While watching It's A Wonderful Life this last Christmas season I was stuck by how great her performance was. She didn't even need lines, just one 10 second shot of her face told you everything you needed to know.

Yes, but I guess the actors had also enjowyed to play the Twisted Charackters in that looking glas world. - I wished someone had done a TV-series with a similar concept, I had liked to watch it. Especailly if Donna Read had played in it. :)

Beautiful tribute! It's so great to hear from classic movie star's children who have nice things to say about their parents. Of course, to us, they were stars, but to their children, they were Mom and Dad.

Donna Reed was I think, underrated as an actress, and as a beauty. All American gal. She would be 100 today.

I remember visiting Dennison Iowa and seeing a big mural of her at, I think the local McDonalds, and being very impressed- at the power of the movies for one, to give a small Iowa town a real sense of identity because one of their own, from the same humble means, was up there in the lights for the whole world to see. A legacy that still informs the town nearly eight years later.

Me born in 1961 I have seen a lot of movies with her on German TV. Think she was a very fine actress who had not only in front of the camera that good heart and good charackter..

Donna Reed - BEAUTIFUL - on the outside and the inside.

Beauty comes from within your soul. Donna Reed was the most beautiful woman to ever appear on screen. If there was one past Hollywood Star I could meet, get to know and Act with, it would be her.

After Barbara Bel Geddes passed away, Donna Reed replaced her as Miss Ellie Ewing on the TV show "Dallas".
@kathleentripp73063 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, I forgot that.

No, she replaced Barbara for a season when she became ill. Barbara returned the following season and Donna Reed successfully sued the producers for breach of contract.
@pwatson57663 жыл бұрын
@@cmcb09 Omg, you are SO right! I see now that it was a very tactless situation, as Bel Geddes feigned illness to garner a larger salary, which worked. And yes, Ms Reed successfully sued Dallas' production co...Good for her! Thanx!

I always get her and Ingrid Bergman mixed up.
@rogerlynch52793 жыл бұрын
That is intetesting. Since Ingrid Bergman also played different roles and pulled more the tragic aspects I think But of course both had been top. Here in Germany you rather get confused because of the often changed dubbing voices.
