to be worshiped and adored. Mary is venerated by hyperdulia, as the holiest of all human creatures not equal to or greater than God the Father and His Son Jesus! Mary, Saint Mary, Saint Mary the Virgin, the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mary Mother of God or the Virgin Mary is the most favored of all the known Christian saints, owing to the fact that the Virgin Mother was, because of her Son Jesus and the Second person of the Blessed Trinity the Holy Spirit, exalted by a singular divine grace above all angels and men. Romans 12:6,7 so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another. We have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us. SAINTS: The Catholic Church has always believed and taught that Jesus Christ is the one mediator between God and man. In the first commandment we are commanded to offer to God alone the supreme worship that is due him. The Catholic Church has always taught we must Worship and Adore only God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. No creature, no matter how good or beautiful-no angel, no saint,-deserves our Adoration. GOD and God Alone.
St. Irenaeus, Bishop of Lyons, A.D. 120-200 Early Church Father a disciple of St. Polycarp, who was a disciple of St. John the Evangelist. In using Eve-Mary, Irenaeus demonstrates the continuity of the Old Testament with the New Testament, thereby refuting the Gnostic heresy. His understanding of Mary within salvation history, through the Incarnation, directly refutes the heresies prevalent at his time.
St. Irenaeus said the Blessed Virgin Mary is truly a new Eve, just as her son Jesus Christ is a new Adam. He contrasts Eve’s disobedience with Mary’s obedience… “And so the knot of Eve’s disobedience received its unloosing through the obedience of Mary; for what Eve, a virgin, bound by incredulity, that Mary, a virgin, unloosed by faith.” Adv. Her. iii 22. 34.St. Irenaeus defended the church against many rampant heresies in his voluminous work Adversus Haereses, Irenaeus states that Eve “by disobeying became the cause of death for herself and the whole human race, so also Mary . . . was obedient and became the cause of salvation for herself and the whole human race” (Against Heresies 3.22.4). “Just as the human race was subject to death by a virgin, it was freed by a virgin, with the virginal disobedience balanced by virginal obedience” (ibid., 5.19.1).
